Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity's Rise To Galactic Supremacy-Chapter 319: Overwhelming Force
Even though the Unbroken Chain was considered one of the small-sized factions, they still couldn’t be underestimated. If well coordinated, the five Lords were capable of delivering devastating harm.
The Indomitable Alliance had already demonstrated their might, so the Unbroken Chain had been preparing strategies on how to counter them.
Yet all of these plans were rendered useless. Michael’s faction had doubled its members seemingly overnight, with three Lords to boot.
Initially the plan had been to focus their firepower on Michael, overwhelming him and crushing the morale of the other troops.
Now it was impossible.
"They are coming! Prepare!" Zagar’s voice rang out, bringing his faction out of their daze.
Composing themselves, the soldiers mounted the walls of the castle. They were being attacked, so the integrity of the structure was supposed to put them at an advantage. Nevertheless, they couldn’t help but shiver at the sight of the closing monstrous storm.
It felt like they were about to clash with alien invaders rather than with humans.
Swoosh!
Faster than the eye could react, Michael pressed the charge further. Mounting Devil in his sword form, he used Psychokinesis to soar the skies, positioning himself right above the Unbroken Chain’s castle.
For the first time he wasn’t alone.
On his left side was Ava, her eyes sparkling with anticipation, ready to prove herself to the world after ascending to the Grandmaster realm. On his right side, Ruby swung her tail excitedly. Last time she had taken the role of a leader, so she hadn’t been able to display her full capabilities.
He had taken them because they were so light. Ava’s petite frame and Ruby’s altered bone density made them feel almost weightless, placing little strain on his energy reserves.
"Thank you!" Ruby exclaimed. Before jumping down, she brushed her tongue across Michael’s cheek, liking it gently. It had been a bit selfish to ask him to bring her to the enemy’s heart, and this was her way of showing her gratitude.
Capitalizing on Ruby’s sincerity, Ava followed her lead, her face drawing closer to Michael’s.
Smooch!
Blushing red from head to toe, she kissed him on the side of the cheek. Before she was forced to explain herself, she muttered a meek word of thanks before jumping down the fray.
Ignoring Devil’s suggestive remarks, Michael heaved a sigh before jumping into action as well.
The strategy the Indomitable Alliance had forged was straightforward. While the majority of their forces clashed with the Unbroken Chain’s troops to keep them at bay, Michael would infiltrate their base, locate the soldier they had chosen as a leader, and eliminate them. Ava’s and Ruby’s presence had been a last-minute addition, but one that was welcome nonetheless.
After all, this was still a faction battle. Rather than expending all their energy to slay every member of the Unbroken Chain, it would be far more beneficial to eliminate their leader and be done with it.
Explosions erupted across the desert, but Michael paid them no heed.
Infiltrating the castle had proven easy enough. With the five Lords of the Unbroken Chain held up outside, it meant there was virtually no one left capable of standing against him.
By now, lifeless bodies littered the shattered hallways. Ava wasn’t playing around. The large cracks in the building formed as she swung her hammer, marking her path with every strike.
As for Ruby, she was eliminating enemies with finesse. Despite being only a Late Master, her flexibility and mastery of stealth allowed her to outmaneuver most soldiers. By the time they realized what was happening, their necks had already been slit open.
A faint smile spread across Michael’s face.
"I feel like we’d win even if I don’t lift a finger. Is this what they call reaping the fruits of your labor?"
The feeling was extraordinary. Was this perhaps what proud parents experienced when they saw their child becoming independent?
For a fraction of a second, his gaze darkened as memories of an unpleasant past resurfaced. Shaking his head, he forced them to subside, refocusing on the present.
Inevitably, as Michael picked off those who had managed to dodge Ava’s and Ruby’s rampage, he found Ava struggling against what appeared to be a Middle Grandmaster. She had found her match and needed assistance...
Or so he thought until Ava stopped him.
"I will be fine!" She proclaimed, dashing off, not waiting for a response.
Facing an enemy one stage beyond her, Ava was clearly at a disadvantage, forced to retreat a few steps after every exchange.
Just when it looked like she was about to lose, her agility doubled. Using her short stature to her advantage, she gracefully dodged her enemy’s blade by going low. Then, not letting her foe recover, she swung her hammer with such force that it reduced him to gore.
"See? Fine!" Ava waved toward Michael with a beaming smile before continuing her rampage.
Eventually, the three reached the castle’s main chamber. Most of the structure had been wiped out by now. If the warrior the Unbroken Chain had chosen as their leader wasn’t here, the only option left was to search the desert.
Fortunately, the hide-and-seek game had ended. On the opposite end of the room, a meek man, barely above adult age, cowered behind the back of a Lord who had arrived for reinforcement.
"How did they wipe us out so fast?" Lord Zagar gritted his teeth in frustration.
This was supposed to be a fair clash. Yet Michael’s faction had moved with such precision, it felt more like a bounty hunt than a faction war. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"No matter! It was a mistake to come here with just the three of you!" Zagar bellowed.
The Lord was a realist. He knew there was no way his faction could win. If that was the case, he at least wanted to defeat the most famous member of the Indomitable Alliance in front of the whole world, to salvage what little remained of his pride.
"A Grandmaster facing a Lord could end only one way!" Zagar proclaimed, unleashing his aura to its full extent.
Yet, to his surprise and the shock of the live broadcast, not only Michael but even Ava and Ruby seemed unfazed by the overwhelming pressure.
"Preposterous! What kind of monsters are you all?!" The Lord began to grow alarmed but refused to back down.
"They are my comrades." Michael said calmly. The ground beneath his feet cracked as he pounced toward the Lord without hesitation.
This was the first time Michael faced a Lord one-on-one in a fair battle. Emerging victorious here would silence any lingering doubts about his ability to face a Lord single-handedly.
