His eyes, dark and as bottomless as an ancient well, sent a jolt through the surrounding Beastmen.
When the middle-aged Beastman saw him regain consciousness, he quickly squatted down and asked with concern, "Yuan Lang, how are you feeling?"
Yuan Lang’s deep, dark eyes narrowed. He exhaled softly, suppressing the intense pain wracking his body. "I’m... alright."
His voice was low and heavy, as if he were holding something back.
The middle-aged Beastman sighed. He took a dried herb from the pouch at his waist. After a moment of hesitation, he finally held it out. "Yuan Lang, eat this."
Yuan Lang was one of the strongest Beastmen of the tribe’s younger generation, as well as the leader of this salt-trading expedition.
In the battle against Fierce Beasts to protect the salt, he had sustained the most severe injuries.
Yuan Lang took the herb. His well-defined fingers, stained with blood and grime, gently broke off the tip and placed it in his mouth before he handed the rest back.
"Share it with the others."
He looked up, his gaze sweeping over his surroundings. After a long moment, the look in his eyes shifting, his thin lips parted. "Where is this?"
The middle-aged Beastman and the other tribesmen from the Snow Tiger Tribe stared, stunned, at the Beastman on the ground. "Yuan Lang, what’s wrong with you? This is the Polar Forest. We’re almost back to the tribe."

A Beastman’s eyesight was exceptional; seeing in the dark was a simple matter. As he clearly saw his surroundings and the men around him, clad only in Beast Skin loincloths, the confusion in Yuan Lang’s heart intensified.

He remembered covering the retreat with his two Deputy Generals. Overwhelmed and outnumbered, he had ultimately jumped into Dead Man’s Ravine.

The other Beastmen had a moment of realization, and one of them even joked, "So, did you see the Beast God?"
The words had barely left his mouth when he was thrashed by the surrounding tribesmen, forcing him to duck and weave away, yelping, "Ow! Ow!"
Seeing that he was truly all right, the middle-aged Beastman let out a huge breath of relief and sat down on the grass. "You kid, you scared your uncle half to death. If something had happened to you, how could I ever face your Father and Amu?"
