Chapter 234: Chapter 234: Starting the Job

Julian Sinclair playfully flicked her nose as a form of punishment.

"But it seems like he submitted his resume, but it was rejected."

Julian then said into the phone, "Check the recently rejected resumes and send them all to me."

And then he hung up.

Moira Young’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she hugged Julian’s arm, "Uncle, you’re so smart! Are you going to send over all the rejected resumes, and then I can look for the photo to find out who it is?"

"Silly girl, helping someone get into a company without even knowing their name."

"Oh, I forgot! The driver kept urging me to go home, and I hurried back because I was worried you’d be waiting for me. Otherwise, I would have asked for sure," Moira pouted.

"Master and Miss, it’s time to eat." Mrs. Miller noticed that Julian and Moira seemed to have returned to their intimate old selves, and her eyes got a bit teary.

"Okay!" Moira was in an especially good mood, feeling that the day had been wonderful.

"By the way, where are the stationery items I bought? Where did I leave them?" Moira was so focused on talking to Julian about Quincy Ruiz that she forgot about them.

"Miss, are you referring to those twenty-something boxes? They’re all placed in the yard." Mrs. Miller served Moira a bowl of soup.

"I’ve found that shopping really does make me feel better. I once read that in a book, and I didn’t believe it at first, but today I do." Moira hadn’t felt this at ease in a long time. "Especially when the things you buy can bring help and happiness to others. Just thinking about it makes me happier."

This was the first time since his amnesia that Julian saw Moira laugh so freely, giving his world new meaning.

He couldn’t help but think that he must have had many years with this carefree Moira before, but why did he choose not to cherish it?

Mr. Miller entered with a laptop, "Young Master, the resumes you wanted are all here."

Moira, halfway through her meal, eagerly leaned over to take a look.

"Finish your meal first." Julian closed the laptop, "No doing other things while eating."

Though Moira was curious to look, she obediently nodded, "Okay."

Julian looked at Mr. Miller, "You should have your meal too."

"Yes, Young Master." Mr. Miller retreated.

However, Mr. Miller didn’t go to eat; he used the mealtime break to call Gary over.

——

In a corner of the yard.

Gary, heavy with dark circles under his eyes, stood exhausted in front of Mr. Miller, receiving a reprimand.

"The master personally asked you to do this, meaning he trusts you. Why couldn’t you finish it quickly?"

Gary looked aggrieved, "Mr. Miller, I know how important this is, but... I’ve been under a lot of pressure lately. My girlfriend and I are on the verge of breaking up, and besides dealing with that, I still have to manage work. I really haven’t had the chance to do the extra tasks."

"What do you mean by ’extra tasks’? Anything the master asks you to do is work, it’s your responsibility." Mr. Miller frowned, feeling a sense of ’hating iron for not becoming steel.’

"Gary, you’ve been by my side for years, how come there’s no progress?"

"I know I was wrong, Mr. Miller. I’ll take care of it now, and I promise to do an excellent job." Gary assured.

"What’s your plan?" Mr. Miller was a bit uneasy.

"As for that girl named Crystal, I’ll make sure she has no chance to slander Miss Young, and as for that Vivi..." Gary hesitated, unsure.

"The one named Vivi can be easily handled, just give her a warning." Mr. Miller thought Vivi wasn’t enough of a threat to Moira, she just didn’t speak kindly.

"Okay, Mr. Miller, I understand. I’ll take care of it right away."

——

In the living room, on the sofa.

Moira lay in Julian’s arms with the laptop on her belly, looking at resumes one by one.

Julian was reviewing documents. Before Moira came, he hadn’t thought about coming home early. After she moved in, he started handling major company affairs first, bringing minor tasks home to deal with.

Each of them focused on their own work without interrupting the other.

Moira had already gotten used to this way of living, as this was how they spent almost every day during those past years.

On the other hand, Julian, although finding this scene familiar, was experiencing it as a new sensation.

To him, it was a peculiar feeling.

Moira had been looking for a long time and finally became drowsy, complaining, "Why does your company reject so many resumes... it’s making me sleepy."

"Then don’t look anymore." Julian was about to take the laptop, "Go to sleep."

"No, I want to keep looking." Moira refused, "I promised the person."

Julian didn’t press her, "When you can’t hold it anymore, you have to stop."

"Okay..." Moira tried her best to keep her eyes wide open, afraid of mistaking anyone. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

After a while, finally, "Found it!"

"It’s him, it’s him!" Moira excitedly pointed at a resume on the laptop screen, "So tired, but I finally found it."

"Give it to me." Julian took the laptop from her.

Moira was so sleepy she laid her head on Julian’s leg, trying hard to see what he was doing.

Julian sent an email.

Moira, her eyes blurry from looking at the resumes, asked, "Who did you send it to?"

"Human Resources."

"Why not have Mr. Miller send it?"

"He needs to rest." Julian said it in a very ordinary manner, but there was weight to it.

Ever since rescuing Mr. Miller, his health hadn’t been quite right, so Julian wouldn’t let him handle things when he had time to do them himself.

"Alright... I need to rest too..." Moira said drowsily, falling asleep on Julian’s leg.

Julian glanced down at the defenseless girl resting on his legs, and couldn’t resist kissing her forehead.

Soon, Human Resources replied to Julian’s email, "Julian, the offer has been sent to Quincy Ruiz’s email, and he can start tomorrow."

Julian closed the laptop, gently lifted Moira up, and carried her back to her room.

Whether it was because she was lightly asleep or because Julian’s movements were a bit forceful, Moira woke up just as she was placed on the bed.

"Why didn’t you wake me? I haven’t showered yet." Moira sat up, rubbing her eyes, looking very sleepy.

"I’ll go draw you a bath." Julian tidied her messy hair.

"Okay." Moira yawned and lay back down.

After a while, Julian had run the bath and found that Moira had fallen asleep again, and he just couldn’t bring himself to wake her.

After considering it for a moment, Julian decided to let her rest.

Just as he turned to leave, Moira suddenly grabbed his hand tightly.
