Taming the Beast World with a Frying Pan-Chapter 250: Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?
The day stretched on beneath the sweltering Beast World sun, filled with the sounds of snapping timber, squelching mud, and the heavy grunts of working beastmen. Ren’s new village was slowly but surely taking shape.
However, forcing a group of fiercely proud White Tigers to do manual labor alongside a ragtag bunch of rogue strays was a recipe for absolute disaster. It was only a matter of time before the powder keg ignited.
The tension finally snapped at the mud-mixing station for Team Huts.
"You mindless, scavenging mutt!" a White Tiger beastman roared, his hands covered in thick brown sludge. "I said it needs more dry dirt! The mud is too wet! The twigs won’t bind!"
"It needs more water!" Yuriel, the lanky wolf beastman from the strays, barked right back, baring his sharp canines. "If it’s too dry, the walls will crumble! Do you want the huts to fall over in the wind?!"
"Have you been living in caves for so long you forgot how to build a proper hut?!" the tiger snarled, his ears pinning flat against his head. "And stop splashing your muddy water onto my tail!"
Ren, who had been busy preparing a kitchen space, heard the shouting and immediately pinched the bridge of her nose.
’Here we go,’ Ren sighed. "Hey! Break it up! What is the problem here?!"
But the angry beastmen weren’t listening to her at all. The petty argument had rapidly escalated past architectural differences and straight into deep, biological hatred.
"I’ll rip your ears off!" Yuriel howled.
In a flash, Yuriel completely abandoned his beastman form, shifting into a massive, snarling grey wolf. Not to be outdone by a stray, the White Tiger beastman roared, shifting instantly into a giant, muscular white tiger.
"Hey! No shifting on the clock!" Ren yelled, waving her hands.
Her voice was completely drowned out. The moment the two beasts lunged at each other, tumbling into the mud with snapping jaws and flying claws, the rest of the workers dropped what they were doing. Instead of breaking up the fight, the other beastmen immediately formed a wide circle around the brawling duo.
They started cheering. They howled, stomped their feet, and pumped their fists in the air, absolutely thrilled to finally be getting some violent entertainment to break up the monotony of manual labor.
"Tear his throat out!" a badger beastman cheered aggressively from the sidelines.
Ren stood at the edge of the roaring crowd, feeling incredibly small. The two giant predators were tearing up the construction site, throwing massive clumps of mud everywhere.
She realized right then and there that this was absolutely nothing like running a kitchen.
If two line cooks got into a fistfight over a burnt steak, she could easily step in, fire them both, and throw them out the back door. But this? It would honestly be easier for her to handle a team of deranged asylum patients.
If she tried to step between a furious wolf and a raging tiger, she wouldn’t be handing out pink slips—she would be ripped apart and turned into collateral damage. She couldn’t stop disputes like this with a wooden spoon and a stern voice. She had zero physical authority here.
Suddenly, a massive shadow fell over the crowd.
Kael pushed his way through the cheering beastmen like a boulder rolling down a mountain. He didn’t yell. He didn’t try to reason with them.
Just as the grey wolf leaped into the air to tackle the tiger, Kael’s massive fist shot out.
THWACK! He punched the wolf squarely in the snout mid-air. The wolf yelped, spinning like a top before crashing into the mud, completely knocked out cold. Before the white tiger could even process what had happened, Kael spun around and delivered a devastating, lightning-fast roundhouse kick to the side of the tiger’s head.
CRACK!
The tiger collapsed instantly, his eyes rolling back in his head as he landed directly on top of the unconscious wolf.
The cheering crowd fell dead silent.
The other beastmen looked at the two twitching bodies in the mud, then up at Kael’s furious, glowing golden eyes. Immediate, profound disappointment washed over their faces. The show was officially over.
Without needing to be told, the crowd of spectators quickly scurried off, rushing frantically back to their logs and trenches before the angry ex-King decided to hand out more naps.
Ren marched up to Kael, putting her hands on her hips. She looked down at the two unconscious beasts, then glared up at her husband.
"Why did you do that?!" Ren scolded him, exasperated. "You just shortened our workforce by twenty percent! We need those huts built before dusk!"
Kael’s stern expression instantly melted into a warm, gentle smile. He reached out with a muddy hand and affectionately patted the top of Ren’s head.
"Do not worry," Kael promised with absolute confidence. "I will work twice as hard to make up for them. They clearly needed to rest."
Ren let out a long, suffering sigh. ’Involuntary time off, I guess,’ she thought.
The sound of heavy footsteps and snapping branches echoed from the dense tree line.
Kaelen and his Hunting Team had returned.
Ren checked the position of the sun. It was about early afternoon now. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks—she needed to decide what to cook, and she needed to do it fast. Her workers were burning thousands of calories hauling timber and digging trenches; they would be getting hungry soon, if they weren’t absolutely starving already.
Ren had learned the hard way back in her kitchen in her world that hunger severely affects productivity. She never knew just how incredibly incompetent, whiny, and downright stupid her professional line cooks could get until they were forced to work a double shift during a dinner rush without taking a food break.
If she didn’t feed these beastmen soon, there wouldn’t just be one mud brawl, there would be a full-scale riot.
Kaelen stepped into the clearing, his white hair tied back. He and his team of hunters walked directly up to Ren.
Without a word, the beastmen dropped their massive, freshly killed haul into the grass, laying out five entirely different, bizarre animals directly in front of her.
