Chapter 64: Trapped and Caught

While letting out a louder scream, I pressed my eyes shut and winced to brace for the impact of my fall. To my further surprise, I never completed my fall and never hit the ground. Instead, I felt my legs being lifted up from right under me. When I opened my eyes again the whole world was upside down. My eyes widened in shock as my mouth dropped open before I let out a much louder scream than before when I realized that I was hanging upside down.

“Get away from me!” I yelled as the dog took a step toward me.

I never dreamt that I would find myself in such a scary and ridiculous situation. The dog was still there, and it looked like it was ready to chew my head off and instead of running while I had the chance, I somehow got myself trapped and ended up hanging upside down with my legs tied. I stared down at the dog as I wondered if the dog would now jump up and nip at my head.

Why is there a trap like this in his garden?

The dog began barking again and it appeared even more agitated and restless than ever before. I couldn’t even struggle in the position that I was in. All I could do was wave my arms around like a helpless fool. Since running away was no longer an option, the best option for me was to be discovered as soon as possible so that someone would help untie my feet and help me down.

“Help! Please...help me! Help me!” I screamed as loud as I could.

I could already feel my blood flowing down to my face. Instead of wishing that the dog would shut up, I wished that it would bark even louder.

“That’s it, boy! Bark louder! Tell the world that we’re here...” I yelled loudly before returning to calling for help.

Shouldn’t there be an army of guards around the house or something?

Where did all of them disappear to when I wanted to be found and needed help?

It was also so dark, I wondered if someone could find me and hear my call for help. I felt like a useless worm squirming desperately for help while hanging in the air. By that time, I somehow figured that the aggressive-looking Doberman wasn’t out to have me for dinner.

“Why am I even seeing this dog as my friend?” I muttered to myself before sucking in a deep breath.

I can’t believe that I’m doing this...

“Bradon!!! Where are you?!” I yelled at the top of my lungs.

He’s probably not even home yet...

It was still too early in the evening for him to return home. I honestly thought that I might die before he even got home or before I was discovered. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

“Help me! Bradon!” I screamed louder.

My neck started to hurt from straining to lift my face against the force of gravity pulling me down toward the ground. I started cursing him between my wild panting as I half blamed him for what was happening to me. Sure, it was my fault for trying to escape but it’s entirely his fault for having these stupid traps set up in the garden or forest around his house.

“I’m going to kill you...I swear...” I muttered as I stopped struggling to catch my breath.

I felt like I had used up all my voice by that time and the only sound ringing through the darkness was the sound of the black dog barking. Tears stung the back of my eyes and I started to sniff as I tried to hold back my tears. I squeezed my eyes shut as I wondered if I could even breathe if I started crying.

“I guess you were really bored...”

The cold and slightly mocking voice that sounded too familiar for my liking made my eyes immediately snap open. It was dark but he was close enough for me to make out his leather shoes before my eyes glanced upward to his face. The moonlight casted a very mysterious shadow on his face while lighting up some portions of his blond hair at the same time. He looked like a very attractive ghost prince, but I couldn’t care less at the time.

“Oh...You’re finally here. Help me down...please” I demanded before letting out a sigh of relief.

“Why are you out here?” he asked without making a move to help me.

“Can we save the questions for later? I’m about to faint here...” I replied while trying to keep my emotions in check so that I wouldn’t snap at him.

It did occur to me that since it was Bradon, he might not have the slight inclination to help me. It was bad enough for him to see me in such an embarrassing position. To make it worse, he seemed to enjoy staring at me while I struggled in my predicament. Bradon took another step forward so that he was standing right in front of me before he bent down a little to bring his face to my level.

“I never knew that you enjoyed being tied up like this...” he murmured before his lips curved into a teasing smirk.

For a moment, I couldn’t tell if he was being serious or if he was joking. Whatever it was, he did not make a move to untie my feet or help me down. I narrowed my eyes at him to express my dissatisfaction.

“Are you going to help me down or are you going to keep staring?” I asked.

“It looks like you’re having fun. You can stay there for a while,” he replied after staring deeply into my eyes.

Bradon looked so calm and at ease that I felt anger boiling up inside of me. I shouldn’t have called for him. If I hadn’t done that maybe I might have been lucky to have been found by one of the guards that worked for him instead. Without holding any personal grudges against me, the guard would have let me down right away instead of humiliating and tormenting me like this.
