Submitting to My Best Friend's Dad-Chapter 905 : A Touching Moment
*Bianca*
A crashing sound ripped me away from my restless sleep. My eyes blinked open and as I left my dream state, I realized the crashing sound that woke me was actually someone pounding heavily on the door. My exhaustion quickly turned to irritation.
The pounding wasn’t letting up, either. I quickly stumbled out of bed and frantically searched for proper clothes to put on. Within a few seconds, I dressed in a pair of yoga pants and an oversized t-shirt.
As I made my way, rather loudly, down towards the front door, it took everything inside me not to pound on Leo’s door and make him answer it. When I swung the front door open, I glared blindly at whoever the incredibly annoying person was.
“Franky,” I stared, wide eyed.
“Took you long enough,” he huffed. “Where’s Leo?”
“Well, excuse me,” I snapped. “Do you realize what time it is and, on a Saturday, at that?”
Without saying another word to me, Franky bulldozed his way through the door frame.
“Leo!” he yelled out.
He yelled out to no one, seeing as Leo was probably still asleep in his office, but he didn’t know that.
“Where is he?” Franky demanded.
“Probably in his office,” I replied in an annoyed tone, crossing my arms over my chest.
I followed Franky up the staircase and towards Leo’s office. He pushed open the door abruptly. There was Leo. His face plastered to his desk with his arms sprawled out around him. Asleep.
Seeing Leo like that caused an abundance of guilt to creep inside me. The memories of our fight last night made me wince. The words I said to him. The way I treated him. It was all out of anger. An impulse burst of bottled-up emotions.
I felt terrible.
Franky threw a stack of files he had been clutching in his hand on top of Leo’s still body.
“I don’t know what is going on here, but Leo needs to get his ass up and come with me,” Franky demanded. “Now!”
I nodded my head without taking my eyes off of Leo. Franky left the office to wait for him to get up and make himself decent enough to leave the house. I walked over to Leo and gingerly placed my hand on his shoulder.
“Leo,” I spoke quietly in his ear. “Leo, wake up.”
I slightly put pressure onto his arm, trying to move his body just enough to wake him up. Finally, his eyes had begun to blink open.
“Bianca?” He replied in his sleepy voice.
A voice I had grown to love.
“Hey, so, Franky is here,” I told him softly. “He’s waiting for you downstairs.”
“Bianca, I’m sorry for last night,” he began to mumble. “I shouldn’t have said those things.”
“Shh. Let’s just get you up and showered quickly for right now, all right?” I said.
I wanted for us to apologize to each other, but I was afraid Franky would come bursting back into the room at any moment.
As I got Leo to stand up, I snuck a peek at the files Franky had thrown onto him. From the little bit I could see, it looked like Michael had been sabotaging their work.
Great, I sighed to myself. I bet that was why Leo never wanted to talk about the Michael situation with me. It clearly wasn’t going well.
Now I felt even worse for the things I said in our fight last night.
I wrapped my arms around Leo’s torso as we walked towards our room. He leaned against the sink, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as I turned the shower on. Slowly, Leo began to take his sweatpants and shirt off.
Out of habit, my eyes found his beautifully sculpted body. I fought the urge to trace the lines of his abs with the tips of my fingers. I looked away and held my hand out under the water, checking to see if it was hot enough yet.
“Get in with me?” Leo asked quietly, lifting my chin up towards him with his fingers.
I smiled softly, nodding my head. “Of course.”
As Leo stepped in the shower, I stripped away all of my clothing. Leo welcomed me into his arms as the hot water rained down on us. It felt good to be held by him, again. It felt good to feel his body so close to mine.
I felt like we hadn’t had a moment like this in so long. Too long.
“I’m so sorry for last night,” he said, again.
He held me tightly, resting his chin on the top of my head.
“I’m sorry too,” I said in a soft voice. “I didn’t mean any of the things I said.”
Tears had begun to build, sobs threatening to break free. I wasn’t sure if it was from the hormones, but I had all of sudden felt extremely emotional.
“I have a confession to make,” he said.
Leo pulled away from me a little, enough for him to meet my eyes.
“Alright,” I replied.
“Things with Michael aren’t exactly great,” he sighed. “But I have it all under control. It’s just taking longer than I’d like.”
“I do understand,” I told him. “I’m sorry that I haven’t been more supportive.”
He shook his head, cupping my face in his hands. “It’s not for you to worry about. The reason why I never want to talk about the Michael stuff is because I don’t want to put that weight on your shoulders too. It’s not your weight, my love, it’s mine to bear alone.”
All I could do was nod. I felt the tears returning and I knew the last thing Leo needed was me breaking down in sobs.
He brought his lips to mine and pressed gently. He pulled me closer and we stood there holding each other for a moment.
If I had to be honest, all I really wanted was to remain in that moment forever. To forget all our worries.
However, I knew a certain grumpy man was waiting for Leo somewhere downstairs. I was surprised he hadn’t come looking for Leo yet.
I grabbed the soap and helped Leo lather it all over his body. Then, he washed his hair while I cleaned myself quickly. After a few moments, Leo reached down to turn the knob, stopping the rainfall of water above us.
We stepped out of the shower together, dripping water all over the floor. Leo grabbed a towel and handed it to me before he wrapped one around himself. Before we walked into the bedroom, he leaned down to kiss me.
When we got into the bedroom, I quickly grabbed a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt for Leo to put on. He thanked me and dressed quietly. I followed suit and picked out an outfit for myself.
Once we were both dressed, I grabbed the two towels from off the floor and tossed them into the hamper in the bathroom.
“Did Franky seem angry?” Leo asked.
“Oh yeah,” I replied, nodding my head. “He was a real jerk too.”
Leo chuckled half-heartedly. “That’s just Franky, babe.”
“Well, he should try being a little nicer sometimes.”
I gave Leo a smile as we headed out into the hallway. When we reached the top of the staircase Leo stopped me. He pulled me into a hug and held me tightly.
“Just in case when I get down there, Franky drags me out the door immediately. I want to make sure I get to say goodbye to you properly,” he said.
I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed. I wished he wouldn’t have had to leave. I wished we could have spent the day together.
He pulled away slightly and pressed his lips to mine. Then, he kissed my forehead before letting me go.
“I’m not sure what time I’ll be back, but I’ll try to keep you updated, all right?” he said, staring into my eyes.
At least, he seemed like he was going to try to make an effort to communicate this time.
“All right,” I replied, giving him the best smile I could manage in that moment.
We walked downstairs and found Leo standing right next to the front door.
“About goddamn time, your majesty,” Franky said, looking at Leo.
Leo scoffed. “Well, Kings are never late, isn’t that right?”
“Get your ass out the door.”
It looked as if Franky almost laughed. He opened the door and walked out first. Leo turned to me and stared at me for a brief moment.
“I love you, Bianca,” he said, holding onto the doorknob.
“I love you, Leo,” I replied, holding my hands together.
Leo closed the door behind him and I couldn’t help but feel my stomach drop. As touching as our moment had been, I felt empty and lonely the moment he was out of sight.
I went into the kitchen and grabbed the kettle from off of the stove. I filled it up with water and placed it on the hot burner. It only took about six minutes before the whistling began to break the silence.
Out of the cabinet, I grabbed a forest green mug and filled it with the boiling water. I placed a peppermint teabag inside. The sweet smell filled my nostrils. It was a calming scent. I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to clear my head.
I walked outside onto the back patio and sat down on one of the lounging chairs. The water in the pool was sparkling from the rays of the sun and for a moment I got lost in the dancing sparkles. However, it didn’t take long before my worried thoughts crept back in, making themselves known.
I still wanted to tell Leo about me being pregnant, but now I wasn’t sure how. He had so much to worry about already with Michael.
From what I could see from the files, Michael had been destroying some of the places where they conduct business. That had to be hurting their business, on top of everything else.
I wondered if Michael was sabotaging their work because Leo took down Elijah. It seemed like he was getting his revenge.
I wasn’t sure what Leo would do with the news of my pregnancy if I told him right now. It could just make things worse for him. He could end up worrying and stressing entirely too much.
Perhaps, I could wait to tell him. At least, until he took care of Michael. Although, at this rate, I wasn’t confident that that would be anytime soon. It could be months, I had thought to myself and winced.
I sipped on my tea and tried to breathe. At least, Leo and I made up from our fight last night. That was, at least, one thing I could feel better about.
I placed my hand on my stomach and leaned my head back. My eyes closed as I tried to relax.
All I could do was take it day by day from now on, I had decided.
