Chapter 433: Falling for the Shadow

"I don’t know. Maybe that was part of it. Then very soon, I found out that it was actually Bradon," I said in a soft voice.

I could still vividly remember that day that I walked down the aisle in my sister’s place thinking that I was about to marry the man of my dreams. A smile tugged at the cornes of my lips when I thought that the truth wasn’t quite far from what I had in mind at that moment. That sham of a wedding truly did lead me to eventually marry the man of my dreams.

"You’re not supposed to know about him..." Anthony said.

His voice sounded unusually low and dark that it sent a shiver down my spine. It was at that moment that I truly realized that Anthony probably held a grudge against his brother and me.

"I’m actually very glad that I got to know him. By that, I mean the real version of him and him as a person while he wasn’t just taking you place," I replied before giving Anthony a pointed look.

Anthony looked surprised, and that was when I knew for certain that he had no idea that I had figured everything out. The fact that Bradon took his place multiple times in the past.

"I guess we both had the same idea, or to be more accurate, you and Diana both has the same idea. You two thought that having your look-alike sibling take your place would be the perfect idea," I said before letting out a soft lahg.

It truly was entertaining now that I thought about it. When I felt lost in a maze trying to figure everything out without knowing the outcome, I truly suffered and didn’t find it amusing at all. However, now that everything has come to light and Bradon and I have decided to get married for real, everything in the past just felt like the result of fate. In a way, I truly for an adventure.

"What do you mean by that?" Anthony asked as his brows drew together.

There was a hint of both suspicion and annoyance on his face as if I was truly stretching his boundary of patience. I wished that Bradon had told Anthony about everything that happened while he was sleeping, but it seemed like that job was left to me.

"Just like how Bradon took your place sometimes to meet up with Diana, I also took my sister’s place to meet up with you. During the swap that was arranged when we were younger, it turned out that I got to meet with your brother multiple times. Of course, each time it was under Diana’s identity," I disclosed.

"I see. When did you figure this out?" Anthony asked after a moment of pause.

"Just recently, unfortunately. The truth is, I thought that I was marrying you when I returned to the country. Even during the entire wedding, I thought Bradon was you. I had no idea that it was him," I confessed.

"But you got married willingly, isn’t that right? After all that your family did to you, there is no way that you would return back here based on your own free will even if it was to do Diana a favor. You came back here because you want to marry me, isn’t that right?" Anthony asked.

He sounded so passionate and so hopeful that I didn’t quite know how to respond at first. The fact that he was right, made it so much more difficult to talk to him. All I could do at first was nod my head slightly in acceptance.

"I thought that the man that I was in love with was you," I revealed softly.

"You thought?" Anthony asked, not missing out on the past tense that I had used.

"That’s right. I thought that it was you, but then I found out after meeting and spending time with Bradon that I was wrong," I explained.

Anthony had a very confused look on his face. I wasn’t sure if he was simply confused or if he was just finding it hard to believe. However, his reaction did not sway my resolve at all. I was already certain of what was the truth and of my own feelings for Bradon. There were no longer any doubts nor misunderstandings. If only Anthony could understand me and give us his blessing on our upcoming wedding, it would mean so much for him. More than anything, I didn’t want the rift between the two brothers to continue, especially if that conflict was because of me.

"What do you mean, exactly?" Anthony asked after a moment of pause.

"Exactly like I have said. I came back here to help my sister out and it was also because there was a very selfish part of me that wanted to marry the man I thought that I was in love with. I thought that I could lie to everyone if it gave me the chance to marry you," I continued explaining before taking a pause.

Anthony stared at me intently from his seat as he waited for me to continue. My throat felt very dry from slight nervousness. Anthony was truly putting me on the spot, and it didn’t seem like he was willing to let this matter go until I explained every single detail to him in my own words. In a way, I also believed that he deserved that much from me.

Perhaps it was his way of reminding me that I wasn’t at all free of fault and blame for fooling everyone that I was Diana. I also knew that I was far from innocent in the scheme that my parents had whipped up, and this was probably just one of the ways that I was going to pay the price.

"Then what happened? Did Bradon force you?" Anthony asked.

"It’s not like that. At first, I wanted to escape from him when I found out the truth that he wasn’t you. Then after we spent time together, I started to learn more about him..." I explained as I tried to stop my voice from shaking.
