Super Soldier in the City-Chapter 1897 - 1960: Hostage Taking
Finally, Su Lio followed them into the car, a convoy of twenty vehicles sped across the desert. These people were equipped differently, but all had the best gear. The group consisted of Asians, Caucasians, Africans, and even those with chocolate-brown skin. Strictly speaking, they were all mercenaries, and their combat skills were truly impressive.
Li Yifei had already received the blueprints on the way and was drawing up an operation plan on a piece of paper. In the past, as the Team Leader of the Flying Hawk Squad, he often commanded squad operations. However, the strategies he usually commanded involved on-the-spot adjustments, while overall strategies were typically predetermined.
The current situation inside the factory was unclear, but with so many hostages, they were likely gathered in one location for management, otherwise, there would be mistakes. The most probable location was the dormitory, so Li Yifei marked it as a priority. He then asked a bodyguard who had been to the factory to describe the surrounding terrain. With everyone’s weapons combined, Li Yifei needed to find a weak point to assault, at least ensuring the majority of the hostages’ safety first. As for eliminating the enemies, that was something for later, or rather, secondary.
Once people are dead, there’s nothing left. Li Yifei didn’t want the Huaxia workers to be killed or injured by those terrorists in the end.
The location was some distance from Dubai, and after two hours of high-speed driving, three helicopters caught up from behind. Two were armed and one was civilian. These helicopters were temporarily transferred by Sashar, with the armed helicopters supplied by Prince Parsons. He had the authority to mobilize two helicopters, while the other was Sashar’s, a modified large helicopter capable of carrying weapons.
Li Yifei decided to use the armed helicopters to launch a sudden assault and catch the enemy off guard. He and Sophia would lead a team from the helicopters, first securing the hostages and minimizing innocent casualties. Then, the others would launch a frontal assault, coordinating from inside and out. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
After another two hours of driving, they were less than ten kilometers in a straight line from the factory. At this speed, they would probably arrive in five to six minutes. Li Yifei instructed the lead vehicle to slow down, prepared to get out and board the armed helicopter. Before getting out, Li Yifei gave Su Lio a deep look. He understood her thoughts but still said, "If you’re scared, close your eyes, listen to some music, don’t overthink it. If someone comes out from inside, don’t approach them. You two protect her well. If things don’t work out, I allow you to drive away in advance!"
He was saying that in case of an accident, Li Yifei had to ensure Su Lio’s safety.
Su Lio, her face somewhat pale, nodded and said, "You... all, be careful."
Sophia gave her a smile but didn’t speak. On the road earlier, Li Yifei was worried she might feel sick from being too nervous, so he had infused a stream of True Qi into her body, making her feel warm.
Even so, when shaking hands with Li Yifei in front of a few people, Su Lio still felt a bit unnatural.
Sitting in the car, Su Lio watched as several people got out. Sashar and Sarama didn’t listen to Li Yifei’s advice and chose to rush in to kill the enemy.
Sarama was determined to charge with Li Yifei, while Sashar was simply filled with rage, holding an M16 and ready to kill.
"I won’t try to stop you. But you must be careful." Li Yifei said to Sashar before boarding the helicopter.
"Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing." Sashar replied.
The helicopter was about to take off when Li Yifei’s phone suddenly rang. Su Lio ran out of the car with the phone, calling Li Yifei’s name.
Li Yifei took the phone, saw the number on the screen, and smiled with joy. He quickly answered, "Hey? Is that Shanshan?"
He was actually afraid of hearing a man’s voice on the other end, which would mean the two women were also captured.
Fortunately, heaven was watching over the two women, and the terrorists hadn’t found them yet. However, both of their phones were left in the car, and Xu Shanshan had managed to retrieve hers unnoticed, allowing her to call Li Yifei.
"Brother-in... uh, brother-in-law!" Xu Shanshan almost called out the wrong name, speaking in a low and suppressed voice.
"Shanshan, it’s me. How are you and Sister Fangqing now?" Li Yifei’s heart tightened upon hearing Xu Shanshan’s voice.
Xu Shanshan quickly said, "Brother-in-law, do you know what’s happening here?"
"I’m almost there. How are you doing, are you safe for the time being?"
"Sister Fangqing and I are safe for now, we’re hiding." Xu Shanshan replied softly. Hearing that Li Yifei not only knew about the situation but was almost there, Xu Shanshan couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. She and He Fangqing had arrived yesterday, intending to return today, but then the terrorists stormed in. At that time, she was accompanying He Fangqing to the bathroom when they saw the situation outside through the glass. Xu Shanshan’s first reaction was to rush out and fight these people, but seeing that the enemy was too many, she hurried back, pulled He Fangqing, who had just finished using the bathroom, and hid in a corner of one of the factory buildings. It was a dark room. The terrorists searched the area but didn’t find the two of them.
"Brother-in-law, the terrorists killed several workers, but none of them were ours, they were local workers." Xu Shanshan said. "There are about a hundred and fifty of them. Right now, all the workers have been herded into the dormitory, and other terrorists are guarding the place. The money I brought was taken by them!"
"These are minor issues. As long as you and Fangqing are safe, that’s what’s important. As for the workers, if any unfortunate accidents happen, we will avenge them. What’s crucial right now is for you and Fangqing to protect yourselves. There are too many enemies, not something you can handle alone. You two stay hidden while your husband comes to rescue you!" By this point, Li Yifei didn’t hide his identity and directly called himself her husband. Sophia found it normal, while Su Lio, holding the phone for him, raised her eyebrows. She knew the identities of the two women held by the terrorists — one was Xu Yingying’s twin sister, the other, the eldest sister, was Li Yifei’s wife. But speaking over the phone now was Xu Yingying’s sister, so how could she call him husband...
This wolf in sheep’s clothing... Su Lio didn’t know what words to use to describe Li Yifei.
Li Yifei didn’t pay too much attention to this matter. He continued, "Do you know anything else about the situation? Where is the leader likely positioned?"
Xu Shanshan thought for a moment and said, "Not exactly sure, but I think it should be in the command office, as it’s the best place. The money was originally there as well. If you’re going to attack, I think you should hit that place first. Also, husband, don’t come during the day. These people have advanced weapons. I even saw anti-tank weapons, and there’s a small missile on one of their vehicles. I’m worried if you guys charge straight in, you’ll suffer heavy losses."
"Even that?" Li Yifei frowned. He could face a hundred people and maybe none of them could harm him, but if there was a missile, Li Yifei would run as far away as possible. His body was only human and couldn’t withstand such a thing.
It was almost evening now. Li Yifei looked up at the sky and then turned to ask, "How long until dark?"
"Two to three hours," Sashar replied.
"Tell everyone to rest here for now. Send out a few squads to keep watch around us. If you encounter anyone from the other side, take them down directly. Don’t let them send the message back. We’ll go in once it’s dark. They have heavy weapons; charging in now is too risky." Li Yifei said. With the information from Xu Shanshan, Li Yifei had to adjust the operation plan. Rescuing the hostages was crucial, but if Xu Shanshan and He Fangqing were temporarily safe, the strategy could be altered.
The group nodded, and soon a few squads were dispatched in vehicles towards designated directions. The rest remained on standby while Li Yifei began selecting a team of elites, preparing a twenty-man squad to go in ahead and see if they could directly strike the enemy leader. If they captured or killed Ayala, the remaining enemies would be in disarray.
The main reason Li Yifei wasn’t rushing the attack was because he knew Xu Shanshan and He Fangqing were currently safe. Otherwise, regardless of the obstacles, even if there was a volcano, Li Yifei wouldn’t hesitate to dive in.
The place where Xu Shanshan and He Fangqing were hiding was a dark room. Without insider knowledge, it was impossible to find. The two of them had blocked the door and even found several boxes of water and some food shipped from Huaxia, so they didn’t even need to worry about supplies.
Shortly after the call ended, Ayala gave an order. One of his men had extracted information from a local, and this news delighted Ayala. Apparently, there were two senior executives from Huaxia, and reportedly, they were both women.
Initially, he thought the highest-ranking person here was probably just a manager. However, discovering two supposedly high-level executives from Huaxia was great news. Capturing them would provide greater leverage in future negotiations.
Conversely, the safety of Ayala’s men would be enhanced. Ayala was furious after the organization’s second-in-command had been captured, and the Dubai officials dared to detain his people, so Ayala decided to teach them a lesson. As for the large sum of dollars and dirhams they seized, that was just a windfall.
Ayala quickly ordered his men to capture the two executives and guard them closely. He was already contemplating how much ransom to demand from the Huaxia side. For ordinary people, maybe a million each. But for the two executives, Ayala considered a billion dollars each a reasonable price.
Taking hostages, extorting money, these were common acts for these terrorists. Of course, not every attempt was successful, but when one did succeed, it was enough for them to live comfortably for a while.
