Chapter 1931: Chapter 1932: A Twist of Fate

The Turquoise Pool Saintess wants to question Ye Qiu?

The Stone Demon Lord furrowed his brows slightly, then snorted coldly, pretending not to hear. He was eager to kill Ye Qiu himself; how could he allow Ye Qiu to continue interacting with the Turquoise Pool Saintess, who was to be his bride?

Die!

The Stone Demon Lord did not stop; as he was about to attack again, suddenly, a figure stood between them.

"Turquoise Pool..."

The Stone Demon Lord ultimately did not strike, or the attack would have hit the Turquoise Pool Saintess.

"Can I privately ask him a few questions? Once I’m done, I will let him leave here. By then, whatever you do, I won’t inquire further, how about that?" the Turquoise Pool Saintess said.

The Stone Demon Lord stared at the Turquoise Pool Saintess for a long time, and finally, the murderous intent on his face disappeared with a smile. He said aloud, "Fine, out of respect for you, I can postpone killing him temporarily."

The Turquoise Pool Saintess nodded her head and said to Ye Qiu, "Follow me."

Ye Qiu had nearly resorted to using his Saint’s Avatar earlier. As long as the Saint’s Avatar emerged, it would surely block the Stone Demon Lord. However, the sudden appearance of the Turquoise Pool Saintess stopped him from executing that idea.

With the Stone Demon Lord forced to halt, Ye Qiu breathed a sigh of relief; he didn’t wish to reveal his Saint’s Avatar just yet. Being able to evade the Stone Demon Lord now was undoubtedly excellent, so he followed behind the Turquoise Pool Saintess once again into the Turquoise Pool’s sacred grounds.

In the blink of an eye, Ye Qiu found himself again within the Turquoise Pool’s sacred grounds. Yuan Dao Saint Heir, Yang Ce, and other individuals felt a trace of regret; but for the intervention of the Turquoise Pool Saintess, Ye Qiu might have perished at the hands of the Stone Demon Lord.

Who would have thought the Turquoise Pool Saintess would step in, seemingly just to ask Ye Qiu a few questions?

Could it be simply because Ye Qiu resembles someone known to the Turquoise Pool Saintess?

What does that person ultimately mean to the Turquoise Pool Saintess?

The Stone Demon Lord was naturally pondering this question as well; from the fact that the Turquoise Pool Saintess personally took action, he guessed that someone bearing a resemblance to Ye Qiu must be very important to her.

"Damn it, who is that guy? He must not be allowed to appear before the Turquoise Pool," the Stone Demon Lord thought darkly about the man esteemed by the Turquoise Pool Saintess, resolving that he must be eliminated. Alas, how could he have known that the man in question was actually Ye Qiu?

Observing Ye Qiu being called into the sacred grounds for questioning by the Turquoise Pool Saintess, Li Jin let out a sigh of relief; just moments ago, he thought for sure Ye Qiu was about to die at the hands of the Stone Demon Lord.

"Brother Ye survives such catastrophe, surely there will be prosperity. The opportunity to meet him at this Turquoise Pool gathering has been my greatest fortune," Li Jin mused. In his previous two participations at Turquoise Pool festivals, like most other Loose Cultivators, he’d been blocked from entering the celestial platform. But this time was different; he was brought onto the Turquoise Pool celestial platform by Ye Qiu, tasted the divine peaches, and his aptitude was elevated, making advancement to the Divinity Transformation Realm completely feasible. In fact, he harbored a slight hope for reaching Saint status, feeling it might be worth a try.

And all of this was thanks to Ye Qiu. Without him, Li Jin wouldn’t have had the chance to sit alongside the Saint Heirs, and in his heart, Ye Qiu was an important benefactor. Li Jin hoped Ye Qiu could evade the murderous intent of the Stone Demon Lord and grow stronger in the future.

Around them, others were also discussing the Turquoise Pool Saintess calling Ye Qiu into the sacred grounds, believing his luck was too good; many were envious, jealous, and resentful.

"The Saintess actually came out especially, click click... could it simply be because this boy resembles someone she knows?" An elder sighed.

"Old man, why care so much? Since the Saintess appeared, Brother Zhuang was spared the need to act. However, it’s a pity Brother Zhuang missed the chance to display his skills in front of that boy," commented another elder.

"Indeed, had Brother Zhuang casually blocked the Stone Demon Lord’s attack, that boy would surely have been grateful, making accepting him as a disciple so natural," mused several elders, lamenting that Zhuang Miao Shan missed the best opportunity to appear.

Zhuang Miao Shan, though reticent and somewhat regretting it internally, would never admit it and said to the group, "No need to worry about me; rather, shouldn’t you all want to recruit disciples? Among those Loose Cultivators ascending the celestial platform, there are some promising talents."

After Zhuang Miao Shan’s words, the elders’ expressions froze.

Of course, how had they forgotten? Focusing on Ye Qiu had nearly made them overlook the disciples they’d spotted!

"Old man, I’m not wasting time here with you; you keep watching, I’ll go recruit disciples."

"I’m going, too."

"Count me in."

Suddenly, only Zhuang Miao Shan remained as several figures left; then, he glanced in the direction Ye Qiu had disappeared and scratched his head, realizing, "The ’master saves disciple’ scenario can’t play out anymore; what to do now? Seems I’ll have to make him accept apprenticeship by force, hmm, he has no choice but to consent."

Saying this, Zhuang Miao Shan ran in the direction where Ye Qiu had vanished, prepared to wait for him.

After following the Turquoise Pool Saintess into a spacious room, Ye Qiu felt uneasy, uncertain about what the Saintess intended to ask of him; could it be she really recognized his identity?

As Ye Qiu’s mind raced with wild conjecture, the Turquoise Pool Saintess spoke, "From here, you can descend the mountain and leave. Go on."

Huh?

Ye Qiu glanced at a doorway opposite, likely an alternative entry to the Turquoise Pool sacred grounds.

What about the questions?

Is that it?

Ye Qiu felt a bit frustrated, as he’d been agonizing along the way, fearing he’d exposed some flaw that the Saintess might have discovered his identity. Yet, unexpectedly, she asked nothing and simply let him go.

"Um... May I ask, Saintess, why you chose to help me?" Ye Qiu paused by the door, unable to restrain his curiosity, wanting to understand the reason; there had to be some justification for aiding him.

"No reason," the Turquoise Pool Saintess replied calmly.

Ye Qiu furrowed his brows, then suddenly a glimmer of insight flashed in his eyes, "Saintess, is it because I resemble someone you know, that’s why you saved me? Am I right?"

Surprised that Ye Qiu connected the dots, the Saintess chuckled, "Correct, your eyes are much like that man’s; at first glance, I truly thought you were him."

"Your eyes are alike, but... in other aspects, there is no similarity. You are not him. If you insist on thanking someone, thank that person."

"Saintess, may you tell me that person’s name? So if fate allows, I might be able to repay him," Ye Qiu asked.

"Repay... Unlikely, I suppose, he won’t appear here," the Saintess smiled faintly, yet provided the name regardless.

"He’s called Ye Qiu; if ever the day comes, you can thank him."

"He took action to kill someone I disliked, and now meeting you with similar eyes makes us even, I’d say," the Saintess explained.

Ye Qiu frowned upon hearing this; whom did he kill to aid the Saintess’s release? After pondering for a moment, Ye Qiu’s eyes flashed as he thought of someone.

The Demon Lord Holy Son!

Could it be him?

Recalling the Stone Demon Lord’s arrival with a betrothal letter, Ye Qiu suspected that the undesirable person the Saintess referred to was indeed the Demon Lord Holy Son.

Fate truly is bizarre.

Ye Qiu felt as if Cang Tian was playing tricks; he assumed a different identity to appear before the Turquoise Pool Saintess, only to be saved by her.

"Regardless, I must thank you for your intervention, Saintess. With that, I take my leave." Ye Qiu cupped his hands, pushed the door open, and departed. As for gratitude to someone named Ye Qiu, which is himself, he dismissed it since he indeed is Ye Qiu.
