Talentless Extra Of The Legendary Hero Academy-Chapter 32: Don’t tell me!
Chapter 32: Don’t tell me!
The news hit the Academy like a physical thing, a hurricane, a storm that hit without warning.
It was the biggest news that had ever hit the Academy, and one person's name was constantly mentioned.
Severin Reignhart.
Not only was it unthinkable, what he did was something that shouldn't be.
How did he get one hundred thousand credits? It was something that he couldn't, shouldn't have. Even the most powerful of the students didn't have that amount, even with the backing of the Houses.
Speculations began to spread. Could Severin be a secret heir of the Empire? Or an illegitimate one, the shame of the Imperial Royal House?
Or was he the child of the Academy Director? Or maybe he was a child of an extremely rich family that was admitted just because of his family's money. Those things weren't uncommon, and the Academy would shamelessly admit them, only to wash them out when they couldn't keep up.
But even a dropout of Zenith Hero Academy still carried weight. After all, everyone knew how difficult the Academy was.
But they soon learned that Severin wasn't that rich.
They tested him.
It began the next day when the news broke. Most of them were sent by the Houses. Before anything, they needed to figure out the true identity of the new Founder.
Because how could an orphan picked off the street create a House?
They sent third and second-level students that came in the guise of joining the House. They demanded high payments for joining, all of them strong enough to be a backbone for a new House.
Severin turned all of them down. He was utterly broke, and he let them know. The contract he proposed was one where they would join and only get paid later when the House gained traction.
In short, Severin was selling the House of Chains' potential.
They took one look at him and ran back to their masters.
Potential? What a joke.
Severin didn't take offense. Even though they were spies, he would have accepted them if they showed interest, and he would have made proper use of them. He was good at using people.
But he knew that those at the upper level would never join him, and he understood. He had nothing to offer them.
His House wasn't at the level where they could support anyone. In fact, anyone joining would be supporting the House. So he needed an incentive to pay them with.
At the moment, Severin lacked money. But he knew something else he could pay some people with.
He shook his head and did his best to listen to what those with him were saying. "I have a lot to do."
"What? You aren't even listening to us!" Derrick shouted. It was night, and he had come to his room together with Ethan to demand an explanation for what was happening.
"What did you say again?" Severin asked.
Ethan took a deep breath, and anger flashed in his eyes. "You! So we were given credits, why didn't you tell us?"
Derrick swallowed, and greed flashed in his eyes. The thought of all the things he could do with credits made his mind spin. "Don't tell me you used it to create that?"
Severin frowned and met their eyes. "No, we weren't given credits. I was given credits."
Ethan looked as if he might explode at any moment. "We were all there! We did the work together. We even did more than you. We protected something important for the Academy. It should be shared equally."
Derrick nodded.
Severin sighed, and then he brought out two papers from the drawer in his desk. "Before we started working in the facility, we were asked to sign contracts. Both of you were listed as working under me—my workers. Why do you think I've been taking your one-credit pay every day?"
Ethan shook his head in disbelief. "But... but that's only because it's one credit!"
Derrick looked at Severin as if he shouldn't be surprised—but he was.
Severin continued speaking, smiling at them. "One hundred and ten thousand credits is for me. My two employees will be given ten thousand credits each."
"And don't worry, I have invested your twenty thousand credits in the new House created—the House of Chains. You will be sure to reap the highest reward in the future."
Ethan looked as if he needed to crush something. Ten thousand credits was big, and it was gone just like that. He took a step forward but then flinched when he saw Severin's expression.
Derrick was in the same position. He felt as if he needed to fight something, but he held his mouth and hand. "What are you planning again?"
Severin smiled. "You two are now members of my House. So, House members, we have somewhere to be tonight. We have to see something together."

"What exactly are we doing here?" Ethan asked.
They were in the abandoned building in the Class Five dorm compound. From inside the building, they could see the dorms, and they had positioned themselves at the window to watch from there.
"I'm here to confirm something," Severin said. He was there to confirm if the future had changed just so soon. He already knew the far future had changed—but what about the near one?
"Do you guys know how the Scar power those strange abilities of theirs? It's not Etherion, so unlike us, they couldn't regenerate their used energy."
Derrick shifted impatiently. "Tell us already."
Severin did.
"Life force of Etherion users. They drain it and then convert it into the power they use. That's how they have their power in the OPT Core."
Ethan and Derrick frowned in confusion. They'd never heard of such techniques before, but they couldn't deny the fact that the power the Scar used wasn't Etherion.
"And one curious thing is that the Scar are not gone from the Academy. They didn't run. They hide because their work isn't done. But they have a dilemma. They need power—massive amounts of it. And an easy prey."
Ethan stiffened. "Don't tell me...!!"
