Supreme Dragon Lord-Chapter 117: Arrival at Qingyin Temple!
Long Chen entered the stone chamber, where a rich medicinal fragrance wafted over. Looking around, he was slightly taken aback. The room was filled with displays of numerous rare medicinal ingredients.
"Young Master, we’ve really stumbled upon a treasure this time." Xia Duoduo’s heart leaped with joy. "These are all Heaven and Earth Treasures, each one of immeasurable value."
Long Chen smiled, but his attention was drawn to a body lying nearby. The body was perfectly preserved, but its face was hidden behind a mask, rendering its features indiscernible.
He was puzzled. "This body looks like it’s been here for many years. How has it not decayed?"
"I can’t believe it. This is actually an incorruptible Demon Body," Xia Duoduo exclaimed in surprise.
"A Demon Body?" Long Chen asked in confusion. "Is it useful?"
"Extremely useful," Xia Duoduo began to explain. "It can be used as a Divine Sense avatar or be refined into a Puppet. Moreover, I can see that this Demon Body has been refined to perfection. With proper use, it will surely wield immense Might in the future. It’s like you’ve gained another powerful ally, Young Master."
"It has such benefits?" Long Chen’s eyes lit up after learning the Demon Body’s purpose.
"It seems the fellow you just destroyed was thoroughly prepared to reconstruct his physical body," Xia Duoduo said. "But he never imagined that all his efforts would only serve to benefit you, Young Master." She smiled. "One can only say his luck was abysmally poor."
"So, how do I use this Demon Body?" Long Chen asked again. If its uses were as great as Xia Duoduo described, he would have another means of survival.
BOOM!!
Before Xia Duoduo could answer, a deafening roar echoed from the main hall, and the entire structure began to shake violently.
"This is bad! The place is about to collapse!" Xia Duoduo said urgently. "Young Master, gather everything here first. I’ll explain the details later."
"Alright." Long Chen nodded. "Since he was so kind as to gift me these treasures, I won’t be polite."
He then swept all the treasures in the stone chamber into his spatial ring. Leaving the chamber, he immediately went to Chu Lingjun’s side, scooped her into his arms, and hurried toward the exit. Fortunately, Long Chen managed to carry Chu Lingjun out just before the entire place caved in.
He let out a long sigh of relief, then glanced down at the still-unconscious Chu Lingjun. Left with no other choice, he continued walking while carrying her.
The end of the assessment was drawing near, with only two days left. Before then, he had to get the item to Qingyin Temple as quickly as possible.
And so, Long Chen carried Chu Lingjun for a long time, finally exiting Demon Fall Ridge and getting back on the path to Qingyin Temple.
Chu Lingjun regained consciousness. She felt herself lying against a firm chest, a sensation that left her slightly dazed. Slowly opening her eyes, she was met with the sight of Long Chen’s handsome face. After a moment of shock, she realized she was being held tightly in his arms.
SWOOSH!
Her pretty face flushed red. This was the first time a man had ever held her like this, the first time she had been in such close contact with someone of the opposite sex.
"You’re awake?" Noticing her stir, Long Chen stopped in his tracks.
"Mhm," Chu Lingjun nodded. "You can put me down. I can walk on my own."
"Alright." Long Chen gently let her down and asked with concern, "How do you feel?"
"I’m not seriously hurt." Chu Lingjun shook her head, then asked, "How did we escape?"
"I defeated him, then brought you out," Long Chen explained simply.
"You defeated him?" Chu Lingjun was astonished, her eyes wide as she stared at Long Chen. She remembered Long Chen starting a fight with Chong Tian before she lost consciousness, so she was unaware of what happened afterward.
"Yes," Long Chen nodded. "It was a lucky break."
"But..."
Before Chu Lingjun could say more, Long Chen changed the subject. "If we press on for another day, we should reach Qingyin Temple. Let’s go."
With that, he started walking forward.
Watching his retreating back, Chu Lingjun felt a bit dazed. A complex look filled her eyes; this man before her seemed to grow more mysterious with each passing moment.
"Brother Long!"
"Sister Chu!"
Just then, a voice called out from the distance.
Hearing the call, Long Chen glanced in its direction and was taken aback. Tang Le?
Tang Le hurried toward them.
"What are you doing here?" Long Chen asked.
"As fellow disciples, how could I abandon you?" Tang Le smiled. "It’s so good to see you’re both safe. I was worried to death when I heard you’d fallen off the cliff."
"Then how did you find us here?" Long Chen asked, his gaze deep.
Tang Le quickly explained, "I believed that heaven protects the fortunate. I figured if you were alright, you’d continue with the assessment. So after shaking off the people from the Sword Ancestor, I headed toward Qingyin Temple, hoping I might run into you. I can’t believe I was actually right."
Long Chen said nothing, merely nodding slightly. "Then let’s travel together and focus on completing the assessment."
After a day’s journey, Chu Lingjun pointed toward a large mountain not far away. "Qingyin Temple is just ahead."
"We’re finally almost there." Long Chen remarked, looking in the direction she indicated as they continued forward.
At last, they ascended the mountain and arrived at the gates of Qingyin Temple.
A young monk approached them. "Distinguished guests, may I ask the purpose of your visit to Qingyin Temple?"
Chu Lingjun replied, "We are disciples of the Martial Ancestor, here on our elder’s orders to deliver an item."
"Ah, so you are disciples of the Martial Ancestor." The young monk offered a slight smile. "The Abbot has already given instructions. If disciples of the Martial Ancestor arrive, they are to be led to the great hall to meet with him. Distinguished guests, please follow me."
Hearing this, the three followed the monk inside. Upon reaching the great hall, the young monk gestured for them to be seated. "Please take a seat and wait for a moment. I will go inform the Abbot."
"Thank you," Chu Lingjun said with a nod.
Soon, an old man with a kind and gentle face slowly approached. Behind him followed several middle-aged monks, all high-ranking members of Qingyin Temple. This reception made it clear that the item they brought was of great importance to the temple.
"Abbot." Long Chen, Chu Lingjun, and Tang Le rose to their feet, clasping their hands in greeting.
"My apologies for the wait," the Abbot said, gesturing for them to sit once more. "It was a long and arduous journey. You have our thanks."
"Completing the task our elder entrusted to us is merely our duty," Chu Lingjun replied, presenting a jade box to the Abbot.
Taking the jade box, the Abbot’s eyes betrayed a hint of excitement before he opened it. The other monks from Qingyin Temple also fixed their gazes on the box, their faces filled with anticipation.
Seeing their reactions, Long Chen grew curious as well. What could possibly be inside to make everyone so agitated?
