Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 99: Skipping Class
The next morning.
When Moira Young woke up and looked at the time, it was already noon!
It hasn’t even been that long since the semester started, and she’s already skipping class...
Moira Young hurriedly went to wash up and change clothes, then went downstairs to see Julian Sinclair sitting on the couch in the living room reading documents. For the past few days, he definitely couldn’t go to work.
Julian Sinclair heard the commotion and turned around, "You’re awake."
"Why didn’t you wake me up this morning?" Moira Young ran downstairs, and Mrs. Miller was just putting the freshly made lunch on the dining table.
"After you eat, I’ll drive you." Julian Sinclair didn’t answer her question.
Seeing Julian Sinclair so calm, Moira Young suddenly didn’t find skipping a class that big of a deal. She sat down at the dining table, "Julian Sinclair, I have a question for you."
Julian Sinclair put down the document in his hand and walked over, "Ask."
She bit her lower lip, a little afraid to ask, but she really wanted to know. After a while, she finally gathered the courage to speak: "Was it really you who saved me that day?"
"Mm." Julian Sinclair just looked at her like that.
"Then how did you know I was there..." Moira Young hoped for an answer.
"I heard you calling me." Julian Sinclair said without hesitation, his eyes showing certainty, absolutely no hint of joking.
Moira Young was taken aback by this answer, "You... really heard?"
Julian Sinclair arched an eyebrow, "Did you really call me?"
Moira Young’s face turned red, she picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks and put it in her mouth, pretending to be nonchalant, "No."
Julian Sinclair didn’t touch the food, simply drank coffee, and the only one eating the dishes on the table was Moira Young.
She looked at him bewildered; she had never seen him have this habit before...
"Why aren’t you eating?" Moira Young asked.
"Afraid you won’t have enough." Julian Sinclair casually replied, flipping through documents with his other hand.
Moira Young suddenly remembered how she had eaten all the food at dinner last night, feeling both embarrassed and annoyed, but in front of Julian Sinclair, she didn’t dare to lose her temper. Every time she saw Julian Sinclair’s exquisite, perfect face, she couldn’t help but surrender.
"What time is your class in the afternoon?"
"Two o’clock." Moira Young pouted in protest.
"What time is it over?"
"Five o’clock."
Julian Sinclair closed the document, "Do you have any necessities to retrieve from that place?"
Moira Young thought for a moment, "Do you mean Heath Sterling’s house?"
As soon as Julian Sinclair heard the name Heath Sterling, a cold chill emanated from him, and Moira Young inexplicably shivered, "My books are all there."
Moira Young always felt the atmosphere was oppressive, so she swallowed hard and pretended to grab a crab, but Julian Sinclair took it from her hand again.
"When did you learn to eat crabs?" Before, he used to do this for her, even cutting her steak.
Julian Sinclair glanced inadvertently, catching a glimpse of a scar on Moira Young’s wrist.
"What’s on your wrist?" He frowned, his tone resembling an echo from an abyss.
Moira Young instinctively shrank back, not wanting Julian Sinclair to know she once felt desperate enough to attempt suicide, an experience she didn’t want to bring up, "N-nothing!"
Julian Sinclair had guessed most of it, but he couldn’t be certain. Adrian Grant had always been watching over Moira Young in the background, and if anything happened to her, he would definitely inform him.
"Let me see." Julian Sinclair’s tone was commanding.
Moira Young was unwilling; she was startled by Julian Sinclair’s tone, and her nose tingled, tears welling up uncontrollably, "My affairs are none of your business..."
Pain flickered in Julian Sinclair’s eyes, he walked over to Moira Young and forcibly pulled out her hand. When he saw the scar on her wrist, his heart felt like it was pierced by a thousand flaming arrows, an agony that left him breathless.
She actually... attempted suicide...
Why didn’t Adrian Grant tell him...
Moira Young took her hand back from his, somewhat evasive, "Take me to school, please."
Julian Sinclair remained silent, and even on the drive to school, he didn’t say a word.
At the entrance of Arden University, Moira Young got out of the car and went into the school.
In the car, Julian Sinclair watched Moira Young’s back, heart aching so much he couldn’t breathe.
"Julian, where to now?" the driver asked.
"The Grant family." Julian Sinclair squinted, he needed to settle accounts with Adrian Grant.
Adrian Grant usually didn’t bring women home and stayed elsewhere, so his house remained quite clean.
When Julian Sinclair arrived, he found Adrian Grant still sleeping in bed; he kicked his leg sharply, "Get up!"
Adrian Grant woke up annoyed, jumping up: "What the hell? Did you swallow a bomb?"
"Why didn’t you tell me about Moira Young’s suicide?" Julian Sinclair went straight to the point, his voice brooking no objection.
Adrian Grant was taken aback, instinctively pursed his lips, and quickly moved to a spot Julian Sinclair couldn’t reach with a kick: "You were like a dead man those days, if even the mention of Moira Young set you off like a bomb, what if I told you, and you went and blew up the world?"
"Stop with the nonsense!" Julian Sinclair was genuinely angry. He could accept Moira Young being sad during that time, her life being a bit difficult, but absolutely couldn’t accept her attempting suicide.
"Well, I’m telling you now, happy?" Adrian Grant was helpless, "You’re still a patient, can you stop fighting? Do you really think I can’t beat you?"
"Speak faster!" Julian Sinclair had no patience for his ramblings.
"That day you locked yourself in the room, who knew if hearing such explosive news would drive you to despair..." Adrian Grant grumbled.
"Get to the point." Julian Sinclair impatiently rubbed his temples, sitting on the couch.
"Moira Young attempted suicide the day you implemented your plan; it happened at the Porter family estate, and they rushed her to the hospital." Adrian Grant yawned, "Thanks to me, if I hadn’t been watching over her, that girl would have been in real danger."
Julian Sinclair gave him an annoyed glare.
"The lousy hospital said the blood bank was critically low, the Porter kid was so anxious he nearly tore his hair out, but he was helpless, so I stepped in and solved the blood transfusion issue."
Adrian Grant finally gained some confidence, "Aren’t you going to thank me, your great benefactor?"
"You kicked me before, I won’t let this go, I’ll get you back one day." Adrian Grant eyed him contemptuously.
Julian Sinclair completely ignored him, getting up to leave.
"Hey, how come you’re leaving just after coming? Tell me your plans, at least I can support you, after all, you and Fiona Rhodes still need to get engaged. If Moira Young finds out, won’t she lose her mind?"
Julian Sinclair froze at this, turned back expressionlessly, "Then don’t let her find out."
"Are you kidding me? Something so big, how could she not find out? You might as well be upfront with her." Adrian Grant thought being honest was the best approach.
Julian Sinclair knew this method was the safest for now, but he had too many uncertainties between him and Moira Young. He wasn’t sure if Moira Young would believe him, if telling her about the engagement with Fiona Rhodes would mean losing her forever.
Better to keep it from her until after the engagement, once he had control over The Sinclair Group, it could all end perfectly.
"There’s still a rift between her and me; I can’t be upfront." Julian Sinclair cared too much about her, having already experienced the pain of losing her once, he didn’t want a second time.
Adrian Grant strongly opposed, "What’s wrong with you? Why does your IQ drop when it comes to things related to Moira Young?"
"If you don’t tell her, and she finds out from the newspapers or TV, or hears it from Fiona Rhodes, have you thought about the consequences? I barely got her back for you, spent a month handling your affairs, with no time at all for dates. Can you consider my feelings of not having a sex life for a month?" Adrian Grant blurted it out, suddenly realizing Julian Sinclair had no sex life either.
He coughed lightly, tentatively asked, "Uh, so... uh, have you and her—"
"Shut your mouth." Julian Sinclair frowned, glaring at him sideways.
