Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 43: The Truth
Before the person on the other end finished speaking, Moira Young couldn’t listen anymore and immediately hung up the phone. Her heart seemed to stop in synchrony with her breath for a long time. She gradually came to her senses and understood the content of the conversation.
Did Butler Liu just say her Uncle was in a car accident?
Moira Young felt a sudden numbness throughout her body. Her nose tingled, and tears flowed freely from the corners of her eyes.
She couldn’t care about anything else; she ran out like crazy. Her mind was blank, unable to think of how she would get to the first hospital, only knowing she wanted to see Julian Sinclair immediately.
She ran to the front gate and found that Carter Porter’s car hadn’t left yet. Without a word, she got in.
"First hospital! Please!" Moira Young’s tearful appearance was completely unmasked.
Carter Porter was startled and, seeing how frantic she was, he grew tense as well. Without asking much, he immediately instructed the driver to head toward the first hospital.
Along the way, Moira Young’s heart was like riding a roller coaster – tense and anxious, her hands weakly clenched, and her body was slowly growing cold.
After arriving at the hospital, Carter Porter was worried about her and wanted to accompany her out of the car but was stopped by her – this was a family matter.
Moira Young had just stepped out of the car and saw Butler Liu waiting for her at the entrance.
"Where’s my Uncle?"
"Miss, the young master has something to deal with and can’t come back tonight. I’ll have someone take you home." Butler Liu waved, and a car drove over. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"He was in a car accident yet still has things to deal with? No, I have to see him with my own eyes!"
"Rest assured, Miss. The young master was in an accident, but it was just a scratch. He applied some medicine and went back to work."
Moira Young sighed in relief upon hearing it was only a scratch. The huge stone in her heart settled, but she still felt uneasy until she saw her Uncle.
"Miss, please head back first. The young master will return home after he’s done." Butler Liu also seemed a bit busy as he opened the car door, signaling for Moira Young to get in.
Moira Young frowned, feeling somewhat unwilling. But Julian Sinclair must have something important to handle, or he wouldn’t be so busy. She couldn’t add to his chaos.
After sending Moira Young off, Butler Liu headed to Julian Sinclair’s office.
Julian Sinclair had an injury on his forehead, and his arm was scratched, but fortunately, it was just a superficial injury.
"Sent off?" Julian Sinclair leaned back on the sofa, expressionless, his eyes closed as he was lost in thought.
"She’s sent off." Butler Liu took out a piece of information and handed it to Julian Sinclair. "This is the information we just found, detailing the person responsible for the crash."
Julian Sinclair initially didn’t move, then tiredly opened his eyes and took it.
"This person used to be a bodyguard under Arthur Whitman. He likes gambling and was fired for stealing. People like him will do anything as long as you pay them." Butler Liu summarized simply.
Julian Sinclair impatiently tossed the document aside, letting out a cold laugh as his eyes turned icy. "His style never changes, does it?"
"Arthur Whitman knows we’re investigating him in secret. Our informant has been compromised."
Julian Sinclair nodded slightly. He had long anticipated problems with the informant – Arthur Whitman was such a cunning and deceitful person that he could easily spot someone with divided loyalties.
"He used to just see us as business rivals, but now it seems he has started to suspect something more," Butler Liu said.
Julian Sinclair, thinking of Arthur Whitman’s repulsive face, wished he could kill him.
Back then, it was because Arthur Whitman defiled his mother that led to her suicide. He still remembered how resolute she was at the time, choosing to leave this world without hesitation, especially with a husband unwilling to protect her.
All of it was because of Arthur Whitman, who was ostensibly revered as a philanthropist, known for his loving relationship with his wife and for staying away from temptations, hailed as a paragon of the twenty-first century.
But behind the scenes, he was a greedy and lustful scoundrel, and the harmonious couple image was nothing but a facade.
And this man was Moira Young’s biological father, though he was unaware of a daughter still living.
Years ago, Arthur Whitman was already married with a son but still had an affair with the Young family’s daughter, Moira Young’s mother. When she found out she was pregnant, she panicked and immediately sought a fallback to marry. On the day the child was born, the husband found out the child wasn’t his and erupted in anger.
Moira Young’s mother, to preserve her own and the Young family’s reputation, gave the child to her destitute friend to raise.
This led to Julian Sinclair later adopting Moira Young.
