Survive As The Brute's Wife-Chapter 79: Standing As the One Above All
"Welcome back, sister..."
The dragon continued and Alexandra was stunned for a moment. There is no way she could be the sister of a dragon. As far as she know she cannot shift her shape to that of a dragon.
She cannot be a dragon.
Ignoring the dragon’s greeting as just a nominal way of expressing familiarity, Alexandra walked towards the water with no hesitation. She didn’t remember how she got there but the inviting island is where she already had decided to go to.
She looked at the waves kissing her feet and with no doubt she placed her feet over the water.
"I don’t fancy getting my feet wet!" she shouted at the dragon and the dragon chuckled.
"As always, Arimelda..."
[Arimelda..? Where have I heard that name before?]
That particular name was familiar and before Alexandra could think about it further, she saw the clear water from around the island that had no ripples reached out to her like flowy ribbons and swirled around her.
Alexandra could feel her feet getting lighter as the flowy waters encircled her. little bubbles rose up as the water circled around her and her lips curved to a smile as she saw the bubbles turning to beautiful crystalline blue butterflies.
Like little carvings of sapphire, the little butterflies circled around her making a sweet rhythmic jingling noise. As her heart lifted up with the gentle music, she found herself lifting up too and she floated towards the island.
"Lexa!"
"Alexandra!"
She ignored the shouts of both of the men. She felt uplifted and she didn’t want to be brought down by getting involved in the feuds of the two men.
"Lexa!!!"
She heard an abysmal shout that reached the deepest part of her heart and she turned to have a look. She saw Maximus running towards the water and Arioch was running behind him with the sharp blade of the dagger focused on Maximus’ back, right above his heart.
She snapped.
[Why are those two fighting?]
"Arioch! It is not honorable to attack someone behind their back!"
Her voice, like a thunder, rolled over them. She stretched her hand and the water flowing around her took the form of a human hand and reached Arioch’s dagger. As Alexandra made a yanking motion, the glittering water yanked the dagger off Arioch’s hand.
As he stood there frozen, Maximus turned at Arioch with a smirk and said something inaudible to her. It provoked Arioch further and he raised a fist to punch Maximus in the face.
Maximus shook his head as if he was unbothered by Arioch and took a step inside the water. He still murmured something.
"Behave!"
Alexandra held out her hand with her palms facing Maximus. The next moment a wall of water grew in front of Maximus stopping him from reaching closer to Alexandra.
"Lexa! Let me in!" he shouted, oddly his voice held a mirth rather than disappointment.
He was indeed not disappointed. She is standing tall as she should, having authority over the waters as she must, and showing a part of her true powers. So there is nothing to be disappointed and everything there is to be celebrated according to him. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He admired the one standing above them all, glowing like the moon and with the crystalline butterflies fluttering around her, she is looking like a water fairy. He wanted to admire her like this all his life. His feelings bubbled in his heart and he felt a chattering feeling in his throat. Just like the lid of the stew pot would chatter as the stew boils, he wanted to find words to admire her but in his inability to do so, his heart danced in his throat.
Alexandra didn’t answer him. With just a swoosh of her hands, all the weapons those two men were holding started to get warmed up. Not being able to bear the heat, the men started to throw them in the water.
With a hiss, the weapons sank inside the water and Alexandra raised her hands. The weapons, dripping with water, raised above the water and with a snap of her finger, a bird cage formed out of water, held the weapons as captive.
"Talk," she said, no, ordered those men and she saw a little smirk on Arioch’s face.
Her eyes squinted and she could see a little blade hidden in the right thigh of Arioch. She didn’t understand how she saw it and saw it wouldn’t be how it would be explained properly; she heard it would be the more apt way to say it.
She could hear the blade hidden by Arioch. And Maximus was having a sharp hook in his shoes.
She wasn’t awed by what she did for she felt familiar. She understood that Arioch is thinking that she has gotten one over Maximus and Maximus is thinking the same.
She didn’t like it and with a snap of her fingers, the hook tore Maximus’ shoes and came out; so did the blade. As the men stared at her in awe, the hook and the blade started to glow red and in the next moment, they got melted and dripped into the water as drops of molten metal.
Saying nothing more, Alexandra turned and walked towards the island. She felt the deep rejuvenating sensations that pulsates inside her as the waters jumped around her in the form of little butterflies; she felt uplifted.
She is familiar of this feeling but she has only felt a fraction of the rejuvenation she is feeling now with Max. This is similar to the commingling process she does with Maximus but with the efficiency multiplied several times.
She looked at herself glowing and the little bit of scars left in her body started to disappear as if they didn’t like staying on her. By the time she reached the island, her skin was glowing, and spotless as a baby’s skin.
It made her feel better. It might be vain to put much thoughts on one’s appearance, but who doesn’t love to look spotless and glowing?
She did!
"So he met you," the voice of the dragon seemed to hold a lot of emotions.
Alexandra didn’t stop to ask what the dragon meant as her eyes ended up at the tree. She saw the sword lodged in its interlocked roots that were protruding over the ground and oddly, they roots gave the appearance of a human ribcage.
She walked closer to the tree and it was then she felt the immeasurable pain in her heart again.
[This is the spot where Tubby died!]
She pulled out the sword that was nestling in the interlocked roots and kneeled near the tree.
"Tubby..."
She said and the next moment, tears, as big as pearls rolled on her cheek. She wrapped her arms around the trunk of the tree and started to sob.
She remembered that day when she helplessly watched Tubby dying in front of her. She was there and yet she couldn’t do a thing and it affected her deeply.
The dragon sitting on top of the tree let out a sigh. With a flash of light, she turned to a humanoid form. In the ball of light, only the core that had the silhouette of a human female was dark and gradually the darkness merged with the light as the lights turned to clothes and wrapped around the humanoid form.
With hair white as the snow with hints of blue in them, and eyes glowing blue, the dragon walked with her beauty wrapped in clothes glowing like the moonbeam. The crystal headband that ornate her forehead glittered like silver dust and her hips swayed as she landed her flowery feet on the ground.
"You identified him..." she hugged Alexandra from the back. "So you remember him?"
Alexandra turned to look at the figure standing behind her and her eyes seemed to be holding starlight in them.
"Cathlyn?" Alexandra knitted her brows.
She thought she knew this woman but she didn’t know from where. But she needed comfort. She hugged her around her shoulders and started to sob. She knew if she doesn’t lean on the woman in front of her, she might end up in that pond of nothingness for it gives her peace.
[Identify...]
She closed her eyes and went back to that memory. The memory that is painful for her to rehash but the memory she needed.
Watching Tubby kill himself beside her dead body, she couldn’t bear it and her pain made calamities happen around the world. She was not in her physical body but her soul was active and the power she held caused Tubby’s body that was shielding her body from the rain turn into stone.
But she didn’t like to see the petrified form of the man who protected her all the time. And so she decided to...
Alexandra remembered the story Flavia told her; the story of the maiden of the Dagwood tree. The dagwood tree that loved the maiden....
She replayed that particular incident.
The petrified stone of Tubby’s body starting to bloom and through the stone sprouting of branches started to appear and in time, the stone turned to a tree that blooms white flowers all the time.
And so, Tubby didn’t have a grave but was turned to a tree.
