Chapter 165: The Prince’s Intervention

Dreading the arrival of that moment, I ended up taking a very long time in the bath while listening to the sound of the door opening to announce his arrival. At first, I didn’t want to face him but when it took such a long time for him to return to our bedroom, I started to wonder where he went.

“This is so stupid...” I mumbled to myself before letting out a sigh.

The water in the tub was no longer warm and I had gotten quite bored. Just as I climbed out of the bathtub, I heard a few knocks on the door.

...Bradon?

I wrapped a towel quickly around my body and headed out of the bathroom. Since Bradon would never knock on our bedroom door like that, I knew that my first reaction in thinking that it was him was definitely incorrect.

“Who is it?” I called out questioningly as I approached the bedroom door.

“It’s me...” a man’s voice replied.

“Zain?” I replied, after recognizing his voice.

“Yes, My Lady...” he replied.

“I’m...I can’t open the door right now. Do you need something?” I asked.

“It’s fine, My Lady. I’m just here to inform you that Master Bradon has some matters to attend to and that you don’t need to wait up for him,” Zain said politely.

“Did Bradon tell you to tell me that?” I asked as I wondered what was going on.

We were on our honeymoon and on a private island, so what kind of matters did he need to attend to?

“Yes. Please have a good evening,” Zain said.

Suddenly, it was silent on the other side of the door and I figured that Zain had already taken his leave. It seemed like all my worries were for nothing at all. Facing Bradon wouldn’t be a problem, at least, not for tonight. I thought that I would feel relieved, but instead, another kind of uneasy feeling filled my chest instead.

What made him think that I would wait up for him anyways?

...

**Bradon’s point of view**

The director and members of the filming crew seemed pretty confused by the way that Dahlia acted. It probably wasn’t very like Diana to suddenly stalk off like that. Dahlia mentioned that she was feeling unwell and from the look on her face, I wouldn’t say that she was completely lying. After watching the short clip of the scene that the team had just filmed of us, Dahlia’s demeanor suddenly changed. She looked worried and then she had a very conflicted look on her face. I could tell that something was wrong but I also knew that she wasn’t about to talk about it with me right in front of everyone. Pushing her seemed useless so all I could do was stay behind to repair the damages of her actions after I watched her walk away.

“I’m sorry about that. I think my wife is really tired from the flight. The weather here is also quite hot and the sun probably got to her,” I said before showing everyone an apologetic smile.

It was something that Anthony would have done and I had gotten used to smoothing things over by that time. I volunteered to help the team pack up for the day out of goodwill but there was honestly very little that I could do given how expensive most of their equipment was.

“We’re good for today. Thank you so much for offering to help, Anthony,” the director thanked me with a smile.

“That’s not a problem. Since Diana isn’t feeling so well, I was wondering if we could cut some of the scenes tomorrow short?” I asked while trying to sound pleasant.

Maybe Dahlia’s sudden fit served as the perfect excuse for us to act out fewers scenes the following day. The director looked indecisive for a moment but I could tell that he was hell-bent on making us stick with the original plan. I kept a smile on my lips as I thought of a few entertaining ways that I could make the man simply disappear. Unfortunately, Dahlia cared so much about making sure that everything on this honeymoon trip progressed smoothly without trouble.

“Let’s try our best tomorrow. Of course, if Lady Diana gets too tired we can make changes as we go along,” he said before nodding briefly at me.

“Thank you...” I replied while trying to keep the atmosphere friendly between us.

Dahlia must be in our room already and I should follow her soon to check up on her. For some reason, I didn’t quite like the idea of Dahlia being alone. It might be because we were far from home, and therefore, out of my territory. Things could easily get out of control and that was why I brought along more than a few too many men.

I was almost at the villa’s entrance when my phone started vibrating. One look at the caller ID and I knew that I had no choice but to take this phone call.

“Your Highness...” I greeted the prince formally.

“Are you enjoying your honeymoon?” The familiar voice of the prince asked.

I could tell that he was having good fun teasing me for having to go on this trip. If our families thought that they could keep any secrets from the crown prince of the kingdom, they were only just fooling themselves. Prince Desmond was very well aware of the fact that I had taken my brother’s place.

“How can I be of service?” I asked in return while ignoring his irrelevant question.

“So, I take it that you’re enjoying your honeymoon,” he said without hiding his excitement.

“I am here in my brother’s place. This is just one of the responsibilities that comes with...” I began explaining what I thought the prince already knew so well.

“Yes, whatever you say. I have to say that I still feel bad for doing this to you when you’re out there enjoying your honeymoon but...something has turned up...” the prince said and suddenly his tone was serious.

“What is it?” I asked as everything seemed to fade into the background for me.
