Summit Farmer-Chapter 57 - Seeing Sophia Again
57: Chapter 57: Seeing Sophia Again
57 -57: Seeing Sophia Again
With everyone in a rather good mood, they returned to the city, as the ordeal had come to a satisfying end.
At this point, no one dared to look down on Peter, the young man, anymore.
“Peter, if it wasn’t for you this time, I would have fallen here.
I, Hugo Stanley, will always remember your life-saving grace!”
The middle-aged man rescued by Peter from the entanglement of tree roots sincerely showed his gratitude with a salute.
“Don’t be so formal, Hugo.
We went out together, saving someone is just the right thing to do.”
Peter responded with a smile.
“I won’t say anything more about gratitude.
I only know that you saved my life.”
“Peter, I also want to thank you for saving me.
Without you, I might have died.”
The young man who had been poisoned was overwhelmed with gratitude.
If it weren’t for Peter’s incredible skills, the poison from the tree would have taken his life.
“You’re welcome, you’re welcome.
The poison has been removed from your system, so you only need a few days of rest.”
“I, Harper Richardson, am also indebted to you for saving my life, just like Hugo!”
Only after chatting with everyone did Peter enter the room specially prepared for him.
After taking a bath, Peter couldn’t help but wince as he went through and cleaned his belongings.
He had used up all of his jade tablets and jade talismans in order to get rid of the ghosts and the tree spirit, and those items had cost him money.
Looks like he needs to buy more jade!
Sitting cross-legged on the bed, Peter quickly entered a state of cultivation.
Although there was not much spiritual energy, cultivating had to be a continuous effort, and Peter was always diligent in this regard.
The next morning, Peter had nothing planned, so after eating breakfast, he headed to the Herb Market.
Peter remembered that there seemed to be a jade wholesale market near the Herb Market, and he wanted to see if he could replenish some jade tablets.
With some money still on hand, he could purchase some more, as he might need many jade tablets in the future.
“Peter!
Peter!”
Turning his head, Peter saw Sophia Gibson calling out to him and smiled, “Morning!”
Today, Sophia was dressed in a short skirt, her hair tied up in a ponytail, and she looked quite stunning.
“Wow, I thought it was you.
It looks like you didn’t leave.
Did you avoid us on purpose?”
At that moment, Professor Smith approached with a group of students and, upon seeing Peter, said with a smile, “There you are, Peter!
I was just looking for you.
I heard from Sophia that you had left, but did you change your mind and stay?”
Peter noticed an unhappy-looking Jalen Carter following right behind Sophia.
“Oh, Professor Smith, I was planning on going home, but something came up last minute, so I stayed.
I plan to leave today.”
“Come talk with us for a bit, we analyzed the vegetables you gave us last time.”
Peter gave Jalen a quick glance.
Feeling that Peter was looking at him, Jalen snorted in response.
Peter chuckled in his mind.
Seems like the little guy really considers him a rival now.
Ignoring Jalen and not wanting to discuss the vegetables with Professor Smith much longer, Peter knew he couldn’t provide any clear answers about the matter, and said, “Maybe another time.
I have to go to the Jade Market to buy some things.”
Sophia laughed.
“What a coincidence!
It’s our last day today, and we were planning to visit the Jade Market as well.
The main Jade Market isn’t very good, so we’re going to the Gemstone Gambling Venue.
The place is great, and everyone wants to try their luck.
Are you not buying jade anymore?”
As her interest in her former classmate grew, Sophia couldn’t help but be intrigued by the enigmatic Peter.
Given Sophia’s insistence, Peter could only sigh that he had left the house too early and reluctantly agreed, “Alright, let’s go together.”
“That’s better!”
Her laughter grew, while Peter noticed Jalen’s face growing even darker.
Damn it!
Seeing Jalen like this, Peter’s heart wasn’t too happy either.
Seeing Sophia carrying a backpack, Peter offered, “Let me carry that for you.”
“How thoughtful, my old classmate!”
Sophia was even more pleased.
Jalen, on the other hand, glared at Peter, his eyes cold as ice.
“So, you’re a college student now.
Have you been in any relationships?” Peter asked intentionally.
Jalen’s expression instantly turned serious, Peter took one look, smiled secretly, and chuckled to himself.
“Why are you asking?” Sophia’s face turned red.
“Just curious.
I heard that all college students are in relationships.
Seems like you are as well.
What a pity!”
“What’s there to pity?”
“I wanted to give chase, but there’s no opportunity now!”
Peter pretended to sigh.
Glaring at Peter, Sophia said, “I don’t discriminate against anyone.
Everyone has a chance, you know.
Do you want to think it over?
I can give you a chance.”
Feigning amazement, Peter asked, “Really?
Can I really start pursuing you then?”
“Go ahead!”
Sophia had never found Peter this fun to talk to.
With Peter making her laugh, they continued walking side by side.
Shaking his head, Professor Smith said, “Ah, you young people!”
As they talked, the group hailed a cab and headed to the Gemstone Gambling Venue.
“Professor Smith, please get in the car.”
When hailing a car, Peter let Professor Smith sit in the front seat first, then let Sophia sit in the back.
After he got in the back, he closed the car door, and the car drove off.
Jalen, who had been following Sophia, wanted to get in the car as well, but it drove off before he could.
He stomped his foot and snorted.
Jalen’s hatred for Peter had grown even more intense.
It turned out that both Jalen and Sophia were from Sunshine Province.
When Jalen first saw Sophia, he set his sights on her.
Considering the strength of his family and the fact that they were from the same hometown, Jalen thought it would be easy to capture her heart.
However, he hadn’t expected Sophia to end up with Peter instead, marking him as a rival.
Having learned about Peter’s background from Sophia yesterday, Jalen discovered that Peter was actually from a poor farming family living in an impoverished village.
This gave Jalen a sense of superiority.
But Peter’s conversation with Sophia today jokingly referencing pursuing Sophia made Jalen’s hatred for Peter grow exponentially.
“If I don’t take you down, Peter, I won’t consider myself a Carter!”
Stamping his foot, Jalen hailed a taxi and chased after them.
