Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Fragrance

"Don’t worry about it, just keep going, no matter what happens, don’t stop the car," Butler Liu signaled with a serious face.

The driver responded and prepared to start the engine, but unexpectedly, after several attempts, it wouldn’t start.

"What’s going on now?" Butler Liu felt something was off.

"It seems broken, I need to open the hood and take a look." The driver was also puzzled, muttering to himself, "Strange, this car has never had this kind of problem."

Seeing the driver scratching his head cluelessly while checking, Butler Liu felt they couldn’t linger on the road for long, so he got out of the car to see what was going on.

"Miss, you absolutely must not get out of the car."

Moira Young nodded, actually quite terrified of the pitch-dark environment around her, so she naturally didn’t dare get out of the car.

But for some reason, she faintly smelled a mysterious scent, and gradually, she lost consciousness without knowing what happened.

When she woke up, her head felt heavy. For the first few seconds after opening her eyes, her mind was blank. It wasn’t until she saw her unfamiliar surroundings that she frantically sat up.

This was a very unfamiliar bedroom, with beautiful decoration all around. At first, Moira Young thought she had been kidnapped, but on further thought, it didn’t seem like it.

Could it be... Julian Sinclair brought her to the Sinclair family?

The thought made Moira Young feel much more at ease. She got out of bed to open the door, only to find it locked.

Moira Young frowned in disbelief, tugging the door handle several more times, but it still wouldn’t open.

Her nerves suddenly tightened, and a sense of suppression and fear began to rise in her heart. She completely didn’t know what had happened—why smelling a scent in the car made her lose consciousness?

Why was she in this unfamiliar environment upon waking up?

What on earth... happened...

The door handle, which Moira Young was tightly gripping, suddenly moved, and Moira Young instinctively withdrew her hand as if she had been shocked, subconsciously holding her breath and hiding behind the door.

The door opened, and a middle-aged man hobbled in with a cane. Through the crack, Moira Young saw his back, feeling inexplicably that she had seen him somewhere before.

The middle-aged man saw that the room was empty and suddenly realized something, turning around abruptly!

Moira Young met his gaze through the crack, her heart stopping—It was Arthur Whitman!

She trembled all over, a voice in her head constantly telling her to run out immediately!

Moira Young’s face turned ashen, and regardless of everything, she seized the chance while Arthur Whitman was still far from her, and dashed outside with all her might.

Just as she reached the corner of the floor, she collided head-on with a solid chest, causing her to stagger backward several steps and collapse onto the floor due to inertia.

Moira Young’s nose tingled, tears instantly blurring her vision—oh, it hurts!

"Where are you trying to go?" Zayne Sinclair rubbed his chest, which also hurt a bit from the collision, but he was amused by her embarrassed look.

Moira Young finally saw his face clearly and suddenly remembered what Zayne Sinclair had done to her last time in Vesperia. She detested him deeply.

Zayne Sinclair’s eyes shifted from Moira Young to behind her, "Your daughter sure is incredibly beautiful."

Moira Young turned back and saw Arthur Whitman limping toward them.

She remembered Julian Sinclair once saying that Arthur Whitman and Zayne Sinclair were partners in the arms trade, but... What had they captured her for?

Arthur Whitman asked leisurely, "Is the meeting over?"

"Yes, I was eager to leave the meeting. It was just shy of announcing Julian Sinclair’s successful takeover." Zayne Sinclair spoke of Julian Sinclair with hatred written all over his face.

Moira Young’s first thought was that Julian Sinclair wasn’t hurt. She had been deceived.

"Don’t worry, there’s still a long way to go." Arthur Whitman narrowed his eyes walking over to Moira Young, intending to help her up.

Moira Young shrank back as if seeing a ghost, holding back her tears to stand up against the wall. Cornered between two men, she had no way out.

"Are you that afraid of me?" Arthur Whitman looked at her appearance and was reminded of the past, of how much he liked the Young family’s daughter back then. But reality was always cruel; they each got married and had children and never saw each other again.

He had always kept her in his thoughts, never expecting that she would leave him a child, and a beautiful one at that—who wouldn’t like it?

Moira Young pursed her lips tightly without uttering a word.

"Little girl, it’s normal to be afraid." Zayne Sinclair joined in, "After you marry me, you’ll grow up."

Moira Young was stunned, thinking she heard wrong. What did he just say?

"We’ll be family soon, don’t forget your promise." Zayne Sinclair was interested in Moira Young only because she was Julian Sinclair’s woman. What he cared most about was the agreement with Arthur Whitman.

"You’re my son-in-law, so of course, I’ll help you rise to power." Arthur Whitman spoke as if it was a matter of course.

But the only thing Arthur Whitman was worried about now was whether his daughter, used as a pawn by Julian Sinclair, really had the leverage to threaten Julian Sinclair.

"That’s good." Zayne Sinclair was intrigued, speaking as if intentionally for Moira Young to hear, "Today those old-timers said that the day after tomorrow, Julian Sinclair would hold the engagement ceremony with Fiona Rhodes. I’ll take this girl to attend it then."

Zayne Sinclair’s eyes gleamed with slyness—the biggest plan was during the engagement ceremony.

Moira Young felt weak in her legs, almost collapsing to the ground. She couldn’t believe Julian Sinclair was going to get engaged to Fiona Rhodes!

Why hadn’t Julian Sinclair mentioned a word about it to her?

"You’re lying!" Moira Young bit her lower lip hard, convinced the two men were up to no good. In her mind, Arthur Whitman, having been toppled by Julian Sinclair, would undoubtedly be seeking revenge!

"What? He didn’t tell you?" Zayne Sinclair stepped closer, gripping Moira Young’s chin with interest, saying, "No matter, we’ll get engaged tomorrow, a day before him. Then you can rightfully attend his engagement ceremony with me."

"I’ll stay here tonight." Zayne Sinclair was suddenly captivated by Moira Young’s enchanting eyes, a thought flashing through his mind.

"No, you aren’t married yet." Arthur Whitman flatly denied, his tone authoritative and fatherly.

"Back in your day, having affairs before marriage was fine, but in today’s world, it’s not? Why can’t I?" Zayne Sinclair wasn’t afraid of him. They were partners, and once the plan succeeded and Zayne Sinclair held the power, Arthur Whitman, now a fallen figure, wouldn’t stand a chance.

Arthur Whitman glanced deeply at Moira Young, who was trembling in fear, slowly turned away—oh well, they were going to get married anyways.

He hobbled away with his cane, leaving only Zayne Sinclair and Moira Young in the room.

Moira Young looked at him as if she were looking at a demon, her fear and aversion was apparent and genuine, yet the more she appeared that way, the more Zayne Sinclair was determined to conquer her.

"What are you afraid of?" Zayne Sinclair pulled her close, "Do you think that cold and dull personality of Julian Sinclair can make you happy? You’d better just obediently be with me; my personality is much better than his."

"At least—" Zayne Sinclair suddenly lifted her horizontally in his arms, smirking, "I am more fun than he is."
