Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 306: Fighting Over Me
The crowd chanted the king’s name while others shouted questions related to my return and my relationship with the king. Of course, none of us felt even the slightest bit obliged to respond to their questions as we made our way silently to the cars waiting to escort us out of the airport.
“I’ll take you back home,” Bradon said as he grabbed my wrist quite tightly in his hand.
I knew that he wanted us to return to his mansion, but it seemed like Desmond had other plans in mind.
“I am here to escort Dahlia back and I have decided to give her a temporary residency in the palace. She should be staying with me until she can find a place of her own,” Desmond replied as he took hold of my other wrist.
I glanced from one man to the other before heaving a loud sigh at the conflict that was clearing brewing between them. I felt like heading to the palace with the prince right now while everything was still so chaotic could spark more trouble than good. As for Desmond’s plan to stir up chaos and shock among the public, I was certain that my extravagant arrival at the airport and what had unfolded just now more than served his purpose. That meant that it wasn’t necessary for me to do anymore for the sake of our plan.
“I’ll go back with Anthony for now,” I stated my decision after a moment of thought.
It made the most sense for Dahlia to return back with Anthony where she would meet up with Diana at their place. That seemed like the most logical conclusion and plausible conclusion for the day. Desmond looked visibly disappointed with the decision that I had made but he decided to keep silent to respect my decision.
“Thank you for coming to get me, let’s talk again soon,” I told Desmond before showing him a smile.
“Let’s go,” Bradon urged impatiently as his hand gently grabbed my elbow.

I’m Dahlia now. Dahlia is finally back in the country now...
It still felt unreal that I was now back in the country as myself and that all of my past sins have been pardoned by the new king himself. As I watched the scenery pass by outside of the car window, the world started to look and feel slightly different now that I was looking at it from Dahlia’s perspective instead of my sisters. It felt strange, and yet it also felt quite relieving at the very same time. I was certain that many complicated things were awaiting me associated with my return and also Desmond’s plan; however, at that moment I couldn’t help but feel that my head was quite clear.
Although I knew that I would be taking up my role as my sister again very soon, I decided to enjoy that brief moment in the car alone with Bradon where I could simply be myself. I wondered if he realized just how comforting his offer had been when he told me to just be myself when we were alone together.
“I’m glad that everything went well today,” I said while referring to my debut back to the country at the airport.
“Are you seriously referring to that as everything going all well?” He asked with clear disbelief.
“Well, if I had to be honest I thought that things would get quite complicated and rough at first but I guess everything ended well in the end,” I replied before I turned to offer him a smile.
I couldn’t bring myself to tell him just how happy I was when he arrived at just the perfect time to save me from my troublesome predicament.
“That was an extremely risky move but I guess you already knew that. Why must you go to such things to put yourself in danger like that?” He asked and it was clear that he wasn’t at all impressed with the decision that I had made.
I didn’t think that the situation would get that dangerous or risky either when I first agreed to Desmond’s plan. However, I had already made up my mind and it was already too late for me to turn back or regret my actions. It felt that all I could do was to keep on pushing forward with unwavering determination until I reached my goals.
What a do or die situation...
“What needs to be done, needs to be done. Well, since you turned up when you did, you managed to save me. Thank you for that,” I thanked him sincerely.
“You might not be so lucky next time,” he said with clear warning.
Despite the darkness of his tone, I felt quite differently.
“I don’t know, but it just feels like you’ll always be there to help me,” I said before flashing him a smile.
Thankfully, I managed to stop myself from saying anymore. I bit on my tongue slightly when I realized that I almost thanked him for saving me, and I also almost told him that it felt like I could rely on him whenever I was in need.
...
Surprisingly, when we arrived back at his mansion, Brandon decided to walk me all the way to my bedroom. It felt like he had something that he wanted to say but he was having trouble saying it. While I had to say that I wasn’t exactly looking forward to any more of his lectures, I couldn’t find myself to stop him from following me. Perhaps I was a part of me that felt like I deserved to hear an earful of his complaints. It felt like the least that he could do to punish me for my rash actions from before. After all, he did go to the trouble of acting as Anthony to pick me up from the airport. His presence did draw the attention of the crowd and calm them down much better than I could have hoped for. Bradon opened the door for me before gesturing for me to step inside. To my surprise, he followed me into my bedroom before closing and locking the door behind us.
“You’re not allowed to move to live in the palace,” Bradon stated firmly, leaving no room for any argument.
Honestly, I had never considered moving into the palace to live with Desmond, so I wasn’t sure how Bradon arrived at that outrageous conclusion.
