Chapter 163: Momentary Spell

I was still too astonished to say anything. The staff murmured a little at the unexpected disagreement that had erupted between Bradon and the director. The poor director struggled a little with himself before clapping his hands together to get everyone’s attention.

“Let’s wrap up here for this scene and let’s head over there to shoot the next scene,” the director instructed.

I smiled a little at Bradon when I caught him watching me. It was my way of thanking him silently for helping me and getting me out of this one. After changing my outfit and letting the stylist have their way with my hair, I was ready to rejoin Bradon on the beach. By that time, the wind had really picked up and the sky was completely dark. The stars twinkled so brightly in the sky that I couldn’t help but gaze up at them.

“You like the stars?” Bradon asked from close to my side.

I hadn’t realized that he was standing so close until I heard his voice. The stars shining up above must have captured my attention and for a moment, I was oblivious to my surroundings.

“It’s not usual to see so many stars like this in the city. I mean, I know that they’re there all the time but the city lights make it impossible for us to see most of them...” I replied as I continued looking up at the night sky.

“Can you identify any of the stars up there?” he asked.

“To be honest, not at all. I don’t know anything about the constellation. I just like stargazing because they’re so pretty when they sparkle and that’s just about it,” I replied before shifting my gaze to his face and offering him a smile.

Now that we were no longer under the constant gaze of the director and his crew members, it felt very easy to talk to Bradon. At the same time, Bradon felt more approachable and easy to converse with. I also didn’t miss the fact that he was the one who started the conversation with me. The wind felt stronger than before as it blew my hair and caused the hem of my dress to flutter. The hot temperature had dropped and the atmosphere felt very pleasant to the point that I could feel the romance in the air even though I wanted to desperately ignore it. Whoever chose this shooting location truly did their homework very well.

“Hmm...let’s see. That over there is the Big Dipper. It is part of the Ursa Major constellation, more commonly known as The Great Bear,” Bradon said as he pointed up into the sky.

I tried my best to identify the stars that he was referring to but it was difficult given how many stars were visible in the night sky. A part of me wasn’t actually interested in figuring out where The Great Bear was because my attention had shifted to the man standing very close next to me.

“If there’s a big bear, does that mean that there’s a small bear?” I asked.

“There is. The Ursa Minor constellation is called The Little Bear,” he replied.

“Can you find it? The little bear...” I asked.

Bradon probably didn’t realize as he looked up at the night sky in search of the stars that I no longer had my eyes on the stars. I was too absorbed by his attractive face that now had a look of genuine interest on it. His features were more relaxed and so was the air around him. Given how stressful things were for us and how cold and unapproachable he seemed since the start of our trip, this was a good change. Perhaps it was because these instances were quite rare that I found myself so drawn to the version that he was at that moment. They do say that the rarer things are, the more precious they are as well.

“The Litter Bear is over there,” he said with some excitement as he pointed up into the sky.

I was too busy staring at his face to even pay attention to wherever it was or whatever it was that he was pointing at. After having seen Bradon in so many versions and modes of himself, I had started wondering what he was really like as a person. Which version was the one that was closest to his true nature. Various curious thoughts filled my mind as I kept my eyes on his upturned face.

“Where is it?” I asked after snapping out of my own thoughts.

Instead of explaining to me in words, Bradon took my hand and guided it upward towards the sky. My eyes widened as my heart skipped a beat in my chest at his touch. Although I knew that I was supposed to be following the direction of my hand with my eyes, I ended up staring at his face instead.

“The Little Bear is over there,” he said softly to me.

The tightness that I experienced in my chest made me want to pull my hand away from his. My body didn’t do what I wanted or maybe I was just confused about what I truly wanted. For a moment, I didn’t know what was really going on anymore. He had just taken my hand to show me the stars that I asked him to point out to me. I knew that so I didn’t understand the way I was reacting like this was some big deal.

“Pay attention, Diana...” he whispered close to my ear.

When I snapped out of my thoughts, I found Bradon’s face very close to mine. The teasing little smirk that he had on his lip made me feel like he had caught me in the middle of some indecent act. He called me Diana and then it felt like some kind of spell that tied us together had been broken.

“Cut! Perfect! Amazing! That was exactly what I wanted. No, it’s even better. So romantic and so natural. Thank you so much everyone. Finally, we can call it a day and get some rest,” the director declared loudly.

“Huh?” I murmured in shock.
