Supreme Paragon Reborn: Humanity's Rise To Galactic Supremacy-Chapter 300: Devil At The Breakfast Table
Considering that Michael had summoned a threatening-looking, slightly mad, slightly perverted monster right in the dining hall in the middle of their breakfast, many things could have gone horribly wrong.
Honestly speaking, gobbling a chicken was perhaps one of the best outcomes.
Several seconds of silence stretched, leaving Devil’s words of introduction to hang in the air.
As the tension built up to unbearable levels, Ruby was the one who finally broke the silence.
"YOU!"
She bellowed, rising upon the table still filled with food, her tail puffing in a straight line.
"How dare you gobble the chicken without leaving anything for me!"
Clearly amused, Devil tilted his head to the side.
"What’s the matter, lost kitty? Feeling anxious? Maybe you should run to your owner and beg for a belly rub."
Ruby’s face pouted as she blushed red.
"You...You..."
She attempted to retaliate but nothing came to mind.
Meanwhile, Richard, the cook, didn’t feel anger at Ruby for stepping onto the table. Instead, a wide grin spread across his face as he watched the chaos unfold.
With the sole intent of irritating Ruby, Devil dragged his long tongue across his lips in a deliberately provoking manner.
"It was such a shame you didn’t get a bite... The taste was extraordinary."
HISS!
Ruby’s nails extended, ready to charge.
In response, the Devil showed his large claws.
"Go ahead, little kitty. Let’s find out whose claws are sharper."
Before the situation could escalate, Michael calmed down Devil while Ava dealt with Ruby.
With the fallout prevented, Victoria cleared her throat.
"So... Devil managed to neutralize Malice?" She asked with an arched brow. After all, she had no way of knowing that the soul weapon had been the perfect counter to the methods of the assassin.
"Indeed, a smart one you are!" Devil remarked. "You shall consider me as your savior from now on!"
Michael heaved a sigh, resting a hand on the monster’s shoulder.
"This is your first meeting. No need to taunt them so much."
Devil’s pupil contracted.
"You know what... You are right! This is a delight I’ll savor for a very long time!" Devil erupted into laughter.
Claire shook her head.
"So all this time, the voice of this creature has been echoing in your head? That explains so much." She said, casting an understanding glance at Michael.
"The hell is that supposed to mean?! You have no idea how lucky this brat got with me!"
A cruel smirk spread across Devil’s face as an idea came to mind.
"Oh, of course you didn’t! You were too busy ’heating up’ with Michael!"
Claire’s face went pale.
Instantly, Devil moved his two arms, wrapping them around himself and writhing from side to side in a mocking manner.
"Oh, Michael, please don’t hold back! I can take it! Go all out!"
Devil mimicked aloud what Claire had said when she’d been locked in the isolated chamber with Michael, where the two had embraced each other.
It was absolutely mortifying! She had mentioned spending time with Michael but never went into such explicit detail! And for goodness’ sake, her grandfather was right there at the table, listening to it all!
"S—Shut up!" Claire demanded.
"Fuck no!" Devil bellowed, continuing. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"Ah, harder! Faster! Don’t stop! Since we are expecting the worst, let’s do it a few more times just in case!"
As Claire’s face reached never-seen levels of redness, everyone in the crew shuddered at a grim realization.
Since Devil was a soul weapon housed inside Michael’s soul, that meant he had witnessed it all. Every private moment, every embarrassing slip-up, nothing had remained hidden!
They better not get on his bad side. Otherwise, who knew what kind of things he wouldn’t hesitate to share?
Devil quickly shut up at Michael’s threatening glare.
Tch!
With a click of his tongue, Devil picked up a chair and sat next to Richard, turning toward him... Though his pupil remained fixed on the girls, who by now were all blushing red.
"Women, am I right?"
Completely caught off guard by the offhand comment, Richard burst into uncontrollable laughter at the sheer absurdity of it all.
"HAHAHA!"
As his laughter echoed, Michael massaged the bridge of his nose tiredly. How had things escalated so quickly, he wondered.
With her face still rosy, Claire turned toward Bryce.
"Grandpa... f—forget everything you heard today!"
The old man chuckled, stroking his overgrown beard.
"It’s fine, Sunshine. I was just a bit surprised at how straightforward our new teammate is, that’s all."
While things hadn’t started perfectly, one thing remained undeniable. Devil, even though he willed a foul mouth, was a formidable ally. The fact that he had faced Malice also showed that he secretly cared for the crew.
As breakfast continued, an unexpected knock echoed across the entrance of their base.
"Did you invite your family?" Victoria asked.
Michael shook his head.
"No... I was thinking of escorting them myself. Who could it be?"
Still chuckling, Richard rose to his feet.
"I’ll get it."
When he opened the entrance, his gaze settled on a woman. Her silky blonde hair was styled into a braided bun, and she wore an elegant costume with a golden monocle positioned over her right eye.
As her lips parted, she spoke in a voice utmost formal:
"Exult, thou humble and unworthy servant, for by the august command of the all-knowing His Majesty himself, I am granted the unparalleled honor of conveying unto thee tidings. As per the most recent revelations, though I doubt their subtlety shall pierce the fog of thine understanding, these matters demand thy attention, however meager thy faculties may prove in their apprehension—"
"Stop." Richard raised his hand, instantly cutting her off.
"I have no idea what you just said, so I’m going to take it as an insult."
His eyes darkened slightly.
"Speak to me in human language. What do you want, and how did you even get near our base?"
The woman sneered.
"Naturally, I am unshaken by the realization that my eloquent manner of speech lies far beyond your meager grasp. Should I deign to reduce it to your understanding, I would phrase it thusly..."
She met his Grandmaster’s aura, remaining utterly unfazed.
"By the Emperor’s sovereign will, any faction that treads in the sacred lands of our golden tree must prove thyself against thy neighbors in an orderly fashion."
She paused briefly, noticing Richard raise an eyebrow before she elaborated.
"Essentially, whether you like it or not, you’ll be taking part in faction wars."
