Supreme Dragon Lord-Chapter 70 - Such a Wise Ruler
"Senior Brother?" Long Chen frowned slightly. It seemed only First-class Disciples could be Boatmen. Otherwise, why would Second-class Disciples from the Second House bother calling someone "Senior Brother"?
Long Chen glanced at Qiu Ming’s boat. It could probably carry twenty more people, and a Second-class Disciple could earn one hundred thousand Human Martial Beads per trip. Twenty people would amount to two million Human Martial Beads. While two million was not a small sum, ahead were the First-class Disciples of the First Division, each paying one million Human Martial Beads per trip. Twenty people would amount to a whopping twenty million Human Martial Beads!
Qiu Ming must know who pays more, yet he still starts picking up passengers from the Bing Institute’s area. There must be rules governing this.
Whatever. The boat isn’t even mine, and I’m not a Boatman. Since I’m already breaking the rules, I might as well just ferry First-class Disciples.
After a moment’s thought, Long Chen didn’t stop the boat. He waved his hand and said, "I’m busy today. No passengers."
Hearing this, the hundred or so Second-class Disciples were stunned, but they still bowed respectfully as they saw him off.
Seeing the surprised expressions on the Second-class Disciples’ faces, Long Chen understood. So there really are rules for being a Boatman.
A moment later, Long Chen steered the boat to the boarding area for First-class Disciples, the First Division.
Many disciples, over a thousand in total, were waiting on the shore to board—ten times the number at the Second House. It was apparent that the higher a disciple’s level, the stronger they were, and naturally, the wealthier.
"This Junior Brother looks unfamiliar. Have any of you seen him before?"
"Never. He must be some unknown, mediocre disciple who just became a Boatman."
"No, we haven’t seen him either."
Hearing the words of the First-class Disciples on the shore, Long Chen breathed a secret sigh of relief that no one recognized Qiu Ming’s boat.
"young master, these First-class Disciples are as sly as they come," Xia Duoduo’s voice entered his mind. "They dare to call a stranger ’Junior Brother’ because they’ve already memorized every disciple stronger than them." Her words brought a smile to the corners of Long Chen’s eyes.
It must be because of the Sect’s rules. Who would want to provoke a powerful disciple? It’s all too easy to end up in a life-and-death duel and lose your life.
Long Chen chuckled to himself, bringing the boat to a gentle stop by the shore. "Room for twenty more," he announced. "One million Human Martial Beads per person."
"This Junior Brother, you must be new to this job, daring to charge a fee from your seniors?"
"Hahahahaha! This little Junior Brother is truly amusing!"
Instantly, all the First-class Disciples burst into laughter.
Long Chen finally understood. No wonder Qiu Ming started with the lower-ranking disciples—it was hard to make any money off the First-class Disciples!
"Look at the sword in his hand! Isn’t that Second Senior Sister’s Green Flame Sword?" a female disciple suddenly exclaimed. The First-class Disciples’ laughter died abruptly. They all stared in shock at the Green Blade Sword in Long Chen’s hand.
"Could he be one of Second Senior Sister’s people?" The First-class Disciples gulped.
Immediately, twenty First-class Disciples boarded the boat, all of them offering Long Chen a clasped-fist salute.
"We were rude just now. Please forgive us, Senior Brother!"
Long Chen couldn’t help but smile. He hadn’t expected to benefit from Tuoba Jiao’s reputation.
"Please accept this, Senior Brother."
"And here is mine!"
Quickly, all twenty First-class Disciples handed over their Human Martial Beads, totaling twenty million! With this, Long Chen now had exactly two hundred million Human Martial Beads.
"Everyone, sit tight," Long Chen said, putting away the Storage Bag and propelling the boat forward with his Battle qi.
Even though the aura of Long Chen’s Battle qi was only at the War Master Realm, no one doubted his true Realm. After all, only First-class Disciples could be Boatmen, not to mention that Long Chen was holding Tuoba Jiao’s personal sword.
"Senior Brother, my name is Liu Bian. May I ask for your name?" one of the disciples asked respectfully.
The other disciples also wore fawning expressions, their intent to curry favor blatantly obvious.
"Long Chen," he replied truthfully, seeing no need to hide it.
"Long Chen?" The twenty disciples exchanged glances; the name was unfamiliar.
"So it is Senior Brother Long! We have long heard of your great name. Seeing you today, you are truly extraordinary!" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Indeed! For Second Senior Sister to trust Senior Brother Long so much as to lend you her personal sword... we are truly envious!"
Hearing their words, Long Chen smiled wryly. They talk as if they’ve actually heard my name before.
"I have no relationship with Tuoba Jiao," Long Chen said plainly. "If we must define our relationship, it would be that of adversaries."
Long Chen was telling the truth. This way, he could avoid future accusations from Tuoba Jiao of using her name to swindle people in the Human Institute.
"Senior Brother Long is too modest! We admire you for it!"
The twenty disciples didn’t believe him in the slightest. This was what I expected. Telling the truth won’t cause any problems now, but it will prevent them later.
"Everyone, step back and sit down! Do not disturb Senior Brother Long any further!" Suddenly, the tallest disciple, Liu Bian, the one with a scar on his face, shot a harsh glare at the others.
His one sentence was enough to make the other disciples back down. Swallowing their dissatisfaction, they all sat down obediently.
Long Chen couldn’t help but give Liu Bian a second glance. It seems his status in the First Division is quite high, and he must be powerful.
"Senior Brother Long, I, Liu Bian, wish to follow you through fire and water! I beseech you to accept me!" Liu Bian knelt on one knee.
The other disciples looked on with envy. The chance to follow someone trusted by Second Senior Sister Tuoba Jiao was an incredibly rare opportunity! Although they were annoyed with Liu Bian, none of them dared to show it.
"Follow me?" Long Chen felt a wave of helplessness. This Liu Bian certainly knows how to seize an opportunity.
Liu Bian remained on one knee. "Indeed! Although I’m currently only in the top thirty of the Martial Roll, I’m confident I can break into the top twenty in a short time! I will surely become a powerful aide to you, Senior Brother Long! I implore you to accept!"
"The Martial Roll?"
Long Chen’s eyes flashed with surprise as he asked, "What is the Martial Roll?"
"Uh..." Liu Bian and the other disciples were stunned. Someone connected to the Second Senior Sister doesn’t know about the Martial Roll? It seems he just joined the Sect and immediately became a First-class Disciple! What’s more, he’s a broad-minded person who doesn’t care what others think and is even willing to work as a Boatman!
Liu Bian grew even more excited. If I can follow such an enlightened master, it will be hard not to make a name for myself in the future!
