Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 137: Dead End
It was half past four in the morning, and the rain poured down.
Moira Young was almost exhausted; she trembled as she took out the keys to her home and slowly unlocked the door.
She stepped inside, closed the door, and collapsed powerlessly onto the ground.
The cold floor froze her tears, leaving only an empty, despairing gaze.
After a long time, Moira Young finally crawled up from the floor, dragging her heavy, disheveled body into the bathroom for a shower. She looked at the gruesome scar on the inside of her wrist and found it absurdly funny. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Once, she treated him as her entire life.
But now, she saw him as a stain on her life.
This time, she wouldn’t choose suicide again; she thought the name Julian Sinclair was simply not worth such a drastic action.
Moira Young shut herself in her home for several days without anyone coming to find her.
Later, Moira Young became very afraid that Julian Sinclair might come looking for her, so she went outside, sold the house Adrian Grant had exchanged for her, determined to completely shake off the past.
Moira Young first went to a phone shop to get a new SIM card. To avoid sleeping on the streets, she used the money from selling the house to buy a smaller apartment, making sure it wasn’t another property belonging to Adrian Grant’s family.
In doing so, she saved quite a bit of money to plan for her future.
Having handled everything, Moira Young decided to return to school to attend classes again.
A week later.
In the school corridor, Moira Young saw Heath Sterling’s figure. She furrowed her brows slightly, and an intent to evade appeared on her pretty face.
Her throat moved, and after hesitating for a few seconds, she prepared to turn around and leave, planning to enter the classroom once Heath Sterling was gone.
But unexpectedly, he still noticed her.
"Moira Young—!" Heath Sterling shouted, causing everyone to look in the direction of the voice.
Heath Sterling ran over, his eyes filled with what seemed to be surprise or something else, as excited as a child: "I finally get to see you! On the day of the incident, I originally snuck out to bail you out, but the police said you’d already been bailed out. I figured Julian Sinclair must have come and was reassured."
At the mention of Julian Sinclair’s name, Moira Young’s expression became slightly wary.
Seeing her pale complexion, Heath Sterling couldn’t help but ask with concern, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
The school bell rang, and all the students who had been peeking from behind the classroom door rushed back inside as the teacher arrived.
"You two, it’s class time now. Save the romance for after class!" A gossipy teacher suddenly said with a smile, causing many to giggle.
Moira Young felt a bit embarrassed; she left Heath Sterling behind and ran into the classroom alone, sitting at her old seat.
Heath Sterling naturally followed, feeling that Moira Young seemed odd and worried about her condition.
Moreover, when he mentioned Julian Sinclair earlier, her defensive expression was obvious. Heath Sterling, being straightforward, couldn’t understand such intricacies and thought Moira Young was just scared from the previous incident and had yet to recover.
Heath Sterling sat next to Moira Young.
The teacher was lecturing, while Heath Sterling secretly observed Moira Young.
Until Moira Young, unable to endure Heath Sterling’s staring any longer, whispered, "Stop looking at me like that."
With thick skin, Heath Sterling chuckled, "So how should I look at you?"
Moira Young didn’t know how to answer, so she simply asked, "Don’t you have a game or practice recently?"
"They’re there, but none of it is as important as you."
"Heath Sterling, don’t say things like that again." Moira Young’s expression suddenly turned distant; she couldn’t bear anyone saying she was important right now.
Heath Sterling blinked, confused by Moira Young’s change. He wondered if Julian Sinclair was forbidding her from seeing him again.
Since he couldn’t figure it out, Heath Sterling decided not to think about it.
"You big dummy, what do you want to eat for lunch? We haven’t had a meal together in ages; let’s call Carter Porter, that guy too," Heath Sterling muttered, "He hasn’t had a decent meal for days; maybe seeing you will cheer him up."
"Carter Porter?" Moira Young’s nerves suddenly tightened.
That night, when the police arrived, Carter Porter ran without saying a word, and it was Heath Sterling who shouldered the blame. Moira Young was actually curious; did Heath Sterling not blame him?
"Yeah, you big dummy, don’t feel pressured. It’s all in the past now, and it’s resolved; just three million, I’ll earn that in a few games," Heath Sterling consoled.
Moira Young didn’t expect Heath Sterling not only didn’t blame Carter Porter, but he didn’t blame her at all either.
She had instigated the incident, and by rights, everyone taken to the police station because of it should hate her.
"You...don’t blame me?" Moira Young’s fingers unconsciously flipped the pages of a book back and forth.
"Would you blame me? For failing to protect you, for not being able to bail you out in time," Heath Sterling’s eyes held a cosmic beauty, making one yearn.
Moira Young immediately replied, "Why would I blame you? I’m the one who—"
"Exactly, why would I blame you!" Heath Sterling grinned, "Don’t overthink it; I’ll text Carter Porter now, telling him not to leave after class, we’ll go find him."
"Then let me treat this meal," Moira Young bit her lower lip, wanting to make amends.
"Let Carter Porter treat first, then me, and lastly, you. How about that?" Heath Sterling’s mind worked fast; he just wanted to have another meal with Moira Young.
Moira Young hesitated, feeling it was improper, but not knowing how to refuse, she had to agree.
"The two students in the corner, don’t conduct romance during class," suddenly, the teacher’s voice came from the podium, a young female teacher, "It’s not just other students who can’t focus on the lesson; even I can’t resist watching you."
Moira Young panicked and immediately lowered her head; why did people always misunderstand...
"You two are probably the most attractive pair at Arden University, right?" the female teacher joked.
The girls in the class nodded along, eyes full of envy. At the start, most were jealous of Moira Young, saying her looks were stunning at first glance but not impressive on further inspection. As time passed, they found her increasingly beautiful...
Heath Sterling leaned back casually, hands in his pockets. But the rickety chair couldn’t hold, and he tipped over...
Heath Sterling fell awkwardly, causing an awkward scene...
Moira Young paused for a long time, then burst into giggles, as if her funny bone was hit, breaking the awkwardness.
She laughed so hard her stomach ached, and tears spilled.
Time flew, and the whole class passed in this cheerful atmosphere, leaving Moira Young feeling much better.
