Chapter 365: The General And Her Demon

Hearing the question, a large grin spread across Devil’s face.

Although he might be bloodthirsty, immorally bankrupt, impolite, and impatient, he wasn’t a complete moron.

"Of course not." He declared, saying only the truth.

Given Michael’s personality, he was bound to get suspicious if Devil were to offer him a drink out of nowhere.

The plan was to make Michael get used to the idea of Devil giving him beverages until eventually he dropped his guard, which was when Devil was to slip an aphrodisiac.

"I see." Michael’s eyes narrowed.

"Then did you intend to do so in the future? If yes, I explicitly forbid you to sneak anything into my food or drink without my prior knowledge. The same goes for anyone part of our faction."

Devil’s eyebrow twitched.

"Ungrateful brat!" He howled. "I just opened your eyes about your own stupidity, and this is how you repay me? I am not a human but a fragment of your soul! Either indulge in some kind of profanities or start slaughtering. The Wang family, of which Samuel was a part, was just a drop in the bucket! I need blood!"

Michael heaved a sigh. While Devil appeared reckless, the fact remained... He was bound to his soul. That was the nature of soul weapons. They often grew more in tune with their owner over time.

Devil was the representation of Michael’s subconscious mind that wasn’t bound by any kind of constraints or sense of duty. Essentially, Devil was his intrusive thoughts voiced out to the world to hear.

Under normal circumstances, such a thing wouldn’t be a problem since soul weapons were meant to communicate solely with their owners. Yet Devil’s physical form broke that balance.

Every human has inner thoughts that are never meant to be uttered out aloud.

Truthfully, Devil had done a great job up until now, keeping himself together and not blurring out the wrong things.

"I know that since deaths in the tournament aren’t real, your hunger for blood isn’t being truly satiated but suppressed." Michael exclaimed. "I promise that once this is all over we will go to some alien colony and let you—"

Before he could finish, the door to his room creaked open.

Piercing blue eyes burning with the intensity of a dragon’s gaze. Her silky blonde hair shimmered, still damp from the recent shower, and her figure was so striking that her allure showed even beneath her armored attire.

Victoria instantly fixed her gaze on Michael.

"Can I talk to you for a—"

She halted, realizing that she might have interrupted something. With the idea of facing the Golden Vanguard and her old comrades, Victoria stood on edge. Her mind was clouded and eager to discuss the upcoming strategy they were going to use.

"Is there a problem?" She raised an eyebrow.

Devil nodded.

"You see that guy?" He said, pointing at Michael. "Screw him!"

"What did he do to earn such a vile insult?" Victoria asked, frowning. Raised to be a leader, and with a hellish battle upcoming on the horizon, the last thing she wanted to do was waste time trying to read between Devil’s lines.

Shaking his head, Devil stormed out of the room. "I’m surrounded by idiots!"

"Where do you think you’re going?" Michael asked. The existence of his soul weapon’s true form hadn’t been revealed to most of the faction yet.

"Gambling with Richard!" Devil declared. "At least someone here knows how to have fun!"

After he left them alone, Victoria spoke.

"He seems on edge lately."

Michael sighed, rubbing his temple. "I don’t blame him. Until now he has been forced to stay hidden."

"In that case..." Victoria’s eyes gleamed. "How about openly deploying him in the upcoming clash? Like it or not, unless we go all out, we have no chance of beating the Golden Vanguard, even if they aren’t bothering to attend at full power."

The tournament had originally been held for the Emperor to identify the one responsible for Malice’s death... The man who had been sent to kidnap Victoria.

However, with most of the rounds concluded and so much time having passed, Michael could easily claim that he had acquired Devil after ascending to the Lord realm, effectively clearing himself of any suspicion.

"No more hiding." Michael agreed, rising to his feet. Taking their new recruits into account, there was a real chance to beat the Golden Vanguard.

Though before he could give any order, Victoria interrupted.

"Actually, the reason I came here was to request you to give me full command over the faction." She clenched her fists. "It might seem selfish, but this is my one and only chance to face the Golden Vanguard."

Michael studied her for a few seconds.

"Sure, you have proven—"

Abruptly, Victoria neared, her bosom pressing against his chest, her tender lips pressing against his in a deep kiss.

"Thank you..." She murmured, her face slightly flushed as she pulled away, her gaze meeting his with determination. "For believing in me."

What seemed like a blink, the remaining hours for preparation passed.

Finally, the Indomitable Alliance found themselves facing the Golden Vanguard.

With a little over a thousand members, the Indomitable Alliance had come a long way. Even more evident, although most of its members were still rather new, they carried hardened expressions by the merciless training they had undergone the prior week.

Interestingly, the Golden Vanguard fielded a similar number of soldiers. It’s unclear whether this was because their forces were spread out across the solar system or if it was a direct challenge to the Indomitable Alliance. What was certain, however, was that they were confidently asserting they could win without relying on sheer numbers.

Their confidence wasn’t without good reason.

At the forefront stood the Absolute Lords, Eliza and Elina, the sisters with strikingly different demeanors. Eliza exuded a cold presence, while Elina offered a playful smile, waving at Michael and Victoria.

Slightly behind them stood Absolute Lord Freya, one of Victoria’s relatives.

She was dressed in a dark dress that seemed even more provocative than the last. Given the live broadcast, she was eager to display the full extent of her seductive allure to the wild world. She was otherworldly beauty, and she knew it.

Next to Freya stood two older gentlemen, also radiating the presence of Absolute Lords. Frowns were etched on their faces as they used every ounce of willpower to avoid ogling Freya’s almost exposed body. Their struggle only seemed to bolster Freya’s increasingly improved mood.

Meanwhile, at the Indomitable Alliance’s side, Michael and Victoria took their place at the forefront, representing the core of the strategic planning. Standing beside them were their strongest allies, the Transcendent Lords Robert, Cayson, Astra, and Sirius. Radiant Lords Zagar and Katherine weren’t too far behind.

"Victoria." Eliza stared her in the eyes. "Know that King Arthur... your grandfather is watching. He has high expectations."

"He better be." Victoria proclaimed a smirk spreading across her face. "It’s high time he sees I can soar high without relying on my origins."

Ignoring the exchange, Freya bent down gracefully. The fabric of her dress shifted, revealing the curve of her hips and her slender legs. Giving Michael an enticing glimpse of her cleavage, she sent him a flirtatious kiss with a wink.

Suffering rejection for the first time ignited a fire deep within Freya, one she hadn’t expected.

Every man was the same! No matter the cost, Freya was determined to make Michael hers. If her cousin were to suffer in the process, it would only make the victory of claiming her precious man all the sweeter.

Unwilling to waste more time, the Emperor transported both factions to the designated battlefield.

At last, the Indomitable Alliance was to face the Golden Vanguard.
