Super Combat Soldier-Chapter 1726 - 1725: A Strange Place, Strange Happenings!
Speak the truth!
Between Ye Tianchen and Liu Rumei, there are hidden feelings and different thoughts from each of them. At this moment, it’s best to let things unfold naturally without over-explaining!
Even though they knew that Yong Chun Tai was hiding in Zhongnan Mountain, Zhongnan Mountain is vast. Even if Ye Tianchen wanted to use Divine Thought to search, it would be impossible to pinpoint Yong Chun Tai’s exact location. Neither Ye Tianchen nor Liu Rumei knew exactly where Yong Chun Tai was hiding; they had to search slowly, as rushing wouldn’t lead to finding them.
They joined a tour group, to be precise, not a formal tour group but just a local guide trying to find customers and business. They could take some tourists to the hidden areas of Zhongnan Mountain. These so-called hidden places are mainly those not allowed by the local government for tourists to visit. These places are either full of mysteries or extremely perilous, all for the sake of tourist safety. However, these locals, who bring tourists for adventures, think differently as they are just in it for the money, and curious tourists naturally flock with them!
After Ye Tianchen and Liu Rumei paid the fee, they quietly followed the local guide to a hidden spot at the pinnacle of Taiyi Mountain. After looking around and ensuring no one was around, the guide opened an old door and led everyone inside. Approximately seven or eight people followed Ye Tianchen, all driven by curiosity and recruited by the local guide.
"Wow, I’ve been to Taiyi Mountain three or four times, yet I never discovered such a place!"
"Taiyi Mountain is indeed magical. It’s rumored to be a Blessed Land Cave Heaven where Immortals cultivate!"
"Not only do Immortals cultivate here, but there are also Spiritual Medicines and Divine Herbs, I’ve heard?"
"If we could get one, wouldn’t it allow us to live forever after consuming it?"
Hearing these mundane people’s discussions, Ye Tianchen couldn’t help but shake his head with a smile. In the world of ordinary people, in their minds, everything is always so ideal. If a single Spiritual Medicine Divine Herb is enough to make someone immortal, who knows how many Martial Artists in the Martial Arts World could live forever. The Martial Artists, deemed omnipotent in the eyes of ordinary people, are actually tragic figures who can’t escape death!
"Why does walking on this bridge feel shaky? Isn’t it about to collapse?" Liu Rumei asked worriedly.
"Looking at this path, it’s almost certainly secretly built by the locals. Naturally, it isn’t well-built, and being suspended, such bridge-building skills are definitely inadequate. However, they went to such extents for money, to bring some curious tourists to such a place!" Ye Tianchen remarked while looking at the wooden suspension bridge below.
"If it collapses, we would lose our lives at the bottomless cliff!" Liu Rumei looked down, feeling a sense of worry as the clouds and mist swirled below.
"Don’t worry, just move forward boldly. I’m here, nothing will happen!" Ye Tianchen said with a smile.
They walked approximately a thousand meters forward, and all seven or eight people, including Ye Tianchen and Liu Rumei, stopped as the local guide disallowed them from proceeding, gathering everyone together: "This is the end of the line. There is still some distance ahead, but we can’t go any further. Just enjoy the surrounding scenery here; it’s quite impressive and not something everyone can see!"
For a moment, several tourists praised the place and took out their cameras to start photographing. These locals were undoubtedly economically astute and capable enough to secretly carve out a path on Taiyi Mountain at Zhongnan Mountain’s main peak and build this suspended wooden bridge. Extending over a thousand meters from the mountaintop, it was provided for tourists to walk and visit. This allowed them to see the surrounding peaks as if encapsulating everyone within—a truly magical and wonderful feeling!
"You enjoy the scenery here as well, while I go chat with the guide!" Ye Tianchen said with a smile after glancing at Liu Rumei.
"Chat about what?" Liu Rumei asked in confusion.
"I feel there’s more to this path; it seems the guide is scared. There might be something hidden in this!" Ye Tianchen remarked.
"Alright, hopefully, we’ll discover something!" Liu Rumei nodded.
Ye Tianchen approached the guide as the other tourists admired the surrounding scenery. Upon seeing Ye Tianchen walk towards him, without being captivated by the peculiar beauty, the guide also felt somewhat puzzled: "What can I do for you, brother?"
"I’m a bit curious why we can’t continue past this wooden bridge?" Ye Tianchen asked directly.
"This is for everyone’s safety, of course, as well as my own!" the guide replied candidly.
"Safety? It seems this wooden bridge isn’t very safe either. A suspended wooden bridge that you erected yourselves, unlike government projects, might collapse any time, costing lives!" Ye Tianchen stated seriously.
"Haha, it depends. If this bridge collapses, we’d fall down the bottomless abyss, and no one would survive. There wouldn’t be any rescue, and the government, instead of aiding, would cover it up!" the guide laughed and shook his head.
"Why?" Ye Tianchen frowned and asked.
"Brother, are you truly curious? Do you really want to know?" The guide responded, questioning Ye Tianchen.
"Yes!" Ye Tianchen nodded.
"Alright then, I’ve got nothing else to do, so I might as well tell you!" the guide thought for a moment before agreeing.
It turned out the wooden bridge Ye Tianchen and the others were standing on wasn’t constructed by the locals. To be precise, they didn’t build the foundation; they merely nailed some sturdy wooden planks on top afterwards and occasionally brought tourists here to earn some fees. The original foundation was a government project.
Years ago, intending to construct bridges from Taiyi Mountain’s main peak, stretching out to four different and untouched peaks, the government planned to develop Zhongnan Mountain into a tourist destination with a series of mountain-to-mountain bridges. The government had approved and allocated large funds for this development plan many years ago.
However, as the government began implementing the plan, starting from Taiyi Mountain’s main peak and extending the stone plates, mysterious occurrences took place at the thousand-meter mark, where strong winds began blowing, sweeping workers off the abyss. Curiously, wind wasn’t felt within the thousand-meter stretch but was overwhelmingly strong just beyond, impossible for humans to withstand!
"Such strange occurrences?" Ye Tianchen frowned and asked.
"Indeed, everyone felt something was amiss. People wondered whether it was some supernatural disruption. The government even dispatched helicopters to investigate from above, but found nothing but a bottomless chasm. It was too bizarre!" The guide said, frowning puzzledly.
"So, did the matter just end unresolved, and the government gave up?" Ye Tianchen asked.
"Yes, despite numerous attempts, it was impossible to advance beyond the thousand meters. Anyone stepping out would face the overwhelming winds, only to plummet to their death. Consequently, the government withdrew the plan and destroyed the previous infrastructure here. However, the foundations remain, and we’ve nailed wooden boards on top for some extra income, as long as you remember not to venture beyond a thousand meters, it’s fine!" The guide said, openly.
Ye Tianchen frowned, glancing at the front where, though the wooden planks extended further, the path was shrouded in dense fog. Instinctively probing with his strong Divine Thought, Ye Tianchen was surprised to find that even his powerful Divine Thought couldn’t penetrate the fog, which intrigued him. What lies ahead that causes winds to rise without reason, blocking everyone? Surely, there’s more to this!
After considering for a moment, the guide urged everyone to leave—this place was eerie, and he dared not linger. After taking one last gaze at the front, Ye Tianchen didn’t act immediately but instead followed the guide back to Taiyi Mountain’s peak. The guide meticulously locked the moss-covered door, worrying others would sneak in, risking lives. Will Ye Tianchen go to investigate further? (To be continued.
