Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 220: Princess Dahlia
If anything, they surely hoped that I had slept with the prince even though they knew very well that there was no way that he could ever become their future son-in-law.
“Dahlia...” Diana called my name as I felt her grab my hand.
“Diana...” I murmured her name as my eyes focused on her face.
Before I could react any further, her hold on my hand tightened and then she was running while dragging me behind her up the stairs. She locked the door to my bedroom after pushing me inside.
“What happened? Did you really have sex with Prince Desmond?” my sister asked excitedly.
“No...” I denied before rolling my eyes at her.
“Ahh...really?” she said while frowning with disappointment.
“Really. Nothing happened. We just played this game and talked...” I reaffirmed before letting out a sigh.
“Awww...you can’t be serious. I was going to ask if he was any good in bed...” Diana moaned with regret before flinging herself face first onto my bed.
“Why do you have to sound so disappointed? Did you really think that I was just going to have sex with him?” I said as I rolled my eyes upwards again.
“Prince Desmond is hot and handsome. He’s also the crown prince, in case you’ve forgotten. Here I thought that I might get the prince as my brother-in-law...” she said before she began kicking her legs on the bed like a girl having an uncontrollable tantrum.
“Not you too, Diana. This is so stupid...” I muttered darkly.
Diana suddenly sat up on the bed and looked right at me before she shook her head from side to side and clicked her tongue.
“Listen, it’s just like I told you before. We’re going to have to lose our virginity sooner or later anyways. Wouldn’t it be great if your first was none other than the prince?” she suggested with widened eyes.
“No. Stop. Don’t even think about it. We just randomly ran into each other and started talking. Nothing more and nothing less. Don’t think about it and don’t you dare get your hopes up about anything because something like this isn’t going to happen again,” I said firmly.
“How do you know that?” she asked as she turned her face slightly to the side to show her distrust in what I was telling her.
“I’m not going to see him again, that’s why,” I replied.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that if I were you. This is really the best!” Diana exclaimed as she pulled me into a hug.
“Stop this. I have no idea what you’re going on and on about,” I said as I untangled her arms from around my body.
“This is going to surprise everyone as well as piss our parents off so much. I’m sure they have no idea how to react or what to do right now,” Diana said before laughing mischievously.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I complained as I felt my temples throb.
“Just think about it for a second. Our parents decided to marry me off to the heir of the Vulkan family probably because they didn’t think that there was any real chance that I could end up marrying the prince. Then suddenly one random night, their second daughter ends up spending the night with the crown prince?” she said as her eyes lit up.
I started to see and understand what she was so pumped up about; however, reality was very different from what her wild imagination had conjured up in her mind.
“Stop your useless fantasizing,” I warned her sternly.
“They’re going to have to treat you so nicely now even if they don’t like it. Actually, everyone is going to have to be nice to you now. You see, you’re the prince’s girl now! You’re going to be like Princess Dahlia or something like that,” Diana declared before looking at me with a look filled with pride.
“Nothing of the sort will ever happen. I just told you, Dina. I’m not going to see him ever again...” I repeated stubbornly.
“I’ll make a bet with you right now with my life on the line that you’re wrong about that,” she said with confidence.
“I’m tired. I need to sleep. Get out of my room if you’re done with your nonsensical blabbing,” I said as I pulled her up from my bed.
It wasn’t long after that that I found out that Diana wasn’t a fool to make a random bet with her life on the line. The next time that the prince invited me to play the game with him, I wasn’t even surprised to find rainbow colored pieces just as I had requested. After that, the prince invited me to the palace to see him time and time again. However, no matter how hard I tried or how many games we played, I never once managed to beat the prince.
...
**Back to the Present**
I found myself smiling back at him easily when I heard the prince wishing me what sounded like a very warm welcome back. It suddenly crossed my mind that perhaps returning to the country wasn’t so bad after all. Funnily enough my thoughts returned to Bradon and I wondered if he was still waiting for me right on the other side of the door.
“Maybe it’s not so bad to be back...” I replied softly.
“I guess that depends on what you decide to do and what you make of your return. I have to say that I didn’t expect your sister to escape from her long-planned wedding and neither did I expect that you would turn up in her place instead,” the prince said before grinning at me.
I missed how he would grin at me like that. I casted my eyes downwards as I silently agreed with him that what I did was unexpected even for me. On top of that, I agreed with him even more that how my future would turn out would depend on what I tried to make of it. Unlike before where everything just seemed uncontrollable and out of my hands, this time, I might be able to carve my own path.
