Chapter 352: Chapter 246: All Kinds of Chaos

Yi Anguo has not been troubled by financial issues, so he feels no urgency to sell off this stock of Hainan Huanghuali, and thus his mindset remains very stable.

If it were anyone else, having so much Hainan Huanghuali wood stored in a warehouse, they might have long been anxious to liquidate it.

Among the inventory of rosewood, besides Hainan Huanghuali, the most valuable is naturally Vietnamese Huanghuali. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Through years of continuous acquisitions, especially in 2008, when he acquired a large batch of Vietnamese Huanghuali from the Guo brothers, it has reached over 500 tons.

So the inventory of Vietnamese Huanghuali is quite plentiful, filling several warehouses. Just think of the Guo brothers’ acquisition from Vietnam between 2006 and 2007, they procured over 500 tons of Vietnamese Huanghuali in just a year or two.

Now after nearly three years of acquisition in Vietnam, aside from buying Vietnamese Huanghuali from the Guo brothers, Yi Xiaolin also frequently travels to Pingxiang to purchase directly from Vietnamese timber merchants.

In the last two years, there hasn’t been much selling of Vietnamese Huanghuali; most of it has been stored, waiting for prices to rise before selling.

Therefore, the current inventory of Vietnamese Huanghuali has reached over 2000 tons.

The third most valuable wood in inventory is Indian small-leaved red sandalwood, which is priced at around 1.3 million per ton for regular wood, and particularly good large material is even more expensive. But, ten of nine cases of Indian small-leaved red sandalwood are hollow, with very few good-quality pieces.

Furniture made from small-leaved sandalwood has been continuously produced and has not been restricted from supply to the market. However, there is still quite a bit of stock; it mainly was accumulated when prices were very low initially.

In 2006, small-leaved sandalwood was only about 150,000 to 200,000 per ton; in 2007, it doubled, reaching 600,000 per ton by 2008, breaking 1 million per ton by the second half of 2009, and now it’s 1.3 million per ton.

However, very soon, due to excessive speculation, the price of small-leaved sandalwood was about to drop again. In 2011, it was roughly 1.2 million per ton, by June 2012, it was still 1.1 million per ton, but after June 2012, it plummeted to 700,000 per ton.

But by 2013, the price of small-leaved sandalwood had increased again to 1.5 million per ton.

"Are we not acquiring any more of this Indian small-leaved sandalwood now?" Yi Anguo asked Yi Xiaolin who was beside him.

"The acquisition has already stopped. Ever since the price of Indian small-leaved sandalwood broke 1 million per ton, we haven’t acquired any more." Yi Xiaolin replied.

"That’s good. Now make sure not to acquire any more; the prices are too high right now, and they will come down in the future." Yi Anguo nodded in satisfaction.

"How much stock do we still have, and how long can it last?" Yi Anguo asked again.

"We have plenty of stock, it could last three to five years without issues." Yi Xiaolin responded.

"There’s still so much stock?" Yi Anguo exclaimed in surprise, simultaneously frowning slightly.

"However, recently, the orders for Indian small-leaved sandalwood have increased dramatically, so it’s hard to say exactly how long it can last. The key is how much furniture orders we get." Yi Xiaolin explained further.

"Then let’s speed it up and sell more now; the market is good, and we can slightly lower the price of our small-leaved sandalwood furniture." Yi Anguo suggested after a pause.

"It’s not good to lower the price of small-leaved sandalwood furniture! Those customers who have already placed orders will definitely be dissatisfied seeing the price lowered." Yi Xiaoling hesitated a bit before saying.

"Let’s leave the price unchanged and sell raw wood directly. The market is good now, raw wood should sell easily, right?" Yi Anguo reconsidered and suggested.

"Selling raw wood directly is certainly good; as long as we have stock, there’s no worry about selling it." Yi Xiaolin agreed.

"But we acquired these with great difficulty, and although selling raw wood can still make money, it’s much less than selling it as furniture."

"It’s okay to make a little less, the key is you can’t sell that much by turning it all into furniture." Yi Anguo said helplessly.

"In at most two years, the price of this Indian small-leaved sandalwood could significantly drop; wouldn’t it be more worthwhile to acquire then? If you don’t sell now, when the price drops, won’t you lose even more?"

"But during the financial crisis in 2008, the price of Indian small-leaved sandalwood rose instead of falling, and these years have been steadily rising. From 2006 to now, in just over four years, it has increased by almost tenfold." Yi Xiaolin expressed some doubt.

"Besides, the market is very hot now; if in two years the price doesn’t drop significantly but keeps getting higher, then selling raw wood now would mean a loss for us."

"The price of anything can’t keep rising forever, trust my judgment. When have I ever made a wrong judgment?" Yi Anguo said confidently.

Yi Xiaolin was rendered speechless. He had no way to refute Anguo’s words.

Because in his impression, Yi Anguo had indeed never made a wrong judgment on the tasks he had assigned him.

For example, the massive stockpile of Laotian red acid wood; the price of Lao red acid wood large slabs had skyrocketed more than 20 times in just two years from its lowest point in 2008.

Because the cost price of raw materials was low, Anguo’s rosewood furniture had unbeatable market competitiveness, no matter how it was sold, it would absolutely not incur a loss, never fearing a price war with any competitors.
