Supreme Harem God System-Chapter 2283: This was the first time I saw a Light Born flinChapter It was… pleasing to the eye.
"Why are you lot here in my world?"
Orravyn questioned with a light smile on his face, and the instant the Light Borns saw him—
Their eyes widened in sheer horror.
"L-L-Lord Orravyn."
The Light Born who had been talking to Lord Light before coming here called out loud, stuttering without stop.
The golden light he and the other Light Borns had released—the light that announced their arrival—had already disappeared like it never existed.
For Aurel, it was quite a satisfying sight, seeing these beings frozen stiff in such a manner.
How could he not?
Ever since he first met the Light Borns, no matter who it was—be it the one who made him join the Light Faction, or others who came to collect the yearly offerings—they were all the same.
Arrogant to their cores.
Even those who weren’t Eternals and were clearly weaker than him were no exception either; they held the same arrogance. After all, they knew no one in the entire Universe would have the gall to ever do something to them, even if they were weaker.
The strong preyed on the weak—this rule did not apply to them, simply because they came from a force far stronger than most.
As for the Light Borns who were actually strong, they took it a step further. To these Light Borns, others did not matter. Let alone a High Level World that was recently opened to the Universe, had only one Eternal—who was weaker compared to most—a world with no rare resources or connections; even a different High Level World, a world that was deeply respected and known throughout the Universe—
These Light Borns didn’t put those in their eyes either.
They just came, spread their Light arrogantly, as if everyone else should be glad they got to witness it anyway, and left.
But today—
Today was different.
Today, that arrogance was nowhere to be found.
Today, that arrogance was replaced by... fear.
Heck, Aurel wouldn’t be surprised if these Light Borns all kowtowed right here and now. Actually, he was hoping for that to happen but—
Suddenly, he sensed a strange energy surrounding the Light Borns. It all happened so fast that by the time he could come to his senses and understand what was happening—
The Light Borns disappeared.
—or at least they tried to, but...
It did not happen.
Because the moment that strange energy began to surround them, it was locked. The Light Borns froze; all their eyes remained on the man responsible for this.
It was the Infinity of Eternity.
"You come to my world with no prior arrangements, spread your Light, wake my people, disturb their rest, and then try to leave?"
Orravyn spoke in a low, soft voice. The impact of his words, however, was huge. The Light Borns flinched, some even gulped.
And Orravyn—
"Are you looking down on me?"
He asked directly, his tone becoming somewhat frosty.
"N-No, Lord Orravyn."
The leader of the Light Borns answered quickly, desperately shaking his head.
"W-We were just looking for Lady Seraphielle. Lord Light sensed her here, so he sent us. But since we realized that she wasn’t here, we decided not to bother you more than we already had."
He answered as respectfully as he could, even bowing his head in front of one of the four strongest beings in the Universe.
Of course, in their minds, the question regarding how the world that was part of the Light Faction became his world did appear, but none of them dared to say it out loud.
The Light Borns were already falling like flies these days; they had no intention of joining them.
The worst part?
Their connection with Lord Light had been abruptly broken, so they couldn’t even talk to him anymore and understand what was happening.
So the only thing they could do was apologize for anything they had done, no matter if it was right or not.
Orravyn looked at the Light Borns and—
"So you go around walking in another’s territory and then ’decide’ on your own when it is right to leave without asking the territory owner?
It seems that the children of Light have lost all respect."
He commented.
And the Light Borns became even stiffer. In their heads, they constantly tried to connect to Lord Light, to report the situation, to explain to him what they were dealing with, but the connection was already broken.
And it was clear the Infinity of Eternity was behind it.
It wouldn’t be restored until he wanted it to.
"W-We deeply apologize for our actions, Lord Orravyn. We can see how it came off as rude and arrogant, but I assure you, we did not have that intent. We hold nothing but deep respect for you and your territories.
We would have never done what we did today in our right minds. It is just that, these past few years have been hard on Light. The enemy has been targeting our worlds, and the loss of valuable life has made Lady Seraphielle delicate.
Then when she disappeared, we let our worry for her cloud our reasoning.
Again, we apologize and hope Lord Orravyn would find it in his heart to forgive us."
The Light Born Leader bowed his head, and this time, Orravyn didn’t say anything.
What could he?
He could only roll his eyes at the amount of charlatanism Light and its people could pull off; it was in their blood. Eras of fooling the entire Universe, keeping up that false image, had made their skin far tougher than normal.
It was honestly infuriating to see such beings lying right through their teeth.
Orravyn actually wanted to kill them, now more than ever, but that would give Seraphielle the ’reason’ to do something... distasteful later.
A chance he did not wish to give her, not when she was cornered the way she was.
He would rather watch everything play out on its own, see the pieces move, without having to do anything himself.
Therefore—
"I will excuse you today."
He spoke. The Light Borns sighed in relief, but before they could express their gratitude, Orravyn smiled.
"Considering the Light Faction has been having a hard time dealing with the Anomaly."
The Light Born Leader wanted to say something, he wanted to tell him that they weren’t having a ’hard time’, that a mere Anomaly couldn’t give them a ’hard time’, but—
"Your people are tired, your worlds have been falling, and you seem to have no way to protect them. The faith the Universe used to have in Light is falling too; your reputation has been dragged through the mud.
You are being labelled as a weak target."
The Infinity of Eternity continued to speak, and the more he did, the more the Light Borns lowered their heads and gritted their teeth, clearly holding back their... anger.
If it was anyone else—anyone else but an Infinity—saying those words, they would have already torn him apart.
After all, this wasn’t concern.
They could tell that as well—
Orravyn was clearly mocking them.
But there was nothing they could do. They could only swallow their pride and keep their heads low.
Orravyn smiled at that reaction, nodding to himself in satisfaction.
Then—
"All of that must be difficult to swallow, especially for someone like Seraphielle, who cares about her image to such an extent.
I can see why it would worry you.
But that does not mean you get to forget your place.
I have a forgiving nature, so I am letting you go, but if it were anyone else—
You lot wouldn’t have been able to see the formation of the next star, and the only ones you could blame for that would be yourselves."
Orravyn spoke, humiliating the Light Borns, and the Light Borns—
"Y-Yes, Lord Orravyn, we understand."
They could only nod.
"Good."
Orravyn nodded as well, satisfied.
"You can leave now."
He ordered, and the moment he waved his hand, the Light Borns’ connection with Lord Light reformed, and the Light Borns—
Before they could even say anything to Lord Light or report the situation—
They disappeared.
Summoned by Lord Light.
Aurel stared at the entire encounter with a big grin on his face—a grin that he hid completely—but—
"You seem happy."
It wasn’t something he could hide from the most knowledgeable being in the Universe.
"I-I apologize, Lord Orravyn."
Aurel lowered his head.
"Why would you apologize? I do not stop you from being pleased."
Orravyn asked, and Aurel...
He smiled directly, without hiding anything.
"This was the first time I saw a Light Born flinch. It was... pleasing to the eye."
He answered.
"Is that so..."
Orravyn just smiled, not commenting on anything.
His mind, however, began pondering some other things. If a being who was loyal to Light just a few hours ago acts like this when Light is being insulted...
Then the result of Anomaly’s actions was quite apparent.
This battle between Light and the Anomaly...
It was clear that Light had taken more damage than they realized.
Things... were not looking good for them—
Especially considering what they were about to do after this. It would only push them towards their ruination.
