Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 409: Don’t Cry
"I understand now, what’s there to cry about?"
Standing up, she handed Joe a tissue and then headed to the small kitchen.
"What would you two like to drink?"
Both Joe and Lee looked very surprised.
"Moira, why aren’t you even a little upset or anxious?"
Moira Young saw their astonishment and decided on her own to make three cups of hot cocoa.
"What’s the use of being anxious? The result is already out," she said, placing the cups in front of them. "But I’m absolutely not leaving the entertainment industry. I must become a great actress."
"Ah, Moira, I support you." Joe’s mood instantly soared, happily taking a big sip of the hot cocoa, relaxing completely.
As long as Moira still had that thought, nothing else seemed to matter.
Lee watched the two of them and shook his head helplessly.
"Moira, I know, and I support you too, but..."
"But what, Lee? Just say it." Joe poked the man next to him, getting a roll of the eyes in return from Lee.
"Given the current situation, only by terminating the contract with AE do we have a way out. Besides, you’re still very popular now. Even if switching companies stirs up some waves, there won’t be any major issues. That way, your dream of acting can still be realized."
Moira Young curled up on the sofa, tilting her head while taking a light sip of her hot cocoa.
Joe wanted to say something but was stopped by a look from Lee, so both remained silent, waiting for Moira’s decision.
After a while, a clear and firm voice rang in the room.
"Lee, I don’t want to terminate the contract."
"Moira." Lee immediately sat up straight, hurriedly placing his hot cocoa on the table, "Why don’t you want to terminate it? If you don’t, and just wait it out, you’ll be phased out by the entertainment circle sooner or later. You’re well aware of how fast this industry changes."
Moira also sat up, looking seriously at the two across from her.
"I know, but I still don’t want to terminate."
"Why?" Lee sighed deeply.
Moira’s lips moved a bit but she didn’t speak out.
How could she explain that it was because AE was a gift from Julian Sinclair? 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
They had already separated, and if she left AE as well, wouldn’t that mean they had no connection at all? She wasn’t willing, not in the least.
Even if she was sidelined, with her career taking a hit, she didn’t want to become a complete stranger having no association with Julian Sinclair.
Despite everyone now knowing that she’d been abandoned by Julian Sinclair, deep in her heart she still held a small glimmer of hope, though she also knew she was being irrational.
"I don’t care what your reason is." Lee waved his hand, frowning, "You have to realize that being sidelined must have someone behind it wanting to mess with you. Previous events were likely deliberately exposed by someone with malicious intent. You need to understand that, Moira."
Lee stood up, rubbing his head, "If you don’t terminate, all those who came to you for filming and to sign contracts, they’ll all fall through. Think about the big directors in the circle, Moira, you know how to choose, right?"
Moira Young lowered her head, saying nothing.
"Yeah, Moira, although terminating the contract will mean paying a hefty penalty, it’s better than having no roles in the future," Joe urged anxiously.
Worried that Moira was concerned about the penalty, Lee continued, "Don’t worry about the penalty. You’ve earned quite a lot over the years. Even though the 80 million penalty is indeed a lot, you can manage to pay it." He took a few steps and sat on a small couch closer to Moira.
"Moira, you need to weigh the pros and cons. Once you agree, you won’t have to worry about the path ahead. I’ll naturally pave the way for you. Joe will remain your assistant, and in the future, when an opportunity arises, we can start our own studio. Joe can then even get a promotion."
As he spoke, he winked at Joe.
Joe caught the hint immediately, "Ah, yes, Moira. Think about it. Although this company was quite good before, what they did this time is really not decent. And after we terminate and go to another company, we’ll ensure the contract is tight. As we gain more fame and resources, we can start our own studio. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?"
Listening to them, Moira Young grew increasingly despondent. Indeed, she felt tempted by the thought of starting her own studio, dreaming about future life genuinely attracted her.
But if it meant no more Julian Sinclair, she’d rather stay in the mire.
"I’m sorry, Lee, Joe." Looking at her two partners filled with guilt, Moira’s eyes brimmed with tears as she spoke softly.
Seeing her expression, they knew further persuasion was useless and sighed in unison, exasperatedly.
"Since you’ve made this decision, Moira, it will be a bit tough on you." Lee patted Moira’s head.
Moira smiled faintly, "It’s not tough. I apologize, Lee. Thank you." She turned to Joe, who seemed on the verge of tears, and hugged her tightly, "Thank you too, honey. Having you as my assistant is truly wonderful."
"Moira, don’t worry, I’ll only be your assistant, sob sob." Joe assured.
Unable to stand the slightly somber atmosphere, Lee said loudly, "Why are we crying? It’s just being sidelined for a while. Let’s work hard, and before long, we’ll be back. In the meanwhile, let’s make sure to improve ourselves so people who look down on our Moira will end up eating their words."
"Exactly, Lee is right. Let’s hit them in the face! When the time comes, let them beg to collaborate with us," Joe said fiercely, wiping her face with her sleeve and shouting loudly.
Moira Young burst out laughing, seeing both of them still encouraging her filled her heart with warmth. It was great not to be alone.
"I’ll head off first, Joe, take care of Moira. If anything happens, call me."
They escorted Lee to the elevator, said their goodbyes, and returned inside.
"Moira, it’s already noon. I’ll order some take-out."
"Okay." Moira Young nodded.
In the following days, various announcements involving Moira Young were all withdrawn, causing considerable stir online, but it was intentionally suppressed.
In the past few days, Joe frequently visited Moira Young’s place but was equally active on set and in director’s offices, as was Lee. Yet they both faced rejections. But even so, neither of them gave up.
Moira Young also didn’t wallow in despair for too long. Besides the initial days of low energy, she was inspired by Joe to join the determined effort to enhance her skills. Apart from daily learning about performing arts and reading various books, she kept up with her physical training.
Staying prepared for a comeback.
In the evening, the two finished dinner and did yoga facing each other.
"Moira, what are you looking at?" Joe asked, curling her legs, looking at the documents in Moira Young’s hands.
