Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 69: The Thief
"You know perfectly well this is the necklace Heath risked his neck to retrieve last night." Moira Young always thought Thea Thorne was unreasonable, she’d gotten used to her way of handling things.
"Precisely because he risked his neck to retrieve it, it should be properly taken care of, not just casually thrown into a drawer."
Thea raised her eyebrows, indicating helplessness, "Since you’re unwilling to keep it safe, then I’ll—"
With mock seriousness, she pinched both sides of the necklace with a touch of contemptuous laughter, and in front of Moira Young, she exerted force and broke it completely.
"Thea, are you insane!" Moira gasped, staring incredulously at the necklace now in ruins, likely beyond repair.
Thea spread her hands, suspiciously, "You’re actually distressed?"
"Heath risked his neck to get it back for you last night, and today it’s become like this. How will you explain this?"
Anger flashed in Moira’s eyes, "What’s the point of doing this? Is making Heath upset your original intention? Will you be happy if he’s upset?"
"Don’t talk to me about this! Did you even consider Heath’s feelings keeping the necklace from your last boyfriend?" Thea pulled out another small box, took a stance, and yelled, "Heath’s necklace is carelessly tossed in a drawer, while your last boyfriend’s necklace is carefully preserved and hidden away."
"Moira Young, I’ve thought you were trouble since high school. It seems everyone has found out now? Everyone knows you’re stringing Heath along while being some rich guy’s mistress outside. Have you no shame!"
Moira looked at the small box, momentarily dazed, realizing it was the necklace Julian Sinclair had given her.
She had been willing to talk nicely with Thea, but now her face instantly darkened.
"Give it back!" Moira’s expression turned grim, her eyes filled with murderous intent.
Thea’s breath stalled for a few seconds, as if returning to two years ago, only Moira’s expression was much fiercer than back then.
But Thea was not one to shy away from trouble; she spitefully withdrew her hand, "You can have it back if you apologize to me on your knees, including for what happened two years ago."
"I’m giving you one final chance, give it back." Moira looked at her coldly, holding back.
"Look at me with those dying eyes again and I’ll toss you out!" Thea couldn’t stand it. She was somewhat intimidated, ran to the balcony, and stretched her arm out, the necklace box resting on her palm, one slight twist of her arm and it would fall.
Moira held her breath looking ahead, her brain nerves jumping around, each throb causing a bit of pain.
"Careful—!" Lisa Webb suddenly rushed over for some reason, pouncing towards Thea, which resulted in the necklace in her hand being thrown outside!
Moira’s eyes widened, watching helplessly! Her heart wrenched painfully, beyond words!
She hated Julian Sinclair! But! She couldn’t bear to discard what Julian Sinclair had given her!
Thea pushed Lisa away, roaring, "What are you doing!"
"I... I..." Lisa almost cried, shrinking to the side in fear,
The murderous intent in Moira’s eyes flared up, if she weren’t pressed for time to find the necklace, she might have just charged at her!
Moira ran out of the dorm, went downstairs to the flowerbed, disregarding dirt, she directly dived to search.
Luckily, the box was blue, the flowerbed green and pink, so the color stood out, found it in a short time.
Moira picked up the small box, wiped it clean, finally breathed a sigh of relief, it wasn’t lost.
But when she opened it, she found it was empty!
How... could it be empty...
Moira was sure Thea had played a trick, she must have hidden the necklace.
She stormed back to the dorm, without a word, marched up to Thea and slapped her across the face!
"How dare you hit me!" Thea tried to retaliate but was blocked by Moira, once again delivering another firm slap on Thea’s face.
Moira coldly held the empty box before Thea, asked, "Where’s the necklace?"
Thea covered her face, looked at the box in disbelief, and suddenly sneered, "Well played, Moira! You hid the necklace yourself and now question me! I never thought you’d be so cunning!"
Moira saw her putting up an act, couldn’t help but chuckle coldly, "Thea, I can yield to you on everything, I can always step back, but you lost the thing you should never have touched, how will you make up for it?"
"What are you talking about?" Thea insisted Moira was lying, because when she found the box the necklace was indeed inside, she and Paige Quinn took it out to look at it and put it back.
Wait!
Thea turned to look at Paige!
Paige’s face instantly changed, trembling, slumped heavily into a chair, cold sweat forming beads.
"Did you steal it?" Thea sneeringly looked at Paige, she always looked down on her, Paige was from an ordinary family, yet her aspirations were higher than the skies, she always wanted what others had.
"It wasn’t me!" Paige flatly denied, shaking her head repeatedly.
Moira impatiently shifted her gaze from Paige back to Thea, "You did it, don’t blame others, just return the necklace to me and I’ll act as if nothing happened."
"Frame?" Thea looked at her in astonishment, "Would I, the Thorne family’s young mistress, care for your worthless necklace?"
Moira coldly, "I believe others are ignorant of its worth, but if you, Thea, don’t understand its value, do you expect me to believe?"
Thea was irked, she felt uneasy deep inside, she clearly knew the necklace was invaluable, even considering for herself before buying, and was not readily available or just purchasable with money.
"Thea... just return the necklace to Moira... it’s just a necklace after all, you can easily have whatever you want?" Paige suddenly spoke, eyes avoiding, somewhat afraid while looking at Thea.
"You scheming bitch! You and I were the only ones who saw the necklace, your family is so poor, you’re vain, obviously you stole it and falsely accused me!" Thea spoke mercilessly, venomously, each word like poison thrust into Paige’s throat.
Couldn’t spit out, couldn’t swallow, utterly painful.
"Why say that about me? I’ve been like a dog handling matters for you these days, why are you treating me this way?" Paige’s tears burst forth.
"Thea, if you don’t return it, I’ll call the police." Moira knew the police wouldn’t bother with minor issues, but given the necklace’s high value, they’d at least come to inquire, hopefully intimidating Thea a bit.
"Thea... please return it to Moira, we’re all dorm mates, this isn’t good..." Lisa shrank in the corner, cautiously speaking, biting her lip, looking fragile.
"I—" everyone pointed at Thea, leaving her defenseless, eyes reddening, "I didn’t take it!"
"Call the police if you want! I didn’t take it!" Thea changed her tone, pointing at Paige, "It must be you, wretched girl! The necklace would sell enough for you to live several lifetimes, you surely stole and hid it to sell it!"
"Enough!" Moira didn’t want to hear them accuse each other anymore, pointless, no one would admit to stealing now.
She took out her phone and called the police for assistance.
Then she placed her phone on the table, silently started packing her stuff, one by one gathering the books Thea had torn, taping them, discarding broken items into the trash bin.
The other three no longer spoke, Lisa was naturally quiet, Paige was angry at Thea, absorbed on her phone, no one talked to Thea, she too had nothing to say.
The entire dorm filled with a vibe of mutual displeasure, none bothered with the other.
