Chapter 2005: Chapter 2068: Portland

Another day passed, and after lunch, Li Yifei’s phone vibrated. He quickly opened the message, which contained an address pinpointed by latitude and longitude. Li Yifei immediately pulled out an app and entered the coordinates, quickly obtaining a geographic location.

"Is it Portland?" Li Yifei looked at the geographic coordinates displayed on the map and confirmed it was in Portland. The distance from Portland to Seattle wasn’t far; if driving, it would take about three hours, traffic notwithstanding.

Then another text message came, with the same sort of code. After deciphering it, Li Yifei found it hard to stay calm. The saint used the code to tell him that the child was now in Portland, but apparently, there were plans to move him. The information she had was like this, so Li Yifei had to get there as quickly as possible.

Li Yifei calmly put the phone into his pocket and then said to the two girls leisurely eating, "Liang Wei, Yi Me’er, thank you for your hospitality."

"You’re welcome. Didn’t we already agree? Make yourself at home. You can stay as long as you want," Yi Mei’er said, fluttering her eyes, pulling the spoon from her mouth, and looking at Li Yifei.

Liang Wei nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yeah, it’s boring with just the two of us at home, but having an uncle here is quite interesting."

Li Yifei smiled and said, "I’ll come over if there’s a chance in the future, but I have to leave now."

"Leave? Where are you going?" the two girls asked simultaneously.

"I need to go to Portland. I’ve received news about my son, and I have to bring him home," Li Yifei said.

"Really?" After the initial surprise, the two girls were happy for Li Yifei and said, "That’s great. Uncle, go and bring your son back. Once you have him, you can come back, right? As big sisters, we’ll prepare some gifts for him."

Yi Mei’er frowned and asked, "Uncle, how are you going to Portland?"

"Uh...by plane, I guess." Li Yifei replied.

"What plane? Take my sports car; you’ll get there in just over two hours if you hurry. You’ve been worrying about your son these days, and now that there’s news, you must rush over immediately."

Li Yifei had originally planned on this. He hesitated to ask, but when Yi Mei’er mentioned it, he took the keys and said, "That works. If I can make it back, I’ll personally return the car to you. If I can’t make it back, I’ll let you know where I parked it, and you’ll have to send someone to pick it up."

"Is it that serious?" The two girls detected Li Yifei’s seriousness.

"Yes, I’m just saying. Because...well, the other party doesn’t quite want me to take my son back," Li Yifei explained.

"That’s terrible! It’s your son; what right do they have to stop you from taking him back?" Liang Wei said indignantly, while Yi Mei’er clenched her fist and added, "Uncle, go for it! We believe you can definitely bring your son back. Alright, don’t waste time; hit the road quickly."

During these days, they had exchanged contact information and knew Li Yifei was from Mile City, Ning Province, so they weren’t worried about losing touch with him. Of course, the two girls didn’t know more than that.

Li Yifei raised his hand to wave the keys and said, "Okay, I’m off. You’re welcome to visit Mile City anytime!"

"No problem, uncle, kiss kiss, good luck!" The two girls blew kisses boldly, making Li Yifei feel a bit embarrassed.

In the car, Li Yifei opened the navigation and quickly set off, heading straight for Portland.

"Such a mysterious uncle. Do you think he’ll be like in the movies, traveling hundreds of miles alone, overcoming countless obstacles, defeating various difficulties and enemies, slaying gods when there are gods, and demons when there are demons, all just to rescue his child?" Yi Mei’er smacked her lips and said, still savoring the idea.

Liang Wei’s mouth moved slightly, and she nodded, saying, "I think so too. Ah, he’s really handsome, too bad he’s already someone’s father." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"What’s wrong with being a father? Just for the fact that he traveled so far to get his son, he deserves a big thumbs up. So responsible. Vivian, why don’t you pursue the uncle? What’s wrong with someone who has a family? Doesn’t that show he’s responsible?"

"Get out of here. If you want to pursue, you do it. If my parents found out I was being a mistress for someone, they’d kill me on the spot." Liang Wei glanced at her best friend and couldn’t help but retort.

"Hehe, I wouldn’t. He is handsome, fits my type, but I wouldn’t want a man like that as a boyfriend."

"Why not?"

"Haven’t you heard of that saying?"

"What?"

"To admire from afar but not to toy with. If you actually get it, it becomes meaningless." As she said this, Yi Mei’er’s beautiful eyes shifted, and she continued, "Besides, I’ve heard that once men hit their thirties or forties, their bodies start to fail, while women in their thirties and forties are at their peak of need..."

"You little rascal, clearly still a virgin, yet..." Liang Wei blushed and couldn’t help but push her friend, interrupting her words.

"Hee hee, we’re already this age, what’s wrong with talking about it? Besides, I’m not planning to find someone like an uncle."

The two girls were giggling and chatting away, while Li Yifei had already driven several kilometers. If he had heard the conversation between the two girls just now, he wouldn’t know what to make of it. It’s one thing to doubt other things, but questioning his abilities is a challenge to him.

Of course, Li Yifei thought that even if he heard it, he would probably just shake his head. He didn’t have any thoughts about the two girls; he was not the same person he was a few years ago.

With great power comes great responsibility. That saying is for heroes; Li Yifei only wanted to protect his family. He stepped on the gas pedal, heart shouting, "Son, just wait a moment more, Dad is coming to get you."

A journey that should take three hours only took Li Yifei two as he sped along. The road was smooth all the way, and Li Yifei arrived in Portland, another bustling city on the West Coast of the United States. He got off the highway and looked at the marked location on the map, sending a message to the Saint: "I’ve arrived in Portland, less than five kilometers from the target location."

"Hurry, I just got news that they seem to be moving the child to New York. If they get on the plane, it’ll be hard to find them, and you’ll have to start searching all over again," the Saint called anxiously, not caring about exposing herself as she spoke to Li Yifei.

"Okay, I’m on my way!" Li Yifei felt a chill and immediately started the car, rushing towards the target location.

More than ten minutes later, Li Yifei reached his destination. It was a villa, smaller than the one Yi Mei’er and Liang Wei lived in, with much smaller grounds, but the walls were high, giving no view inside from the outside. Li Yifei parked the car, shoved open the door, and rushed out, jumping over the wall. Inside the yard were two wolf dogs that charged at Li Yifei when they saw him, but before they could bark, he kicked them away one by one, silencing them.

There were people inside the villa, and as soon as they saw the intrusion, they reacted quickly. Some rushed toward Li Yifei, while others reached for their chest or waist, seemingly drawing weapons. As Li Yifei broke in through the window, he had already scoped out the interior. He didn’t rush to deal with those charging at him but instead deftly dashed toward the ones pulling out weapons, using both his hands and feet to swiftly take out several people before dealing with the rest.

With a crash, Li Yifei threw a chair, trying to knock down the last person. Unfortunately, that person moved quickly too, the chair shattering against the wall, while that person sprinted upstairs.

Not letting you escape, Li Yifei took off after him, planting a foot on the sofa to leap five or six meters ahead, reaching the stairs. Just as he was about to charge upward, he saw a sofa coming down at him—it was pushed by the fleeing man upstairs. Li Yifei punched the sofa aside and rushed up to the second floor.

"Stand still!" Li Yifei shouted, only to see the man dart into a room and slam the door shut with a bang.

Li Yifei steadied himself, worried that the person might hold the child hostage, according to the Saint’s information; the child was hidden here.

However, after waiting for a moment, Li Yifei did not hear any sound from the room. He focused his senses and realized the room was empty.

Quickly raising his foot, Li Yifei kicked open the door, finding the room indeed empty, with the window open—clearly, the man had jumped out the window.

"Damn it," Li Yifei cursed, also leaping out the window, spotting the person’s figure. He unleashed his speed, chasing after him.

With Li Yifei’s speed, if he wanted to catch up, that person wouldn’t escape. Before long, Li Yifei had knocked the person to the ground with a kick, hoisting him up and dragging him back to the villa.

Inside the villa, there was no sign of the child. Li Yifei began to interrogate the captured man, who at first refused to speak, but after some persuasion from Li Yifei, confessed that half an hour ago, they suddenly received word that someone might come to snatch the child, so the organization ordered them to immediately move the child and leave some of them behind to hold the intruder back.

They hadn’t expected the attacker to be so powerful, almost incapacitating them at first contact.

"Where did they take the child?" Li Yifei asked coldly.

The man hesitated for a moment but then answered, "The child was taken to the airport, on the nearest flight to Los Angeles."

"Wasn’t it supposed to be to New York?" Li Yifei asked.

The man blinked in surprise, not expecting Li Yifei to know, then shook his head, saying, "The plan was to go to New York, but it was changed to Los Angeles."

"If you’re lying to me, you’re dead," Li Yifei threatened coldly, and the man hurriedly shook his head, saying he didn’t dare. Only then did Li Yifei strike him in the head, knocking him unconscious. By this time, it had been half an hour since the child had left; those people had probably reached the airport by now. Li Yifei had to hurry.
