Super Soldier in the City-Chapter 2001 - 2064: The Handsome Uncle on the Plane
Seattle, the largest city on the West Coast of the United States, is the biggest city in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, located between Puget Sound in Washington State and Lake Washington. It’s the center of commerce and culture in the Northwest, and a major tourist and trade port city connecting the Pacific Ocean and Europe.
The scenery here is beautiful, with the highest volcano in the United States—Mount Rainier—seen in the distance. The city has a typical maritime climate and experiences a lot of rain, earning it the nickname Rain City, and it also has the commendatory title of the Emerald City.
At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Li Yifei carried a small suitcase as he disembarked from the plane. After passing through customs and security checks, he walked to the restroom. Li Yifei checked his phone, sending a message to a number. He flushed the toilet and then stepped out to look in the mirror. In the reflection was a middle-aged man with a crew cut, and dark sideburns that weren’t long but well-shaped and expertly trimmed. There was also a mustache around his mouth, matching his face and making him look very handsome.
On the plane, the two young girls sitting next to Li Yifei kept turning their heads to look at him, appearing highly interested and several times mustered the courage to chat with Li Yifei. When Li Yifei started speaking, the girls were even more delighted. Not only was this middle-aged uncle handsome, but his voice also had a magnetic charm, pleasing to hear, perfectly fitting their fantasies of a charming uncle. On top of that, Li Yifei’s suit was very fitting, and from head to toe, nothing was cheap, even the lapel pin on his suit was distinctly elegant. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Li Yifei chatted with the girls for a while and learned that both were from Shanghai, had good family backgrounds, were studying abroad, and were just in their sophomore year. They had been close friends since high school. He also learned that neither of the girls had boyfriends. The big-eyed, cute girl was named Yi Mei’er, and the other one, with long hair and makeup, was named Liang Wei, whose English name was Vivian.
The two girls were both quite pretty and, given their affluent backgrounds, dressed well, which added to their appeal. Li Yifei hadn’t expected that he would attract the attention of girls like these, who even took the initiative to talk to him.
The two girls were students at the University of Seattle, a well-known university founded in 1891, one of the 28 colleges and universities established by Christian churches in the United States, and the largest independent university in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Li Yifei admired the girls for their ability to enter this university on their own merit.
If it were a few years ago, Li Yifei might have chosen to interact with them more. After all, they’re two beautiful girls. However, he wasn’t in Seattle for tourism or dating. He had his own affairs to attend to; otherwise, he wouldn’t have chosen to disguise himself or had a certificate arranged.
On the plane, when the two girls learned it was Li Yifei’s first time in Seattle, they eagerly introduced the city’s scenery and food. Li Yifei mentioned a movie, "Sleepless in Seattle," which made the two girls nod repeatedly.
This is a romantic film released in 1993, starring Tom Cruise and Meg Ryan. It tells the story of Sam, a widower who doesn’t want to remarry, but his son Jonah hopes for a mother figure, leading to a search for love through a radio show.
"Sam believes true love only comes once, and he will never find another woman like his wife, Maggie." Liang Wei narrated the plot with bright eyes, and Yi Mei’er nodded vigorously, following Liang Wei to say, "But in the end, Sam fell for Annie at first sight, and it was exceedingly romantic. I still remember the last few minutes of the movie. It was so touching."
Li Yifei nodded noncommittally. A widower and a woman with a fiancé falling in love at first sight seemed somewhat unethical under Huaxia’s moral standards, but when viewed from another angle, perhaps beautiful and romantic love is like this—quite difficult to judge as good or bad.
After the girls finished speaking, they added, "Uncle, you seem a lot like Sam. Are you also coming to Seattle to find a new love?"
"Me?" Li Yifei, surprised, pointed to himself, wondering if he looked like a man whose wife had passed away. He shook his head and replied, "No, I’m here to pick up my son."
"Oh my gosh, uncle, you have a son? This is beginning to feel more and more like ’Sleepless in Seattle.’ Maybe he’ll find you a new wife!" Yi Mei’er exclaimed with wide eyes.
Li Yifei felt like rolling his eyes. He realized the two girls were only chatting with him because they thought he was handsome. He even overheard them whispering to each other, comparing him to a certain host surnamed Wu from Shanghai, believing he was just as handsome.
Silly kids, it’s all a result of makeup. If you saw my true face, you wouldn’t think I’m handsome. Li Yifei shook his head.
Leaving the restroom, Li Yifei carried his small suitcase intending to exit the airport. Just outside, he noticed Liang Wei waving at him, carrying two very large suitcases, calling out, "Uncle!"
Li Yifei approached her, and Liang Wei said, "Uncle, don’t be afraid, we mean no harm."
Li Yifei thought that should be his line. He nodded, listening to Liang Wei point to the other side, saying, "Yi Mei’er went to get the car. Since it’s your first time in Seattle, you might not be familiar with the place. If your English isn’t great, it could be inconvenient. So we decided to take you to where you’re staying. If you’ve booked a hotel, we’ll take you there. If not, we can help you book one. Don’t worry, Yi Mei’er and I are like good Samaritans."
You two aren’t just good Samaritans; you’re chatterboxes and excessively kind-hearted. Li Yifei thought to himself. Although he has rarely encountered such helpful people until now, considering the distance from the airport to his destination, Li Yifei agreed, saying, "Alright, thank you. I need to go to the Westhouse Hotel; I’ve reserved a room there."
"Westhouse Hotel?" Liang Wei confirmed, her eyes lighting up as she clapped her hands excitedly, "That’s great, we’re quite lucky. Yi Mei’er and I live nearby, so we can give you a ride. If you’re up for it, we can even take you to try the local specialties. Alright, although these specialties aren’t as good as domestic delicacies, they count as exotic vibes. Uncle, don’t refuse."
"I..." Li Yifei thought this was too warm-hearted. Were they really not worried he might be a bad guy, or were they just too naive? But surely, ones able to study abroad alone couldn’t be too naive.
Of course, Li Yifei merely thought about it; he wasn’t worried that anything unexpected would occur, even if these two young girls had other motives.
Soon, Yi Mei’er drove up, and to Li Yifei’s surprise, she was driving a large Land Rover. After helping Liang Wei load the suitcases into the back, Li Yifei sat in the rear seat. Yi Mei’er drove while Liang Wei didn’t sit in the back, instead taking the front passenger seat. Throughout the drive, she frequently turned around to explain the buildings along the way and some local points of interest to Li Yifei.
In front of the Westhouse Hotel, the two girls were unwilling to leave and insisted on escorting Li Yifei upstairs. Momentarily, Li Yifei even doubted if the girls were part of an organization. However, he didn’t believe his covert actions had been exposed. This trip to the States was so discreet that even his family didn’t know when he left or how he traveled or even that his destination was Seattle.
The traitor within his household may still be undetected, prompting him to exercise caution.
Entering the room, Li Yifei found he had booked an ordinary room, which even had a damp, musty smell inside. The two girls immediately frowned. Liang Wei shook her head and said, "Uncle, you can’t stay in a room like this alone. No way, we need to check out immediately."
"Ah?" As Li Yifei laid down his luggage, he heard Liang Wei’s announcement, looking somewhat puzzled.
Yi Mei’er also nodded and said, "Yes, how can anyone stay in such a room? Uncle, let’s do this: come back with us. The place where Liang Wei and I live is a standalone villa, not shared with others. There are many empty rooms, and the maid regularly tidies up, ensuring it’s clean!"
Geez, you’re even bolder. Li Yifei’s lips twitched. Before he could respond, the two girls made the decision for him, grabbing his small suitcase, saying, "That’s that, we’re heading home. Conveniently, we can grab some dinner afterwards."
"Hang on, I didn’t say I was coming!" Li Yifei said, somewhat speechless as he watched the two girls.
To his surprise, Yi Mei’er and Liang Wei weren’t deterred. They continued on downstairs, leaving Li Yifei at a loss—neither comfortable staying behind nor standing in the apartment.
A few minutes later, having checked out, Li Yifei sat in the back seat and eyed the two complacent girls. He felt as if he had boarded a ship led by bandits.
"Do you really think I’m that handsome?" Li Yifei struggled for a long time before asking.
Liang Wei turned her head, grinned broadly, and nodded emphatically, with her big eyes sparkling, saying, "It’s not just handsome; it’s very handsome."
"Can’t be that much," Li Yifei said, reluctant to believe it.
"It indeed is, uncle. You have no idea; both Vivian and I are fond of uncles. Recently, there was an imported movie called ’Finding Mr. Right.’ The actor ’Wu Uncle’ charmed us to no end. Sadly, he’s a celebrity, and we don’t know him. We didn’t expect to meet such a handsome uncle like you on the plane... uh, don’t get me wrong. We only meant to help. We couldn’t let you stay in such a dark and dingy room. Moreover, since our place is empty, we thought you might stay over instead of suffering."
"Right, no worries, uncle. We’re nice people; we won’t eat you."
