Chapter 214: Chapter 214: Trap

Fiona’s father couldn’t stop her, and Fiona felt a little deflated that she couldn’t get what she wanted today.

"You, go get some sobering tea. Julian still has work to do tonight and needs to be sober." Fiona’s second brother gave the maid a look, and she immediately understood.

"No need, I can drink it when I get back," Julian had already stood up and was walking out.

The second brother immediately looked at Fiona and whispered, "Hurry up and stop him, your second brother has a brilliant plan!"

Although Fiona didn’t know exactly what her second brother was talking about, in the urgency of the situation, she had no choice but to comply. She hurriedly chased after Julian, then grabbed his arm.

"Julian, wait for me!"

Just at this moment, the lights in the dining room suddenly dimmed!

Fiona’s father and mother didn’t react in time, "What’s going on? Is it a power outage?"

Her second brother seized the opportunity to push Fiona forward, and she immediately understood. In the darkness, she plunged into Julian’s arms and kissed him!

Yet again at this moment, all the lights in the restaurant turned on!

"Click—" With a sound, the second brother happily took a picture with his phone.

"Making out in the dark? That’s quite something!" The second brother also deliberately remarked.

Julian’s face turned gloomy as he broke free from Fiona. He had never imagined that the Rhodes family would play dirty!

Fiona’s father and mother were a bit embarrassed and said a few words with a smile before quietly leaving.

The dining room was left with only Fiona and Julian.

"Julian, you’re not angry, are you?" Fiona knew that Julian must be angry, but she pretended not to know, asking cautiously.

"Do you want to marry me that much?" Julian was really impatient, the veins bulging on the back of his hand filled with suppressed anger.

Fiona didn’t expect Julian to ask this, her eyes reddened, "You always said you would marry me since we were kids, have you forgotten all that?"

"We were so young back then. Every time I was bullied, you’d always stand in front of my two brothers to protect me. Have you forgotten all that?"

"You’d buy me my favorite snacks, and when my dad scolded me, you’d sneak over to comfort me. Have you forgotten all that?"

The more Fiona spoke, the more agitated she became. She deeply understood one principle: to make others believe you, you must first convince yourself to believe it’s all true.

The words she invented had, in her current state, turned into events that had genuinely happened.

Although Julian didn’t believe her, Fiona’s tears slid down the corners of her eyes, and she looked at Julian silently and aggrieved, attempting to find a shred of softness.

Gradually, the veins on the back of Julian’s hand slowly subsided.

Just when Fiona thought Julian believed her—

"Don’t bring up the past, it means nothing."

Julian’s eyes were icy cold, and he turned aside Fiona’s shoulder and left the Rhodes family.

Fiona stared blankly at the empty dining room for a while. In the past, when she’d see Julian, he’d always deliberately act as if he loved her, and she’d almost gotten used to it, thinking it was true love.

Now, looking at the unintentional Julian, he seemed so cold, so daunting.

Fiona suddenly laughed. It was the first time she realized Julian was so unfathomably handsome.

Amazingly... he truly touched her heart...

She wiped her tears and walked into the living room, where the whole family sat neatly on the sofa, waiting for her.

"How did it go?" The second brother asked with a beaming smile.

Fiona glanced at him and let out a long breath, "Being able to bring him home today signifies hope. Don’t rush anything; everything needs to be taken slowly."

Her father nodded in satisfaction, "My daughter has grown up and understands reasoning now."

"At twenty-something, if you don’t understand, you’ll never get married in this life," mocked the second brother.

"Julian will return to me sooner or later, just wait and see!"

——

When Julian got home, he checked the time. It was six in the morning Beijing time.

Moira Young probably wasn’t awake yet.

He drank some sobering tea prepared by the maid and then took a shower. After a long day, the only thing on his mind was Moira, leaving no room for anything else.

Julian lay in bed for a long time, unable to sleep. He opened his eyes and called Adrian Grant.

Adrian’s sleepy voice came from the other end of the line, "What is it...?"

"What time did you go to bed?" Julian asked.

"Why do you care when I sleep? I sleep whenever I want..." Adrian paused, "You’re probably asking when Moira went to bed, aren’t you?"

Julian’s lips curled slightly as he was caught, "So, what time did she go to bed?"

"Go ask her yourself! I want to catch up on sleep!" Adrian finished speaking and abruptly hung up the phone.

Julian looked at the phone screen with a headache, thought for a moment, and then called Mrs. Miller.

"Young master, Miss Moira is still resting. I’ll let you know as soon as she wakes up." Mrs. Miller had gotten up early to buy groceries, but when she received Julian’s call, her instinct was to inform him about Moira.

Julian didn’t realize that Mrs. Miller was just acting on instinct; he thought she was hinting at something unsaid, which made things a bit awkward.

"Mrs. Miller, Mr. Miller’s phone seems to be unreachable; where is he?" Julian feigned ignorance about asking anything regarding Moira.

Mrs. Miller muttered to herself on the other end, which Julian heard clearly.

"That’s not possible, I just called to ask when he’s coming."

"I’ll try calling again," Julian said before hanging up.

Mrs. Miller said Moira was still asleep, and Julian felt a bit restless, wanting impulsively to return home immediately to see her.

The thought of Moira currently living at home inexplicably lifted his spirits.

Originally, Julian had planned to let Moira rest for a couple of days, but now it seemed impossible.

Julian called Gary and told him to prepare for an immediate return home.

When Julian boarded the plane, Gary stood by, looking wilted, with heavy dark circles.

The pilot and co-pilot had also been replaced.

Julian realized that everyone hadn’t rested since they flew over from China.

"Go get some rest," Julian said, glancing at Gary.

Gary bowed slightly, "Thank you, Julian."

With that, he went to the back to rest.

Julian adjusted his seat. He needed to rest as well, and even though he’d see her in a few hours, he didn’t want to miss her, not even in his dreams.

A few hours later, the plane landed at The Sinclair Group’s private airport. Gary had already been awakened, but he didn’t dare wake Julian.

Several people pushed each other at the back, deciding who should wake him, but no one wanted to go.

Luckily, Julian sensed the plane landing and woke up on his own.
