Chapter 1002 -1002: Walking the Dog Leash

Yue Hongyan carefully counted; aside from the strikingly beautiful crimson thread, Lin Shen’s hand was also holding around fifteen to twenty marriage threads of various different colors.

Among them, a few were rather dim, merely ordinary shades of pink and peach red.

What puzzled Yue Hongyan was that Tian’s crimson thread was dazzlingly bright. Besides that, there were eight purplish-red marriage threads, bewitchingly bright and eerily charming. Their brightness was too overwhelming; the usual crimson marriage threads of ordinary people couldn’t compare to these in luminosity. This was something Yue Hongyan had never seen before.

If one looked carefully, that blue thread was actually also tinged with purple, similarly exhibiting an extreme brightness.

“How could this scumbag’s marriage threads be so bizarre? The crimson thread is already unbelievably bright; why are there nine threads that shine so intensely?” Yue Hongyan had never seen such bright marriage threads, let alone one that was blue.

Including that crimson thread, Lin Shen was holding a total of ten marriage threads that shone extraordinarily.

As Yue Hongyan pondered what this was all about, her gaze suddenly sharpened; among those eight purplish-red marriage threads, one seemed particularly long, stretching towards her, unlike the other threads that vanished into the void.

A sense of foreboding struck Yue Hongyan, and she hastily followed the thread with her eyes, only to see the marriage thread extending in her direction.

“No… it can’t be… definitely not…” Yue Hongyan’s complexion became increasingly uneasy as the marriage thread she was eyeing drew closer.

Finally, Yue Hongyan stood there, still, head bowed, with a barely noticeable tremble in her body.

She couldn’t accept everything she was seeing, nor could she believe that such a thing could happen to her.

That purplish-red thread in Lin Shen’s hand continued to extend to her, but it was not tied to her ankle nor wrapped around her wrist.

Yue Hongyan couldn’t accept that the purplish-red thread was actually tied around her neck.

“Asshole!” Yue Hongyan’s heart was nearly driven to madness.

What sense does it make for a marriage thread to be tied around the neck? She had never heard of such a thing, and even the Divine Skills passed down by her family had not mentioned the significance of this scenario.

But to Yue Hongyan, that Lin Shen was holding one end of the marriage thread while the other end was wrapped around her neck, it wasn’t so much a marriage thread—it should be called a leash instead.

“Yue’er… what happened to you…” Lady Lei noticed that something was off with Yue Hongyan’s expression. The usually sunny and cheerful girl had never previously shown such emotions. Though Lady Lei could not see Yue Hongyan’s face, just from her current demeanor, one could feel a murderous aura emanating from her, almost visible to the naked eye.

“No… it’s… nothing…” Yue Hongyan lifted her head, revealing a smile, but that smile only made Lady Lei’s skin crawl.

As soon as Yue Hongyan spoke, she ignored Lady Lei, stretched out two fingers, and mysterious Law Power surged. Then, as if with scissors, she fiercely snipped at the void.

“Yue’er… what are you doing…” Lady Lei anxiously watched Yue Hongyan, wondering if she was cutting off the marriage thread from Lin Shen.

“Sister Lei, please wait here for a moment.” Having said that, Yue Hongyan stood up and left without giving Lady Lei a chance to react.

Turning around, Yue Hongyan’s face looked so sullen it seemed as if it were about to drip with dark water.

She had just attempted to use the power of the Marriage Law to sever the red thread tied around her neck, yet to no avail.

After leaving, Yue Hongyan went directly to her usual place of martial practice. An unparalleled, terrifying energy erupted from within her body, and a figure like that of a divine being appeared over her, enveloping her form, while a stunning red brilliance surged forth.

The Practice Room was immediately filled with flickering otherworldly light, as strange forces continuously exploded, with various lights and shadows shining in succession.

After a long while, Yue Hongyan, gasping for breath, slumped to the ground.

“What on earth is going on?” Yue Hongyan, unable to sever the red thread around her neck, couldn’t understand how such a thing was possible. With her status as an Upper Divine Being and her control over the Marriage Law, she had never imagined there would be a red thread in this world she couldn’t cut through.

Yet such a thing had happened, and it had happened to her, no less.

Yue Hongyan knew the red thread was uncuttable. If the problem couldn’t be solved, then the person who caused the problem would have to be dealt with.

When Yue Hongyan left the Practice Room and returned to the living room, her face was already adorned with a smile.

“Yue’er, are you alright?” Lady Lei, seeing the smile on Yue Hongyan’s face, thinking that everything must be fine, secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

“Sister, what could possibly be wrong with me? I was just a bit surprised earlier. This Tian from the Deng Family is certainly no ordinary person,” Yue Hongyan said with a smile.

“What’s so extraordinary about him?” Lady Lei thought Yue Hongyan had discovered something and felt somewhat worried, yet she maintained her composure with a smile: “If we’re talking about being extraordinary, it’s his brothers who are, not him. He falls somewhat short.”

Yue Hongyan looked at Lady Lei and curled her lip: “This man has not just one, but multiple red threads. His heart is quite fickle.”

“I thought there was some serious matter. Young people, well, who doesn’t have some wild oats to sow. When I was young, I also fancied quite a few handsome lads,” Lady Lei laughed. “Didn’t you just help him cut them off? Once they’re married, naturally there won’t be so many issues. We really owe you a debt of gratitude for helping us out. Otherwise, if something went wrong at the critical moment of alliance, it would look bad for both the Deng and Shen families.”

“The problem isn’t completely resolved. To thoroughly put an end to it, I need to meet him in person,” Yue Hongyan took the opportunity to state her condition.

She must meet Lin Shen in person. If the red thread around her neck couldn’t be resolved, dealing with the person at the other end might be an option.

She pretended as if nothing was amiss purely to make Lady Lei bring Lin Shen to her, or it was the same for her to see Lin Shen and see if the problem could be resolved.

Unfortunately, Lady Lei hadn’t even seen Lin Shen herself, let alone be able to bring Yue Hongyan to see him.

“Sister, these are trivial matters. Right now, during this crucial moment of alliance, he can’t possibly be in two places at once, right…” Lady Lei wanted to say that it would suffice for her to just reconnect the threads, and not to worry about the rest, but before the words could leave her mouth, Yue Hongyan interrupted her.

“I can go with you. If we don’t solve this problem, the alliance between the Deng and Shen families may hardly continue,” Yue Hongyan said with a serious face.

“This… Sister… With your status, going now… If people found out, it might not look good… We are upright and honest… but could the Shen Family perhaps think too much…” Lady Lei was inwardly conflicted and had to find an excuse to decline. She hadn’t expected things to turn out this way.
