Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 24: Take It Off
"The meal is ready, young master and miss, please have dinner." Mrs. Miller set the dishes on the table.
Moira Young was already hungry. She got up from the sofa to see what delicious foods were on today’s menu, but was pulled back by Julian Sinclair, causing her to lose balance and sit directly in his lap.
She looked at Julian in a daze.
"Where did this come from?" Julian stared at the necklace between Moira’s collarbones, his face gradually turning dark, and his eyes emanating a cold chill.
Moira sensed his aura but couldn’t understand what was wrong with him.
"A birthday gift from a friend. Isn’t it pretty?" Moira lifted it up for Julian to see, "It’s the initial of my name."
"Who?"
"Carter. I’ve mentioned him to you." Moira raised her hand, revealing the star bracelet. "Uncle, look, Carter’s mom gave me this. I really like it!"
"Take it off." Julian’s expression was blank, and his voice was emotionless.
Moira remained silent, feeling a bit upset. She had finally received a gift from someone other than him or Adrian Grant, so why did she have to take it off?
Julian stood up from the sofa, "In the future, don’t accept any random things like this."
"How can you call this random stuff? It’s a gift... I really like it. Why can’t I wear it?" Moira shrank her hands back. She really didn’t want to take it off.
"You can keep the bracelet, but the necklace must come off."
No room for negotiation—it was an order.
Moira pouted and murmured under her breath, "I’m not taking it off."
Julian looked down at her from above, saying nothing more, but exerting pressure on Moira.
She confronted him for a long time, her stubborn nature clear to Julian, yet he showed no intention of yielding this time.
"Hurry and eat, the food will get cold and won’t be good." Mrs. Miller noticed their conflict and was a bit worried. The young master usually doted on the miss and rarely got angry, so why was he losing his temper twice in such a short period?
"I’m not eating!" Moira stormed off upstairs in a fit of pique.
Over just a necklace, she couldn’t understand why Julian was so upset.
"Miss!"
"Ignore her," Julian frowned, impatiently tugging at his tie, "I’m going abroad tomorrow, make sure to watch over her."
Since that incident two years ago, he rarely stayed away from home, and he would never allow anything to happen to Moira.
Mrs. Miller responded, "Aren’t you planning to inform Miss?"
He didn’t answer directly, just glanced at the dishes on the table, "You’ve worked hard lately, take a few days off once Moira finishes her exams."
"Young master, I’m not tired." Mrs. Miller looked at the stairs leading to the second floor and asked, "Young master, Miss has been studying so hard lately, I feel sorry for her. Honestly, you could just make a call for her to enter any university she wants."
"Things earned through one’s own efforts are always better than those gotten without work," Julian replied calmly.
He never felt sorry for Moira’s endless efforts. On the contrary, he was gratified that she worked so hard.
Because sooner or later, she might lose everything, and by then, she’d have to rely on her own abilities to survive.
So unless absolutely necessary, he would not assist her in this regard.
Thinking of this, Julian lost his appetite for dinner as well.
"Serve it upstairs to her."
Understanding, Mrs. Miller carried a few of Moira’s favorite dishes upstairs.
