Super Spender-Chapter 633 - 627: Having A Lot of Money (Part 1)
Chapter 633: Chapter 627: Having A Lot of Money (Part 1)
“Your Highness, we have some bad news.” Dunn Monty whispered to Finn Lewis shortly after Caleb Shaw had left.
“What news?” Finn Lewis asked, startled.
“A rumor is circulating among the inner circles of the Death Star region – a new face, a primitive man from another planet, incredibly wealthy, has arrived for the first time on the Death Star. He supposedly holds at least tens of millions of star credits, earning considerable attention.” Monty relayed, grudgingly.
Finn Lewis furrowed his brow, “How did this information leak out?” Tens of millions of star credits? He didn’t possess that much, but he did have plenty of Roberts Coin. If word got out about his wealth in Roberts Coin, it could stir up even more frenzy.
“Who else, young master, but that 100 star credits you gave out when we entered the Death Star.” Monty said, somewhat helplessly.
“Alright then, what’s your suggestion.” Finn doubted the morals of these other crews. Even the Galactic Federation officials weren’t necessarily trustworthy. Not to mention, they were now in the Death Star, a place of boundless chaos. The individual who had sold the information about him could have asked for any price.
However, there was no room for regret in Finn Lewis’s way of life. He shrugged, “Simple, we now need to hire some mercenaries to guard us, and then wait for the reaction of the Blackwater Sect here.”
“Mercenaries, can we trust them?” Finn thought for a moment before asking hesitantly.
“Actually, sir, mercenaries can be quite reliable. Although a few bad apples exist among them, the majority uphold a decent reputation. After all, they still want to continue their work here. No one would be willing to tarnish their reputation for a single job. Even pirates have their own code of honor.” Monty assured.
“Talking about honor with pirates.” Finn was at a loss for words.
“Well, while interstellar pirates do the same things as typical pirates, they still have some of their principles. For example, if they ask for a certain amount of money to let you pass, and you pay them, they will not renege on their word. Or take transactions between pirates, these are usually carried out faithfully. They’re well aware that if they disregard the trust within their circle, it would become very hard for them to survive.” Monty explained.
Finn was not particularly interested, but hiring a mercenary group wasn’t a bad idea. This way, the ten robots he’d exchanged for could appear around him with sensible explanations.
“Sure, I got it. If so, then I will hire a mercenary group.” Finn announced decisively. “Find me a website where I can hire these mercenaries. There should be such a place, shouldn’t there?”
There was no issue with that. Monty quickly provided a website. Initially, he wanted to personally recommend some for Finn, but after more thought, he gave up. He felt that Finn did not trust him entirely, so he allowed Finn to choose for himself.
Anyway, as long as he was there to supervise, there should be no significant issues with whichever mercenary group Finn would choose.
“Mr. Lewis, John Jenkins, the third person in charge of the Blackwater Sect, is here to see you.” The system in Finn’s room suddenly alerted him to a visitor.
Hearing this name, Finn and Monty exchanged glances, both thinking the same thing – ‘he’s here so fast!’
“Let him in.” Finn responded.
The door swung open and a man, in his twenties or so, walked in. Finn greeted him with a smile. Although the man looked about the same age as him, Finn knew that he could not judge people’s ages by their faces here, as lifespans in this place were far different from Earth.
Many lived far longer than one could imagine, particularly those from the nine major families of the royal bloodline. Their ages were impressive and thus, Finn did not underestimate the man due to his youthful appearance.
“Mr. Jenkins, nice to meet you,” Finn greeted, shaking Jenkins’s hand. The greeting `s were similar to Earth’s practices.
“Nice to meet you too, Mr. Lewis. Please forgive my abrupt visit,” Jenkins replied cheerfully.
“Not at all, even if Mr. Jenkins had not come, I would have sought an opportunity to know you.” Finn replied with a smile.
These pleasantries were not taken to heart by either side. Neither was new to the game, they knew which words to take to heart and which to disregard.
“Ha, it’s our honor to have Mr. Lewis staying at the Blackwater Sect hotel,” Jenkins said with a smile.
“You flatter me, Mr. Jenkins. If your hotel did not possess such strong resources and excellent service, I would not choose to stay here. I believe you understand even better than I the things which matter in a place like this, which is why I chose Blackwater Sect.” Finn shooted back playfully.
“Mr. Lewis’s choice is unequivocally wise. As one of the three most powerful organizations in the Death Star region, choosing us is definitely the right move. We can guarantee Mr. Lewis’s absolute safety here,” Jenkins responded swiftly.
Finn chuckled. He knew not to take such words entirely seriously. It would depend on who he had provoked. If it was merely common folk from the Death Star region, then Jenkins’s words would hold. However, should he have offended one of the big three, including Blackwater Sect, then these assurances were worth bupkis.
“Well, Mr. Jenkins, thank you in advance. But this time you came to…?” Finn chuckled, choosing to cut to the chase. Jenkins couldn’t have possibly come merely to build relations. It would be perfectly clear to say that everyone who came to the Death Star, other than those with no options left, had an agenda. They couldn’t possibly be here just for sightseeing.
Sightseeing at the Death Star? Wasn’t that a suicide mission? Except for those tired of life, every visitor here had their own motive, none of them being pure.
