Sweet Revenge With My Billionaire Vampire-Chapter 154: You’re Pregnant.
Adeline heard the soft thud of the suitcase being placed down, the sound of the latches being clicked open, followed by the rustle and clink of something being set on the glass table before her.
Then came the unmistakable sound of a bottle being uncapped, and then the sound of liquid pouring into glass. Frowning faintly, she slowly opened her eyes.
Across from her, Andrei was stooped near the glass coffee table, calmly pouring dark, thick blood from a blood bag into the wine glass on the table.
"What... What are you doing?" she asked quietly.
Andrei didn’t look up, continuing to pour until the blood bag sagged in his hand, nearly half empty. He set the bag aside and lifted the filled glass, his long fingers wrapped neatly around its stem.
Straightening up, he extended it towards her. "Here. Drink this. It’ll help with the tiredness."
Adeline stiffened, her gaze shifting between the glass and Andrei’s calm face. She then turned her head away, shaking her head. "I don’t need that right now. What I need... is for you to tell me what happened back there. Why did that man—why did Enzo’s father—take him?"
With a small nod, Andrei pushed the glass closer. "I’ll explain. But please—just take this first."
Adeline glanced back at him, her eyes narrowing slightly, but after a moment, she reached out with slow, reluctant fingers, wrapping her hands around the glass. She didn’t drink right away, just cupped it gently in her lap, the base pressing against her thighs as she looked up at Andrei expectantly.
Andrei lowered himself onto the edge of the glass table across from her, his elbows resting on his knees as he clasped his hands together. "As you already know, that man was Enzo’s father. His name is Damien Laureati. As for why he took Enzo the way he did... well, that’s a long story."
"You see... our world is different from this one. It’s not like here, where there are separate countries, presidents, and governors. Our world is ruled by a single figure. A king or a queen. And right now, the one ruling it is Enzo’s father, Lord Damien."
"His time to step down is approaching, and Enzo is the heir to the throne. But Enzo refuses to take it."
Adeline’s eyes widened, her mouth parting slightly in surprise as she straightened in her seat. "But why doesn’t he want to take the throne?"
Slowly, Andrei shook his head, a flicker of disappointment briefly passing through his eyes. "About half a century ago, Lord Damien agreed to let Enzo come here. To live in this world, to experience something outside of the endless duties and pressures of nobility. Damien wanted Enzo to have fun, to enjoy life a little before the weight of the crown settled on his shoulders."
He pinched the bridge of his nose lightly, a quiet sigh slipping from his lips. "It was meant to be temporary, but looking back... that was clearly a mistake. Master Enzo got too comfortable here. He fell in love with this life, the freedom and the simplicity. So he refused to return." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"He stopped replying to his father’s letters, stopped answering the summons, and ignored every command Damien sent. I always believed he’d change his mind and that he’d see sense and go back when the time came."
"But then, he met you. When he realized you were his mate, it became clear that he had no intention of ever going back."
For a moment, the room fell into thick silence, the soft ticking of the clock the only sound between them.
"And now," Andrei continued softly, "after years of ignoring his father’s demands... Lord Damien finally lost his patience. And he came to drag Enzo back himself."
Lifting a hand, he gestured his fingers towards the wine glass in her hands. "That’s it. If you don’t have any more questions... please, drink that. You need your strength."
Adeline’s fingers curled tightly around the wine glass, and the moment she stared down at the deep, swirling red inside, a sudden wave of dizziness swept over her, making her vision blur at the edges.
Her stomach tightened uncomfortably, a nauseous churning rising in her throat, just like earlier when she had returned from that visit to the prison with Enzo.
A low groan escaped her lips as she leaned forward, placing the glass onto the table. She leaned into her palm, rubbing her face with a trembling hand as she tried to will the sensation away.
Andrei, who had been watching her with a quiet, measured gaze, tilted his head slightly, a flicker of concern passing over his face. "Miss Adeline... Are you alright?"
Adeline shook her head, squeezing her eyes shut. "No... no, I don’t think so. Ever since today, I’ve been feeling dizzy... nauseous... and my head’s been throbbing too."
Andrei hummed quietly, his brow lifting as he folded his arms thoughtfully. "Hmm... are you hungry?"
Adeline shook her head again, this time more firmly. "No... it’s not that."
And then, without pause or without change in tone—as if mentioning the weather—Andrei casually said, "Ah. You must be pregnant, then."
Adeline’s eyes snapped open wide, shock flashing through her features as she jerked her head up to stare at him. "What the hell, Andrei?!" she blurted, half choking on her own disbelief. "That’s... that’s not possible!"
Andrei gave a little shrug before rising to his feet. "You’re a vampire now, Miss Adeline. Male vampires don’t experience anything like this. I’ve only ever read about such symptoms showing up in female vampires, and only if they’re pregnant."
He gestured lazily at her, his tone bordering on bored. "If that’s not it, then tell me—what exactly do you think is the reason?"
Adeline’s mouth opened, then closed. Her gaze dropped to her lap, her fingers wringing together as she fumbled for a response. "W-well..." she stammered, her cheeks flushing, "Enzo said... He said it might be because I still have some human side left in me."
Andrei lifted a finger, as if preparing to lecture her, his mouth already parting—but then he paused mid-breath, his brows drawing together as he considered her words. "Hmm. That’s... possible. I suppose that could explain it. You might just be sick. What I read only mentioned pureblood vampires, not turned ones."
