Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 135: Bail Her Out
After Butler Liu hung up the phone, he immediately drove to the police station, but as soon as he arrived at the entrance, he was blocked by a group of people.
Zayne Sinclair stepped out from the crowd, looked at Butler Liu, and said with a smile, "Butler Liu, what a coincidence."
"Master Julian." Butler Liu felt something was wrong.
"Hmm, considering you’re quite respectful, I’ll tell you this: until Julian Sinclair arrives, none of you can think of entering this police station." After speaking, he waved his hand, and the group surrounded Butler Liu’s company, holding them down.
"Master Julian! This is a police station!" Butler Liu never expected Zayne Sinclair to be so blatant!
"So what if it’s the police station? I’m just inviting you into my car for a chat, not committing murder or kidnapping." Zayne Sinclair signaled for them to take Butler Liu’s group into the car.
They confiscated all phones and any communication devices.
Zayne Sinclair leaned against the car, a smirk on his lips; he didn’t believe Julian Sinclair would escape this time!
Inside the police station, everyone’s statements were recorded, and only Moira Young was left.
She walked into the small room with a dim look in her eyes, her body covered in dirt, her hair messy and loose.
"What’s your name?" the police officer asked.
"Moira Young."
"Age."
"Nineteen." Moira Young knew these questions were just routine; the police had detailed personal information, and the crucial questions were coming later.
The police officer looked closely at Moira Young, with the judgemental gaze for criminals, "What was the reason for initiating the knife fight?"
Moira Young’s nose stung, unsure of how to answer.
"Who started the fight?"
Moira Young recalled, "That person laid hands on me, so I..."
"How did you fight back? Was there a weapon?"
"A wine bottle..."
The officer was recording on the computer as he asked, "The medical report indicates the stabbed individual is dead. You were on the scene; who did the killing?"
Moira Young felt a surge of anxiety; she was inexperienced and naive, her psychological state evident on her face, which the officer noticed.
"I know you saw it; tell the truth."
"Officer, it was self-defense! If he hadn’t fought back, he would have been the one dead!" Moira Young’s eyes reddened as she anxiously explained.
"These matters need to be said in court. Right now, I just need you to tell me, who was the killer?" The officer’s eyes were sharp as he stared at her.
Moira Young’s body was still trembling; she lowered her gaze and remained silent.
"If you don’t speak, then it’s harboring a criminal, and you’ll go to prison too!" the officer spoke sternly, deliberately intimidating Moira Young.
"I... I was terrified then, I don’t know..." Moira Young instinctively shook her head, "Officer, it all happened because of me; I thought it was my personal affair, I didn’t expect it to involve so many people..."
"Arrest me if you want, I’m the source of all this..."
Moira Young’s gaze was earnest; she had nothing left now, expecting nothing more.
The officer frowned, the most frustrating types were offenders willing to take the fall for others. All participants’ statements were recorded, so roughly, he could confirm the suspect from what he had.
"This attitude will only let the murderer get away. You’re an adult; think about the consequences."
Moira Young became nervous hearing this, "He’s not the murderer... he truly was defending himself..."
The officer went silent for a moment and asked again, "Are you a student at Arden University?"
Moira Young nodded hesitantly.
"This matter will soon be reported to your school. Since it involves a death, you will definitely be expelled."
Moira Young internally let out a bitter smile. Being expelled didn’t matter, she couldn’t care less now.
"I’ll ask you one last time, who killed that person?"
Moira Young bit her lip hard, still choosing to remain silent about the matter.
Seeing her uncooperative, the police could only temporarily detain her.
When Heath Sterling returned from the hospital, he found his parents here questioning people, but other students’ parents hadn’t come. He understood a bit, the charge should have been taken successfully.
"Officer, our Heath couldn’t possibly kill someone! Isn’t this a misunderstanding?" Heath’s mother was so anxious; she wished she had ten mouths.
"Mom." Heath walked over.
"Heath, are you hurt?" Heath’s parents worriedly walked over to check his injuries.
"Mom, it was self-defense, not intentional wounding." Heath knew he shouldn’t be in trouble, as his parents would certainly hire the best lawyers.
Furthermore, this really was just self-defense.
"The suspect has already confessed and will be detained by law." A police officer approached and put handcuffs on Heath.
Before, Heath had been to the police station for fights, but this was his mother’s first time seeing him in handcuffs...
Crying, she grabbed the officer, pleading, "Officer, I want to talk to the victim’s family."
The officer pointed ahead, "Third room from the end down the hallway."
Heath’s father wasn’t well, so fearing he would worry, his mother let him wait in the lobby and went to the room alone.
Pushing the door open, she found only a young woman inside, holding a swaddled infant in her arms.
"Hello." Heath’s mother hesitated as she walked in, "I’m Heath’s mother."
The woman, with tear-filled eyes, glanced at Heath’s mom, then fixed her eyes back on her child.
"Do you have any requests? We’ll do our best to meet them..." Heath’s mother said carefully.
The woman softly said, "A life for a life."
Heath’s mother’s heart skipped a beat, almost losing her breath, a hand instinctively held onto the wall, "Clearly, it was your husband who wielded a knife against my son, and my son defended himself. Now I’ve come to discuss settling privately; if you don’t agree, fine, we’ll see you in court. Then talking terms with me will be impossible!"
The young woman caught onto this, her expression turning arrogant, she said, "A flat rate, two million."
Hearing this, Heath’s mother’s chest, once tight, loosened immediately; she agreed without hesitation to the two million.
"Just two million, let’s go tell the officers now."
The woman hadn’t expected Heath’s mother to agree so readily and suddenly changed her mind, "Five million!"
Heath’s mother looked at her incredulously, inflamed with anger, her eyes bloodshot, "Don’t push your luck! There are recordings here, you won’t get away with it!"
"I will give you three million, no more, or see you in court!" Heath’s mother now really didn’t want Heath to go to court. Although it was self-defense, the fewer people who knew, the better.
The young woman hesitated, previously her husband had committed murder successfully framing someone else. Settling privately was undoubtedly the best option; otherwise, if it went to court and past deeds were uncovered, they’d be finished.
"Alright, I agree." The woman followed Heath’s mother to find the same officer to explain the situation.
The policeman said, "Since it’s a murder case and you want to settle privately, we won’t stop you."
Heath’s mother finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Officer, when can my son be released?"
"In 72 hours."
Heath’s mom was worried, "My son hasn’t suffered before, I’m afraid he won’t adjust here; could he be bailed out earlier?"
The officer gave her a light glance, "Hmm."
The clouds on Heath’s mother’s face dissipated halfway; she paid the bail and brought Heath out.
Unexpectedly, Heath refused to leave, "Mom, Moira Young is still here, can you bail her out too?"
Before his mother could refuse, Heath’s father sternly approached, "If you want me to live a few more years, come home with me now!"
Heath was reluctant, "Isn’t it just some money? I have some too."
With that, Heath planned to bail out Moira Young himself.
"Heath, Master Julian will bail her out; if you stir up any more trouble, I’ll disown you!"
Heath paused, "Dad, isn’t that extreme?"
Since signing the share transfer agreement, Heath’s father cared about Heath’s friends circle; could his useless son get involved with Julian Sinclair’s woman?
"Let’s go home, you must be hungry. Mom will make you something delicious." Heath’s mother knew his father was serious now; she forced a smile to ease things up, dragging Heath home.
Heath anxiously looked back at the police station entrance getting further away, now only hoping Julian Sinclair would come quickly to relieve Moira Young’s helplessness.
