Chapter 95: 0093 Notorious Mercenary

The lush branches and leaves covered the ground, and the mountain peaks stretched one after another, seemingly endless.

The continuous chirping of birds filled the forest, occasionally disturbed by footsteps that stirred a flock of flying geese, which then chattered away as they landed in another part of the woods.

After trekking for three hours, Ye Qiu finally arrived at the designated location and gazed at the solitary, dilapidated building. He focused intently for a moment. Was Ye Zi really inside there?

Ye Qiu was constantly worried about Ye Zi’s safety, and at this point, even if he were facing a dragon’s lair or a tiger’s den, he was determined to break through.

Pushing open the rusty iron door, he found the interior dimly lit. Fortunately, light filtered through the windows. It was a spacious hall without any room divisions, almost everything visible at a glance.

At the far end of the hall, right in front of him, Ye Qiu saw a figure tied to an iron rack, their long hair hanging down, and their head tilted to one side.

His heart clenched, Ye Zi!

Ye Qiu hurried forward, but just as he was about to reach the bound Ye Zi, suddenly a streak of cold light flew past, aiming straight for his forehead.

Always on the alert for any movements around him, the appearance of a hidden weapon didn’t surprise him. His body tilted sharply, and with a stomp of his foot, he instantly shot to the other side.

Whoosh, whoosh!

Two more streaks of cold light flashed, but Ye Qiu’s keen eyes spotted that they were daggers. A smile flickered across his lips as he suddenly reached out both hands.

With an aerial grasp, the two cold lights vanished, and now Ye Qiu held a dagger in each hand. He called out sharply, "Returning them to you!"

Whizz, whizz!

The daggers were suddenly hurled back in the opposite direction, faster and with more force. A glint of light passed by, and with a loud smack, the daggers seemed to strike something solid, making a resounding noise.

"To be able to catch my knives with just your hands, who exactly are you?"

A voice came from not far away, and Ye Qiu didn’t make another move, nor did he proceed to rescue Ye Zi. Instead, he stood still, his gaze piercing toward the source of the voice in the darkness.

A figure slowly emerged within Ye Qiu’s sight, a tall and thin man with a fierce scar on his face, looking more like a demon that had crawled out of hell.

Compared to the man before him, Ye Qiu was half a head shorter. He fixed his eyes on the man, asking, "Was it you who tied Ye Zi up there?"

The scarred man glanced at Ye Zi hanging her head on the iron rack and suddenly laughed, "What if it was? Capturing her was just bait to lure you in."

"You want to kill me?" Ye Qiu asked, a hint of a smile emerging at the corners of his mouth after hearing what the scarred man had said.

"I wasn’t particularly interested in killing you, but after seeing your moves just now, I’m intrigued," the scarred man laughed hoarsely, and somehow, he now held two more daggers in his hands.

Ye Qiu knew that to rescue Ye Zi, he had to take down the scarred man first.

Not wanting to waste time, he charged forward in an instant. The scarred man, too, was already intent on killing, and his daggers shot out swiftly, bearing a lethal intent to pierce Ye Qiu’s chest.

Ye Qiu dodged left and right, his body leaping up as he shifted his position, instantly evading the daggers and closing in on the scarred man.

The scarred man was startled, not expecting Ye Qiu’s reaction to be so fast that he disappeared from sight in the blink of an eye. When he looked again, Ye Qiu was upon him.

He hastily retreated, but Ye Qiu strode forward, unleashing a punch that thundered onto the other man’s shoulder.

The man with the scar was knocked back eight steps, his eyes filled with surprise and fury.

"Haha, Grey Wolf, you’ve lost. When it comes to a one-on-one fight, you are no match for him," another voice rang out. A bald man with a loud laugh appeared beside the one known as ’Grey Wolf,’ patted his shoulder, and said, "Let me!"

"This guy is tough as nails!" Having taken a hit from Ye Qiu, he no longer underestimated him and warned the bald man.

As expected, there was more than one enemy; another hidden one had revealed himself!

Ye Qiu had suspected that they were not alone; he had never let his guard down. Seeing the bald man emerge, his gaze suddenly changed, fixating on the pattern on the bald man’s head.

It was the image of a howling wolf, as though engraved on the bald man’s skull, vivid and lifelike.

"Are you guys from the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group?" Ye Qiu spat out the name.

Hearing his own group’s name, the bald man was taken aback and exclaimed in surprise, "You actually know of us?"

"The infamous Blood Wolf Mercenaries, who wouldn’t know!" Ye Qiu sneered coldly.

The Blood Wolf Mercenaries were an international mercenary group, notorious for their readiness to do anything for money, be it murder, pillage, or rape. There was nothing they wouldn’t do. freewebnσvel.cøm

One incident in particular had made the Blood Wolf Mercenary Group infamous in the entire assassin world: the Wall of Heads incident. It was said that at the time, the Blood Wolf Mercenaries killed 500 people, wiping out an entire village; none were spared, whether men, women, elderly, or children, and even the village livestock was exterminated. They then used the victims’ heads to build a wall and left the words ’Blood Wolf’ on the ground, proving it was the deed of the Blood Wolf Mercenaries.

Ye Qiu was by no means unfamiliar with this mercenary group. Although he had not met them before, he had long heard of their unscrupulous acts. Never had he imagined that today he would face this killer mercenary group.

"You’re no ordinary man; have you also been part of a killer organization?" the bald man asked.

"Bald Wolf, stop wasting words with him. Didn’t you say you were stronger than me? Let’s see you capture him," the ’Grey Wolf’ suddenly interjected, taunting the bald man.

"Hmph, my strength is indeed beyond yours," Bald Wolf glanced at Grey Wolf, but although his words dismissed the challenge, the recognition of their Blood Wolf identity and Ye Qiu’s calm stand made him take Ye Qiu seriously.

In his eyes, this man was anything but ordinary; he was very likely a killer-class figure.

"Grey Wolf, Bald Wolf, where are the other members of your Blood Wolf group? Why don’t they all come out to meet me?" Ye Qiu looked around, seeing only the two men before him, and couldn’t help but feel surprised. The Blood Wolf Mercenaries were not just a duo; there were several other members with ’wolf’ in their names.

"Hehe, to deal with you, we don’t need all the members of the Blood Wolves. I alone am more than enough," Bald Wolf said with confidence.

Ye Qiu let out a cold laugh, "Fine, then I’ll take you down first, and the others will naturally come out."

"Bold words," Bald Wolf’s voice boomed, his tone scoffing, as he waited for Ye Qiu to take the offensive.

He wanted to see what skills Ye Qiu had and how much effort he would need to put forth.

Playing with this fellow in front of him seemed like a quite entertaining prospect!

And, it would also serve to prove that he was stronger than Grey Wolf.

Thinking this, Bald Wolf’s desire to teach Ye Qiu a lesson grew even more intense.
