Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 57: Suicide
"Where are you? You need to come to my house right now, Moira Young is in trouble!" Carter Porter wished he could shout out, but he was afraid Moira Young might hear him.
"What? I can’t hear you, if it’s something important, tell me later." Amidst the noisy background, Heath Sterling’s voice was mixed with the sound of shattering bottles and people screaming.
Only then did Carter Porter realize that Heath Sterling was in another fight.
"Heath Sterling! Can you be reliable for once? I said Moira Young is in trouble, can’t you hear me?" Carter Porter was getting anxious.
"Damn it! Who the hell dared to kick me!" Heath Sterling cursed as he hung up the phone.
Carter Porter smashed his phone against the wall!
He always said he liked Moira Young! But now that there’s something wrong, where is he!
All he knows is drinking, eating, messing around, and fighting. He’s not worthy of her at all!
Furious, Carter Porter paced around the room, feeling it was inappropriate to leave Moira Young alone in her room.
He stopped, an idea struck him; he left his room and quietly approached Moira Young’s door, listening carefully for any movement.
He listened for a long time, until his neck grew stiff, but he heard nothing.
"Moira Young, are you okay?" Carter Porter hesitated for a while, finally deciding to knock on the door and ask.
There was no answer from inside, not a single sound.
"Moira Young?" Carter Porter placed his hand on the door handle, nervously waiting for a response from inside.
He carefully turned the doorknob, but it wouldn’t turn.
Carter Porter was stunned for a moment, then tried turning it with more force a few times, only to realize the room was locked from inside.
"Moira Young!" He knew it! Leaving her in such a state alone would definitely lead to trouble!
"Mom—!"
Carter’s mother was startled. Seeing Carter’s expression, she knew something was wrong. "Quick, quick, quick! Someone bring the spare key!"
"Click—!" The door opened, but the room was empty.
Only the sound of water dripping from the shower could be heard in the bathroom, Carter and his mother exchanged a glance, and Carter blushed slightly, "Turns out she was showering..."
"Silly child!" Carter’s mother poked him on the head and suddenly her demeanor turned tense, "I’ll go take a look, you wait here."
With that, Carter’s mother entered the bathroom.
"Child?" She went inside and found that the shower’s transparent glass was covered with steam, making it impossible to see inside.
However, from the gap between the glass door and the floor, red liquid was gradually seeping out, catching their eyes.
"Oh my god! Call an ambulance quickly!" It was the first time Carter’s mother had witnessed an attempted suicide, her legs went weak and she couldn’t move.
Carter rushed in and opened the glass door and was stunned.
Moira Young was sitting and lying on the ground, her wrist submerged in water, her long black hair messily sticking to her cheeks, her face pale, her whole body soaked. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
She was dyed a vivid scarlet by the red blood and water.
"Oh my god, oh my god! Hurry—" Carter’s mother was somewhat faint, as she braced herself against the sink, possibly about to collapse.
Carter had no time to call an ambulance, he had never seen such a scene and instinctively reacted by picking up Moira Young and driving her to the hospital himself.
He was used to hanging around with Heath Sterling, so he drove recklessly as well.
Carter’s mother didn’t follow them; she lay on the couch, something heavy in her heart, neither going up nor down, feeling very uncomfortable.
Every time she had seen Moira Young before, she thought she looked so well-behaved and lovable, and she had always liked her as she had no daughter herself.
But who would’ve thought... that child was so thoughtless, she’d try to end her life in their home...
If someone indeed lost their life here, surely the feng shui of this house would change, and Carter’s father’s company is already not very stable, they can’t risk bad feng shui at this critical moment...
At the hospital.
They were almost at the hospital, and Carter Porter was drenched in sweat. He didn’t care about anything else and parked the car right at the entrance.
"Doctor! Doctor—!" Carter Porter looked at the girl lying in the car, always feeling like she had stopped breathing.
The closer it came to this critical moment, the more he dared not touch her, so he could only anxiously shout at the entrance.
Several nurses hurried out, pushed a stretcher, and wheeled Moira Young into the operating room.
Carter Porter scurried back and forth like a headless chicken to pay, having never done such chores, his inexperience cost him a lot of time.
"Who is Moira Young’s family?"
"Is Moira Young’s family here?"
"I am!" Carter Porter returned to the waiting area for the family of patients, just in time to hear someone calling, so he pushed through the crowd to step forward.
"Why aren’t you waiting here obediently instead of running around? All the medical staff were looking for you." The doctor gave him a glare, "Sign this critical condition notice."
Carter Porter was a bit flustered, for a moment he didn’t grasp the meaning of a ’critical condition notice,’ "She... she is d—"
"Doctor, what... what does critical condition mean?" To Carter’s understanding, those two words meant Moira Young was going to die, so family members needed to sign, his chest felt like it was covered with something, suffocating him.
"The critical condition notice means the patient is in a very serious condition with a possibility of dying anytime, but it doesn’t mean they will definitely die."
"Hurry and sign it." The doctor said impatiently.
Carter Porter looked at the form, which required family signatures, but he wasn’t Moira Young’s family...
"What are you stalling for?" The doctor pointed at the area where a signature was needed, "Don’t you want to continue her treatment?"
"I... I’m just her classmate; her family doesn’t want her..." Carter Porter, after all, was just eighteen or nineteen, he didn’t understand any of this.
"What do you mean her family doesn’t want her? Quickly get her family over here, why is there no reaction from the family when the child tried to commit suicide? Hurry up—time is ticking—the patient is one step further into death with every second wasted!" The doctor, tired of talking to him, yanked the critical condition notice from Carter’s hand and turned back into the operating room.
Carter Porter stood there dazed, he really didn’t know what to do, they were friends, he couldn’t just leave her unattended.
Not to mention her Uncle doesn’t want her, even if he still did, he didn’t have Julian Sinclair’s phone number... Julian Sinclair was always so mysterious in this city, it wasn’t like he could just find him if he wanted to.
"Moira Young? Isn’t that Arthur Whitman’s illegitimate daughter from the live stream just now? Attempted suicide?" An old aunt sitting beside him suddenly looked at Carter, holding a phone, watching the follow-up reports.
"What a poor child, her biological father truly is a monster!"
Carter Porter didn’t want to hear their useless chatter, but those words gave him hope. Carter thought, if Moira Young is Arthur Whitman’s daughter, why not get Arthur Whitman to sign?
Carter hurriedly dug out the volunteer recruitment info Arthur Whitman had posted earlier, finding the company’s contact number.
He stood stiffly, waiting for someone to answer the other end, feeling as if Moira Young would be fine as soon as the call connected.
But he couldn’t get through.
