Suddenly, I Am Rich-Chapter 341: A Good Move
"This is ridiculous," Gray made a disgusted face as he stared at his phone.
Currently, he was in his bedroom, inside his condo unit. It was Saturday, so he didn’t have any work to do. He should be resting now and slacking all day. However, instead, he was here, thinking of what to post on his social media account.
He thought to post just one, but thinking about it was already hard. He was disgusted by it, even.
"But oh well, I got no choice," he muttered under his breath.
In his notes app, he typed words carefully. He chose words that were neutral but warm and positive enough to satisfy Alistair.
He wrote words about knowing Alistair for a few months, about not believing the words online if there’s no evidence, and about trusting due process and hoping people would keep an open mind now that everything was still unclear.
Once he was done with it, he read his words again. It makes him look like he was just uncertain about things, but he wrote it in a positive note that would make it seem like he was supportive of Alistair at first read
"I think this should be fine," he said quietly as he hovered now to his social media account. He copied and pasted the words and posted them afterward. He made a face as it uploaded.
"Done."
Gray threw his phone at the side bed and stared at the ceiling. He already knew what would happen next. He would surely get a mix of reactions. Maybe praises from Alistair’s supporters and judgment from those not.
Not even a minute later, his phone was already vibrating from notifications. The screen lit up, and in there, he saw the list of comments starting to roll in. It started as positive at first, but as more time passed, a few hateful comments appeared here and there.
’So this is what it feels like,’ he thought flatly as he saw the ongoing flash of comments on his lock screen.
It was his first time doing such a thing.
’But this is better,’ he muttered a moment after. A sly smile crossed his face.
Of course, he didn’t do this blindly. After talking to Alistair yesterday, he has picked up a thing or two from his words. Who would have thought that he could actually learn something from that man?
The comments pouring in had actually made the next part easier for him.
After waiting for more, Gray decided to open his phone again. He switched apps and opened a secure contact list. His expression did not change as he typed out a short message. He got this from Selina. And if it’s from Selina, he knew that it can be trusted with no doubts.
In his message, he has instructions clearly. The people on the inner end should flood his post with nasty comments. Nasty enough to make the sour atmosphere, and make the other people who would follow him in posting support, scared.
For sure, this would leave an impact not just on Alistair, but on all those people. After all, reputation was often linked to a businessman’s business, so they would surely double-think now.
He was also planning to remove the post by the end of the day. He would just leave it enough for Alistair’s party to see and know the comments.
Once he sent the message, he set the phone down again and stood up.
"Now after those hateful comments, they would surely not ask again." He muttered, and the sly smile on his face became wider.
If his page became a mess, Alistair would surely not dare suggest another post. With it, Gray could live in peace.
Not just a few moments left, and he saw his phone lighting up again. He saw the flood of comments in his lock screen, and now the number of it was more aggressive than ever.
When he saw that, a humorless laugh escaped his lips.
"Good," he murmured.
He turned away and left his room.
"I’ll deal with that later," he said under his breath. He had done what he needed to do. And for now, he was done with it.
The moment he stepped into the living area, loud voices reached his ears.
"Brotherr!!!!!"
Small footsteps rushed across the floor. Before Gray could even fully process it, Lily wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly like she always did.
"You’re finally up!" she said with a bright and loud voice. She was smiling ear-to-ear as she looked at her older brother.
"You said you were going to wake up early today, but Eli and I woke up before you!"
Gray blinked and let out a small laugh. Just like that, the tension he had been carrying loosened almost instantly. He looked down at her and let out a sigh. His hand automatically came up to pat her head.
"Yeah," he said softly. "I guess your big brother was tired yesterday."
Beside her, Eli stood a little more reserved, but he was also smiling.
"Good morning, Brother Gray," Eli said. He was also not calling Gray brother.
Gray smiled at the two of them. He crouched slightly so he was closer to their level.
"Good morning to you two," he replied. "Did you two eat already?"
Lily nodded enthusiastically. "Eli helped me make toast!" she said proudly.
Eli became flushed a little at the mention of his name.
"It was just a simple toast..."
"Nothing is simple when you to make it, Eli," Gray let out a short chuckle.
For a brief moment, everything else faded for him. He had forgotten his phone and the post. For today, he just wanted to enjoy his day with the people who were important to him.
’’Right. This is why I’m doing all of this...’
Gray straightened up and rested a hand on his waist.
"Alright," he said and raised his brow, "What do you two want to do today?"
Lily’s eyes lit up immediately.
"Can we go out?"
"Yes, go out!" Eli also nodded.
Gray smiled and did not hesitate.
"Alright. Let’s go out."
