Chapter 246: Recorded Legend

"They did?" Michael arched an eyebrow in skepticism. Given how unexpected the towering giant’s appearance had been and the devastation it left in its wake, no one would have blamed the reporter duo for taking cover and waiting until the danger passed.

"Oh yeah, they did!" Richard’s eyes sparkled with a menacing light. "That Luis guy? Apparently, before heading to Venus, he acquired drones capable of withstanding extreme temperatures. With them he recorded the entire battle you fought against it."

’Does this mean my rampage on the lava lake had also been recorded?’ Michael wondered.

However, before he could watch the video, Ruby stopped him with a pout.

"After they were done editing it, we agreed to watch it all together. Richard was the only one who couldn’t wait and ended up watching it early." She exclaimed.

"You bet I did!" Richard proclaimed proudly. "My favorite part was when Michael—"

HISS!

Before Richard could spoil the content, Ruby warned him that spoilers would not be tolerated.

At the end Michael agreed for everybody to gather. Fortunately the wait wasn’t long. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Victoria, Claire, Ava, Amelia, Enzo, and Leo arrived soon after. Naturally, Skylar and Luis joined them as well, eager to see everyone’s live reaction to their newly crafted video. As for Robert, he discreetly called Livia. It was, of course, because she was the Minister of Defence and needed to be informed about matters like this! It definitely had nothing to do with wanting to see her reaction to the video where he stood his ground against the robot!

"Is it just me, or did the room suddenly get crowded?" Leo mumbled.

"Don’t care. Press play, now!" Skylar said, nudging Luis. He groaned, worn down by two all-nighters spent editing the video, but in the end he obliged.

Just like Richard had said, Luis’s video began shortly after the appearance of the towering giant.

Even better, since the man had used several drones to capture the footage, he stitched the clips together, showcasing the numerous androids as well as the giant.

Rather than a report, it felt more like watching a high-budget movie.

"This part is one of my favorite ones!" Richard exclaimed. "Michael will—"

"Goddammit, shut up!" Enzo barked. "Don’t spoil the fun!"

First came the scene with Robert standing against the giant. Livia’s body visibly tensed, her arms instinctively wrapped around the Lord, who now stood beside her.

Robert grinned, though he remained silent.

Then came the charge towards the giant, Michael being hurled away only to land in the middle of the lava lake.

Luis’s drones lagged slightly, yet they managed to capture the entire encounter.

Understandably, the atmosphere had grown tense up to that point. But it reached its peak when chilling laughter echoed across the screen.

"HAHAHA!"

It was Michael.

"Did you think you can kill me?!"

Even Richard, who had supposedly watched the video already, paled once Michael began to trade blow for blow against the giant that loomed akin to a god.

It was as if Michael’s expression, seen up close, had turned the movie from an epic confrontation into a horror.

The video ended as the giant fell, chunks of it exploding outward and ultimately destroying the drone that had been recording the spectacle. Thankfully, the footage had been instantly backed up to the cloud, so nothing was lost.

"..."

By the end, everyone was left speechless. Not only had Michael accomplished something impossible to believe without a recording, but he had also defeated the robot that even Robert, a Lord, had failed to overcome.

Sure, the robot had been severely weakened by that point, but even so, the mere thought of a Grandmaster accomplishing what a Lord couldn’t was almost unbelievable.

"My ascension to the Middle Grandmaster pales in comparison to yours." Victoria murmured in dejection.

"You’re not the only one who feels this way." Claire clarified. "Everyone does."

Ruby felt alarmed. "Wait... what happened to my little brother?!"

Michael took out a chip, easing her worry. "Cyberfang is here. We just need to build him a sturdier body."

Blinking slowly, Livia shifted her sight to Michael before bowing.

"Thank you for ridding us of this wrath. Had it not been for you... The capital might have really fallen."

Michael wasn’t able to brush off the compliment as Robert bowed as well.

"I wish to officially thank you for saving my life."

Skylar watched the exchange with a wide grin.

"Better get used to this now!" She said, placing her hands on her hips.

"This is it! The breakout trending video that will top every chart on every social platform! Your name, and, by extension, your faction’s, will be spread so far and wide that there won’t be a single person who hasn’t heard of your feats!"

Truthfully, she wasn’t exaggerating. While many things had gone wrong in the battle, the way it was portrayed in the video was nothing short of genius.

Michael’s surge in popularity guaranteed that Skylar and Luis were about to become sensations as well.

"I already expressed my gratitude." Livia clapped her hands, gaining everybody’s attention.

"But a few days ago... a wise sage opened my eyes to the truth that a person’s worth isn’t measured by their words, but by their actions! So, after consulting with the Prime Minister, we have decided to hold a festival in honor of those who fell in battle."

This was by no means a decision made on a whim. With the protective shield around Magmorious repaired, it would be wise to boost the morale of the general population, lest a wave of mass despair take hold.

Naturally, festivals brought all kinds of entertainment. As Livia went on boasting about the event, Richard’s ears perked up at the mention of a certain word.

"Water park?! Pools?! Girls in revealing swimsuits?!" The man’s eyes narrowed as he glanced at Michael.

"Boss! This is it! Let’s go and find ourselves swimsuits!"

Michael chuckled, deciding to play along. Richard’s enthusiasm reminded him of Devil’s Tongue.

The two quickly bolted out of the room, and after exchanging a glance, Enzo and Leo followed them.

As Victoria watched them leave, her palm clenched tightly into a fist.

She hadn’t been able to confess her feelings to Michael as promised since the room had been too crowded for that kind of talk. Fortunately, it seemed that fate was on her side. The water park gave her the perfect opportunity!

’This is my chance! And if I pick the right swimsuit... one that could make even his heart flutter... then maybe things will actually work out!’

Her blue eyes began to gleam in determination.

As for Ruby, she found the conversation intriguing.

"Swimsuits?" She tilted her head to the side. "Can’t we just go naked?"
