System: Master Your Life-Chapter 793 - 196: Journey to Dali with Pei Danqing—Are Mr. Xu and Young Master Xu the Same Person? (Part 5)
The music started to ferment, gaining more and more popularity.
Mind you, it's still purely instrumental.
The day after, in the afternoon, upon learning about the situation of this piece, Xu Lin specifically posted on Little Red Book.
Content: The theme of this piece expresses a love and yearning for an earthly paradise, or you could say, poetry and distant lands. Thank you everyone for your appreciation. I hadn't really thought of a name, but yesterday I spent a day in Dali by Erhai Lake, and the scenery was quite beautiful. For now, I'll just name the piano piece "Dali".
Whether the name is the same as others, Xu Lin doesn't care. It's just a name.
"Wow, Mr. Xu, it's been a while since we last saw you log in."
"Mr. Xu finally remembered he has a Little Red Book account!"
"Not to mention, he hasn't logged onto TikTok for two months!"
The fans commented enthusiastically.
Xu Lin didn't pay attention; he logged out right after posting on Little Red Book.
Today, he and Pei Danqing planned to explore other places.
There are many places worth visiting in Dali, such as cultural and historical sites like the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple Cultural Tourism Area, Dali Ancient Town, and several distinctive towns.
But Pei Danqing wasn't interested in these places, and neither was Xu Lin. They preferred to enjoy nature's scenery.
Cultural and historical sites are pretty much the same nationwide. They have a well-developed commercial setup, and aside from the architecture, everything else is the same—it's not interesting.
Might as well go hiking instead.
So, the two decided to climb Cangshan today. The main peak, Malong Peak, is just over 4000 meters above sea level, and it's pretty cold up there. Xu Lin and friends needed to wear thick clothing to get up there, so they also had to buy down jackets. Fortunately, neither of them suffered from altitude sickness; otherwise, they would need to carry oxygen tanks.
Cangshan boasts about nineteen peaks, attracting hikers nationwide throughout the year, and it takes at least six to seven hours to get to the top.
Xu Lin wasn't particularly enthused about hiking.
They took the Shimatan Cableway to ascend directly instead of climbing.
The cableway is over five thousand meters long, offering plenty of scenery along the way.
Afterward, they reached an altitude of 3,900 meters, but that wasn't the peak yet—they still had to climb over 1,100 steps on foot.
How many floors would that be equivalent to?
Generally, a floor has about 20 steps, so 1,100+ steps would be equivalent to fifty-some floors.
For those without much physical training, climbing six or seven floors can be tough, let alone fifty-some floors.
So, after five hundred steps, Pei Danqing was exhausted, stopping frequently, pausing for over half a minute every few steps.
Along the way, many others were climbing similarly to Pei Danqing—just regular folks; some had to rest every ten steps.
"Tired already?"
Unlike the gasping Pei Danqing, Xu Lin remained relaxed, not catching his breath at all.
Everyone else was bundled in down jackets, while Xu Lin started with one but stripped down to just a tank top after climbing over a hundred steps.
"You're the one not tired, who's as crazy as you?"
Pei Danqing said, "Put your clothes back on, or you'll catch a cold."
"I don't feel cold at all."
Honestly, at about 4000 meters, the wind was strong and chilly.
"You really aren't cold?"
"Don't you know me?"
Xu Lin laughed, "Want me to carry you up?"
"No need, I want to climb up myself."
"Don't ask me to carry you later, then."
"I won't ask you to carry me; I'll walk myself."
Pei Danqing seemed rather stubborn, and Xu Lin wanted to see how long he'd hold out.
Finally, after reaching the seven hundred-plus step mark,
Pei Danqing was really exhausted.
Xu Lin couldn't help but jokingly say, "Just this morning, someone said they'd start the climb from the bottom; now look, can't even handle seven hundred steps, and there are still over four hundred left."
Pei Danqing simply ignored Xu Lin's teasing.
But Xu Lin came down to carry her nonetheless.
"Hop on; at the rate you're going, who knows if we'll reach the top this year. I still want to see the view."
Xu Lin: "Come on up, or you'll get a spanking when we return tonight; you know how it'll be done, right?"
"Such a shameless guy!"
At that, Pei Danqing finally climbed onto Xu Lin's back.
"Hold on tight, I'm going to dash up now."
Pei Danqing clutched Xu Lin's shoulders with both hands.
She had indeed underestimated Xu Lin. Even after climbing over seven hundred steps, he wasn't short of breath.
For the next four hundred steps, he was even more impressive, running up them while carrying a 120-plus-pound woman.
Everyone Xu Lin passed was shocked.
"Unbelievable! Carrying someone and still running that fast?"
"I wonder how far he'll go at this pace?"
"How long? He's already up there, and his speed hasn't slowed a bit!"
Comparison is dispiriting; onlookers—already exhausted like dogs—watched as Xu Lin sped past with a girl on his back, quickly disappearing from view without pausing.
In no time, Xu Lin reached the mountaintop, sprinting up over three hundred steps without a trace of exhaustion.
Pei Danqing couldn't help but be amazed at Xu Lin's stamina, thinking no wonder he has so much endurance in... other activities. But thinking about that made her blush again.
She shook her head, deciding not to dwell on such silly thoughts.
Might as well enjoy the view.
From over 4000 meters high, looking down, one could see Erhai Lake in the distance and bits of Dali's beautiful scenery; the great mountains and rivers encompassed all.
