Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 164: Harm
She was unwilling to even say Julian Sinclair’s name.
She was afraid of dirtying her mouth.
Mr. Sterling didn’t want to meddle in their personal affairs, "Child, I believe your heart is kind, so as an elder, I ask you here to stay away from Heath from now on. The damage you’ve caused him and the Sterling family is simply too much."
"The Sterling family?" Moira Young was confused, wondering when she had ever caused harm to them?
"Previously, you had conflicts with Heath’s mother, and Julian took away most of my shares for your sake. The Sterling Group nearly changed its name." The thought of this made Mr. Sterling feel suffocated, clutching his chest and hunching his back to ease his discomfort.
Moira Young furrowed her brow, her watery eyes filled with disbelief as she looked at him. How did she not know about this?
"Fate has played tricks on you both, and you and Heath are still young. Many things are hard to understand in their severity." Mr. Sterling shook his head helplessly, "Leave and don’t come back again."
Saying that, Mr. Sterling supported himself against the wall, slowly making his way back to the hospital room.
Moira Young stood dazed against the wall for a long time, her vision shrouded by a mist of tears. She couldn’t understand why she felt so upset.
Was it guilt toward Heath?
Or was it because... she had thought again of someone she shouldn’t...
After a long while, Moira Young tilted her head up, trying her best to pull back her tears.
At that moment, her phone suddenly rang; it was a call from Lee.
Moira Young trembled all over, the terrifying scene from last night still spinning in her mind, her hand shook, almost dropping the phone.
Moira didn’t know if Lee and Glen Guthrie were accomplices. She couldn’t guess, carefully answering the call.
"Moira, Heath said he’s shut himself off. I couldn’t figure out what he meant after trying for ages. Are you with him?" Lee asked.
"He needs rest lately." Moira steadied her voice.
"Alright then, we don’t need him much at the moment, mainly you. Could you come to the company for a bit?" Lee instructed.
Moira’s hand was already sweating, with Heath lying on a hospital bed; she was the only one who could go. To tell the truth, she was very afraid.
But there was no choice; she had signed a contract and had to go.
Now she hoped that Lee and Glen Guthrie weren’t in cahoots.
Moira hailed a taxi to the company. After arriving, she hesitated at the entrance for a long time, receiving several urging calls from Lee before nervously entering the company.
"Moira, come here, let me tell you your schedule for the next few days." Lee seemed in high spirits, holding a sheet of paper and beckoning Moira over.
Moira warily glanced around and only sat down after noticing Glen Guthrie wasn’t there.
"I’m telling you, you’ve advanced in the talent show competition. Tomorrow night you have to compete again, and during the day you need to record a VCR over there, essentially a promotion clip for yourself, which is used for garnering votes."
Moira nodded to show she understood.
"Tomorrow night the results will be announced on the spot, whether you advance or not. If you do, you’ll pack your luggage and move into their designated house for a week, with daily training. Then a week later, there’s a performance, voted by fans to select the top three performers."
Lee explained patiently, "Since you’re showing signs of becoming popular, let’s try our best to be in the top three, ideally first place."
"Although first place might be a bit unrealistic, cheer up. You might have great audience appeal, right?" Lee coughed lightly. Despite Moira having a considerably higher appearance than the contestants, her reserved personality didn’t fit the current celebrity trend, where outspoken stars were more liked.
Moira continued to nod.
"If you don’t advance tomorrow night, it’s fine. The company will let you participate in other talent shows." Lee comforted.
"Also—" Lee’s phone suddenly rang; it was a call from the boss.
Moira didn’t know what they were discussing, but she clearly noticed Lee’s expression becoming somber.
After hanging up, Lee told Moira, "We’ll talk more tomorrow. A big shot from the company is coming, and the boss told me to attend a meeting."
Moira nodded again, "Mm."
Lee got up brashly, ready to leave, but stopped suddenly, "By the way, you’re recording the VCR tomorrow afternoon, so come to the company in the morning, and let’s plan the content together."
He then left.
After Lee left, Moira felt repulsion towards the empty office. She felt it wise not to linger and quickly left.
Just as she exited the office, Vivi and another female artist walked by. Moira wanted to hide but was called out regardless.
"Stop!" Vivi’s voice was somewhat sharp.
Reluctantly, Moira stopped, turned around, and lowered her head, "Vivi, sis."
The female artist with Vivi chuckled, "I think it’s okay, very respectful to you."
This comment left Vivi speechless, prompting Moira to glance at the speaking artist just as their eyes met.
"You must be Moira Young? Youth is wonderful, so likable." The female artist approached.
"You can call me Annie sis from now on; I’m a few years older than you." Annie seemed fond of her.
Vivi discreetly rolled her eyes behind, "Annie sis, we should go; Glen called several times urging us."
Annie’s face suddenly turned pale, Moira noticed Annie’s change.
"Alright, we’ll go now." Annie replied.
Moira suddenly recalled Glen saying every new female artist in the company had to pass his test. If that were true, did his phone have videos of all female artists in the company?
So... does it include Annie and Vivi?
"Moira, are you visiting Glen in the hospital?" Vivi suddenly questioned, seeming to probe for something.
Moira’s eyes flashed a hint of panic.
Understanding women’s instincts, Vivi asked deliberately, quickly catching Moira’s reaction.
Then Vivi nodded thoughtfully, not forgetting to glance at Annie, "Sigh, some people seem innocent and untarnished when they first join the company, but ultimately the ink taints them."
Annie’s face turned whiter; she forced a smile, "Alright, let’s go quickly."
Moira clenched her hand, trying hard to filter out Vivi’s words.
Yet, they mentioned visiting Glen in the hospital; did Glen get hospitalized too?
Moira didn’t want to picture Glen anymore, she vigorously patted her head, advising herself not to scare herself continually.
After staying up all night, she was extremely exhausted, barely holding on, so she opted to go home to rest.
She kept telling herself that only by resting well could she work like normal tomorrow, with many things still awaiting her.
