Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Blocking and Intercepting

At the moment he saw the initials on the cufflinks, Julian Sinclair narrowed his eyes, feeling like a wave of heat rolled through his heart.

ME, these familiar letters instantly reminded him of that necklace, the same necklace he had once thrown onto the grass, the one he had given to Moira.

Therefore, it was self-evident who these cufflinks were prepared for.

He rubbed the cufflinks repeatedly, almost able to picture Moira Young’s delighted expression when she chose these cufflinks.

Thinking back on her waiting expectantly for more than half an hour before an audition the other day, she must have been waiting for them. Julian Sinclair’s expression completely softened.

He placed the cufflinks carefully over his chest and then called someone.

"Sir, what are your instructions?" Butler Liu asked as he came upstairs.

"Find out where Miss is and get the car ready."

"Yes."

...

"Evan, feel free to order whatever you’d like; thanks for your help this morning."

At The Crimson Steakhouse, Moira Young handed the menu to Evan Howard.

She had no classes this morning, so she brought the designer’s blueprints to find him, and they ran around renovation companies all morning, finally settling on the most reliable one.

Moira Young was clueless about these things, only knowing how to judge if the renderings looked nice. Throughout the process, it was mostly Evan Howard negotiating with company managers.

"Let’s not talk about that, Moira. You’ve already paid for everything; if I don’t contribute, I don’t deserve to say the shop is opened by the two of us."

Moira Young smiled, but her face looked somewhat weary.

She barely slept well last night, waking startled three or four times, and ran around all morning today, making her dark circles more prominent than usual.

Seeing Moira Young’s state, Evan Howard opened the menu: "Moira, are you overworked lately? I’ll order something to nourish your blood and energy..."

Halfway through his sentence, Evan Howard paused, frowned, and closed the menu: "Moira, why don’t we switch restaurants?"

"Hmm? What’s wrong? Is the food not to your taste?" Moira Young frowned slightly.

"No..." Evan Howard hesitated but eventually spoke: "The food here is just too expensive; one serving of duck soup costs over four hundred, it’s too much..."

Moira Young breathed a sigh of relief and handed the menu back: "It’s okay, we’ve worked so hard, we deserve a good treat."

With that, Moira Young winked at Evan Howard.

Evan Howard was momentarily dazed by the girl’s mischievous expression. By the time he snapped back, Moira Young had already called the waiter to order three or four dishes.

"Hey, stop ordering, that’s too much, we won’t finish everything, it’ll all go to waste." Evan Howard hurriedly tried to stop as he saw the waiter repeatedly taking orders.

Moira Young closed the menu: "Alright, that’ll be all."

While waiting for the food, Moira Young gazed out the window in thought, unsure of what she was pondering.

Her legs swung back and forth on the chair, but her thoughts were scattered.

"Moira, is something on your mind?" Evan Howard couldn’t help but ask, seeing her lost in thought.

"Evan, let me ask you, if someone repeatedly hurts you, deceives you, would you still choose to forgive him?"

Moira Young’s voice was quiet, but Evan Howard heard it clearly.

For some reason, looking at the girl’s profile, he felt a pang of sympathy. He considered his words before speaking: "It depends on how much the person means to you. But I think maybe the more important the person is, the greater the hurt from deception."

After he spoke, the girl was silent for a long while.

"Alright, the food is here, let’s eat."

The waiter came to serve the dishes, and Moira Young hurriedly picked up her chopsticks.

Evan Howard wanted to say more, but the girl clearly didn’t want to continue with the topic. She picked up her chopsticks and ate in big bites, as if she was trying to avoid something.

Evan Howard simply said nothing more, and the two of them ate in inexplicable silence.

After the meal, Moira Young prepared to return to school; she had two classes in the afternoon.

"I’ll walk you back." Evan Howard followed behind Moira Young.

"No need, go deal with the renovation stuff, Evan, and someone has to look after your shop as well."

"It’s okay, a little delay won’t affect the renovation, besides, I ate too much during lunch, walking you back will help with digestion."

"Then... okay." Thinking that the school wasn’t far, Moira Young acquiesced.

The two of them left the restaurant, taking a slightly off-the-beaten-path where there weren’t many people, but it was the only way to get to the school.

The road wasn’t paved with cement, it was bumpy with stones everywhere.

Moira Young frowned frequently as she walked.

"Watch your step, don’t step on that spot, it’s uneven." Evan Howard reminded cautiously beside her.

"Oh wow, isn’t this fancy, needs someone watching even on the sidewalk."

In the diagonal front, somehow a man appeared, with blond hair, lanky stature, and a cigarette in his mouth, speaking in an obviously malicious tone.

Moira Young looked up, her pupils contracting at the sight of the man.

In the sunlight, the jeweled ear stud on the man’s left ear glinted, it was the blinding light Moira saw a few days ago.

When that man snatched her bag.

"It’s you?" Evan Howard obviously recognized the guy in front, considering it was him who personally retrieved Moira Young’s bag a few days ago.

"Spit," The man spat the remaining half of his cigarette out and grinded it into the ground: "Kid, you were pretty arrogant the other day."

Evan Howard frowned, moving Moira Young behind him: "We let you go the other day, and you promised not to rob again. What’s your deal now, are you asking for trouble?"

"Kid, do you know who I am? Huh? Let me go, it’s because Grandpa couldn’t care less about you." The guy smirked.

"You’re here for payback." Evan Howard stated.

"At least you get it, I wanted just the bag back then, and you chased me a kilometer, now I tell you, kneel and beg Granddad, I won’t bother with the lousy bag, you have one minute to leave the chick behind, and scram, Grandpa will spare your life."

"You couldn’t beat me last time, why would you think you could now?"

"Why?" The blond sneered: "Now, fellas, come out!"

As soon as he spoke, three to four thugs surrounded them!

Moira Young stood behind Evan Howard, panic rising within her. When had these men been nearby, and how did they not notice?

Evan Howard examined the surroundings, shielding Moira Young more tightly: "Stay behind me."

"Evan, you..."

Before she could finish, Evan Howard clenched his fist and then charged ahead!

The man went straight for the blond not far away, a sudden punch knocking the opponent hard!

The blond covered his aching nose, releasing his hand and revealing a handful of blood.

"Screw you!" The blond, seeing the blood, was instantly enraged: "Guys, go!"

A chaotic fight erupted instantly!

Moira Young had never seen such a scene; in a panic, she could only remember Evan Howard’s words, tightly gripping his back collar, hiding behind him the whole time.

She never thought Evan Howard was so skilled; the way he deftly fought the thugs reminded her of Heath Sterling.

Her heart steadied slightly.

Soon enough, the total of four thugs including the blond were all knocked to the ground!

Hearing the continuous groans from the ground, Moira Young emerged from behind Evan Howard.

Evan Howard stepped on the blond’s fingers, his tone fierce: "Who’s your grandpa?"

The blond was stepped on, howling: "You’re my grandpa, you’re my grandpa!"

Evan Howard released his foot, turning to look at Moira Young: "How about it, are you alright?"

Moira Young shook her head, about to say she was fine when she saw the blond climb up from the ground and charge at Evan Howard!

And he held a large stone in his hand!
