Chapter 1280: Chapter 1280: Two Young Men Draw Swords Over Her

Freddy never liked Miles Linden. He’s the student council president, with a great family background, excellent grades, a fantastic basketball player, sunny and handsome. Before Miles came, the girls mostly talked about him, but after Miles arrived, everyone was talking about Miles.

Freddy wasn’t someone who couldn’t accept losing. If he lost to someone better than himself, it would have been fine. But losing to Miles? He couldn’t accept it at all.

"Willow, is that Miles Linden really that handsome?" Freddy asked Willow Crawford.

Willow had also noticed Miles’s allure to the girls. Every move he made was watched. Hannah Alden liked him, and many outstanding girls were also watching him to some extent.

She couldn’t quite articulate exactly what made Miles so attractive, but this allure was something even she couldn’t resist.

But is there even a need to ask if Miles is handsome?

Willow nodded, straightforwardly saying, "He is indeed handsome."

"..." Freddy wanted comfort from Willow, but who knew Willow would so harshly stab at his heart.

Just then, the teacher in charge brought up two boxes of bottled water and said to Willow, "Willow, could you please distribute these bottles of water, one per person?"

Willow got up, "Sure."

Willow began distributing the bottled water, from the front to the back, and soon she reached the back where Miles Linden and Zachary were seated.

"Thank you, Willow the Campus Belle." Zachary received his water.

Willow glanced at Miles, who sat by the window. His baseball cap was pulled low, showing only his handsomely defined jawline. He was truly good-looking, no wonder those girls liked him.

He seemed unconcerned about her presence, still maintaining his posture without moving, sleeping.

Whether or not he was actually asleep, his attitude toward her was always unpleasant and cold. Willow still disliked him and had no intention of talking to someone she found so disagreeable.

Willow handed the bottled water to Zachary. "Could you please pass this along?"

What was going on? Zachary’s gaze shifted between Miles and Willow. Could it be they were fighting?

"Sure." Zachary received the water promptly.

Willow turned and walked back to her seat.

But just then, the driver suddenly made a turn. Due to inertia, Willow momentarily lost her balance and fell forward.

Ah.

Willow let out a soft gasp.

She thought she would fall, but suddenly an arm, strong and steady, reached out from behind, grasping her slender waist and tugging gently. Willow immediately fell into someone’s embrace.

Willow looked up in surprise and collided with a handsome face. It was Miles.

Now she was sitting on his lap, his arm still wrapped around her waist.

Boom.

Willow’s mind erupted. She had never sat on a guy’s lap before, this was her first time.

He had apparently opened his eyes at some point, slightly raising his head. Beneath his cap, his long, almond-shaped eyes were fixed on her radiant face, looking directly at her.

Their posture was ambiguous, their breathing intertwined.

Time passed slowly, and Willow was the first to react. She immediately got up.

Miles let go of his arm.

Willow quickly returned to her seat.

The sharp turn had given everyone quite a scare, and with Miles seated at the back, no one had noticed what just happened.

"Hey, Willow, why is your face so red?" Freddy suddenly asked.

Willow’s face was bright red, like a cooked prawn, and her heartbeat was erratic, pounding away out of rhythm.

"I’m fine, maybe it’s just too hot." Willow told a small lie. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Freddy didn’t say anything further.

Willow looked out the window. She could still feel the lingering strength of his arm on her waist, steady and firm. Sitting on his lap, the boy was all muscle, and her behind felt a bit sore.

Willow quickly closed her eyes, forcing herself to forget the beautiful thoughts she had. He had just been with Hannah Alden last night; she should think of him as filthy.

She didn’t want him to touch her!

...

An hour later, the school bus stopped at Mount Vermilion, and everyone got off.

Miles also came down, and Zachary noticed something unusual about him. "Miles, are you okay? Your body’s hot. Do you have a fever?"

Miles had noticed his rising temperature when his eyes were closed on the bus. He was likely running a fever.

He was still just a young man. After being plied with alcohol by Ethan Barnes, he had mishandled it and had been tormenting himself all night, leading to a fever now.

"Miles, everyone’s starting the hike. If you’re feeling unwell, we can just sit here and rest," Zachary suggested with concern.

Miles looked ahead. Willow was surrounded by Freddy and Rachel Underwood, with Freddy offering to carry the water. "Willow, you go ahead and hike, if you get too tired to walk later, I’ll carry you."

Rachel teased with a smile, "Our Senior Freddy is athletic and strong. Willow, you should let him carry you later!"

Willow curved her lips slightly. "Alright, stop it. Let’s hike."

"Got it."

The group followed Willow and started ascending the mountain en masse.

Watching Willow’s figure disappear from his view, Miles frowned slightly.

By noon, Willow had reached the mountain’s peak. Standing at the top, she could overlook everything else, her mood improving along with the expansive view.

Willow put her small hand to her mouth and yelled, "Ah!"

"Willow, come over here quickly, there’s a water source here! You have to see this!" Rachel shouted from ahead.

Willow was about to go over when she accidentally stepped on a stone and twisted her ankle.

Hiss.

An intense pain immediately shot through her ankle.

"Willow, did you twist your ankle? Come on, let me carry you," Freddy thought his opportunity had finally arrived.

"No need. I’ll try to walk on my own." Willow didn’t want Freddy to carry her.

Freddy stepped over and grabbed Willow’s slender wrist. "Willow, don’t be so modest. Come on, let me give you a lift."

Willow furrowed her pretty brows slightly. She wasn’t used to physical contact with men and felt quite uncomfortable with Freddy holding her like this.

She hadn’t had much contact with guys, except for... Miles.

"Senior, please let go!" Willow tried to pull back her wrist.

But Freddy didn’t want to let go. "Willow..."

Then a cool, magnetic voice broke through. "She told you to let go. Are you deaf?"

Willow looked up and saw Miles.

Miles had also reached the peak; he was here.

Now Miles stood with his hands in his pockets. His long, narrow eyes glanced at Freddy’s hand. Though his gaze was indifferent, Freddy felt like his hand was riddled with bloody holes.

"Miles, why are you here? This is between Willow and me. It’s none of your business!" Freddy looked at Miles with hostility.

Miles slowly narrowed his eyes. The two young men became taut with tension over Willow, the atmosphere thick with impending conflict.
