System Mission: Seduce the Final Boss [BL]-Chapter 27: Home sweet home!
"Ouch!"
Blake tumbled off the bed the moment his alarm rang. Outside, it was still dark.
He grabbed his phone and squinted at the screen.
5:00 a.m.
"Dude..." he muttered, stretching as a long yawn escaped him. Rubbing his eyes, he forced himself to his feet.
He had to leave early. And now that he knew his existence wasn’t exactly a secret, he really didn’t understand why they were still being so absurdly secretive.
Then again... if someone searched his name online, nothing would come up. No results, no articles, nothing.
So maybe it was only a secret from the media.
At least, that was the conclusion Blake settled on.
Yesterday evening had ended peacefully enough after everything that had happened, but he still felt oddly restless.
’I wonder how he’s going to react...’
Thinking about Myles’ reaction to seeing him again made Blake feel a little stupid.
[ Dear Host, your break period has officially ended. ]
"?" Blake blinked. "Ah, that was supposed to be a break? I mean, it would’ve been weird if you assigned me missions while I was so far away from Myles."
No missions also meant he had to text him every day and somehow keep up normal conversations.
Which, frankly, had been harder than expected, especially since Myles was somehow staying at his place with no keys or windows opened.
Then, Spoon suddenly appeared in front of him.
[ New mission: Hug Myles Cortez for one minute straight ]
[ Time limit: 10 hours ]
[ Current favorability: 0 ]
[ Penalty: Favorability decay. ]
Blake stared at the floating screen.
Then he sighed deeply, looking incredulous... but not surprised.
"So this is how you motivate me after a whole week off? A touchy mission and no reward? Are you legitimately this evil?"
[ Dear Host, you are far too lazy. ]
Blake swung a fist at the screen, which of course passed right through it.
"You’re the lazy one," he huffed. "You don’t even bother saving my life."
[ You were not in a life-threatening situation, Dear Host =_= ]
Rolling his eyes, Blake went to change into casual clothes.
’I never thought I’d miss dressing like a normal person.’
Dragging his luggage behind him, he stepped out of the room and was escorted to the same car that had brought him there the week before.
"Young master, I hope to see you again soon."
The secretary somehow looked ten years older than he had last week.
"Haha... of course. Me too."
As the car pulled away, Blake checked his phone again.
5:35 a.m.
’I need to get there by 7:00 at the latest!’
He covered his face, feeling the sudden urge to cry.
’Why... why do I have to go to school?! Ugh, I’m so sleepy!’
His plan was simple: complete the mission as soon as possible, then wait for whatever missions came next once he arrived at school.
That way, he could finish them immediately too.
’But, of course, I have to get ready and take a quick look at my place! The bus will come at 7:35 a. m.! I can do this, c’mon!’
Staring out, he dozed off.
...
"Young master, wake up."
With a gentle nudge, Blake jumped up, checking for any sign of drool as nonchalantly as possible.
"Yes, yes. I’ll get out in a second, don’t worry."
Taking his luggage, Blake practically ran home. The moment he stepped inside, he rushed to his room and began unpacking at record speed.
6:24 a.m.
He still had some time.
Or at least, that’s what he thought.
Instead of focusing on his things, he found himself scanning the apartment carefully, his gaze lingering on every surface.
He was trying to see if Myles had touched anything.
"Damn it..." Blake muttered under his breath. "If it weren’t for the love tracker, I wouldn’t even know he stayed here."
Everything was exactly where it should have been.
Everyone was perfectly arranged, looking completely untouched.
And, of course, that made Blake feel even more uneasy.
When he had brought Myles home last time, it had probably looked the same. Back then, Blake had dismissed the possibility of him searching through the apartment simply because nothing was out of place.
’I was being way to naive... god, can’t he just let my stuff be? I thought he was suspicious about me having a system, not about my possessions.’
Finishing up, Blake changed quickly into his school uniform and took a deep breath.
’I can do this. Just hug him like you haven’t seen him in centuries, that’ll look hella romantic.’
He paused, grimacing slightly.
’Let’s just hope it doesn’t backfire.’
According to the system’s rules, he had been acting as normally as possible in public, regardless of the missions. The point was to stay natural, to avoid making Myles stand out, since that was what he hated the most.
But just because Blake kept the pursuing undercover, that didn’t mean Myles would tolerate being turned into the center of attention again.
His choices were limited, either he completed the mission outside the school...
Or inside.
And the first option was definitely the safer one.
After swallowing down a quick breakfast, Blake grabbed his bag and stepped out of the apartment.
His throat felt oddly dry.
The streets were still quiet in the early morning light, the sky slowly brightening as the city woke up. Blake walked quickly, trying to calm the strange tension building in his chest.
’A minute long hug, this is going to be really awkward.’
As he approached the bus stop, he spotted a familiar figure standing by the sidewalk.
Myles.
Blake slowed down.
At that exact moment, Myles lifted his head, and their eyes met.
For a second, everything seemed to pause.
Blake froze in place.
"Huh..."
A strange warmth surged through his chest, sudden and overwhelming, spreading through him before he could even process it.
Then his body moved on its own.
"Myles!"
Blake ran toward him.
Myles turned, and Blake wrapped his arms tightly around him, pulling him into a firm hug.
"I missed you!"
