Chapter 814: The Best Residence

What Han Yu saw were clearly the homes of elders and high ranking disciples.

After about twenty minutes of walking, Han Yu finally saw it.

The courtyard assigned to him. It stood apart from the others. A tall blue tower rose from the center of the residence grounds. Even from a distance, Han Yu could feel the energy flowing through it.

He narrowed his eyes slightly.

"That tower..."

It was not merely decorative.

The structure clearly functioned as a node within the peak’s Ice Qi circulation network.

One of the major energy anchors of the mountain.

Which meant his residence was positioned directly on a powerful cultivation point.

Han Yu stood at the entrance of his newly assigned residence for a few moments, quietly observing the grounds before stepping inside.

The courtyard gates opened smoothly when his disciple token resonated with the defensive array, the formation recognizing the crest of the Second Kidney Peak Head embroidered on his robes.

Once he entered, the gates closed again behind him with a faint shimmer of icy blue light, restoring the protective barrier that surrounded the residence. Meng Jueyan and Xuan Qing waited behind him until he turned and activated the formation controls through his disciple token.

With a few pulses of spirit sense, he registered both women into the residence array so that they could freely pass through the gate. The defensive formation briefly scanned them before allowing access, and only then did they step into the courtyard with him.

Han Yu slowly began exploring the residence.

The first impression he had was that the place was far larger than he had expected. Compared to the small cave on the Fifth Rib Peak where he had lived for years, this new residence felt almost extravagant.

The entire property spanned roughly three hundred meters across, enclosed by high walls engraved with protective formations that faintly circulated Ice Qi throughout the perimeter.

Within those walls lay two main sections: an outer courtyard and a more private inner courtyard.

The outer courtyard occupied nearly half of the residence’s space. Several medium sized buildings stood along its sides, all neatly constructed with dark red stone and icy blue roof tiles that reflected the aesthetic of the Kidney Peak.

These structures clearly served functional purposes rather than decorative ones.

A few buildings were plainly meant for servant or slave housing, with multiple connected rooms that could easily accommodate twenty or more people.

Another large structure appeared to be a storage building, its interior filled with racks and sealed cabinets designed to hold materials safely under controlled conditions.

Near the far end of the outer courtyard stood a separate chamber that immediately caught Han Yu’s attention because of the faint alchemical aura of herbs and pills emanating from within it.

That building was clearly an alchemy chamber, complete with its own isolated ventilation arrays to prevent pill fumes from spreading through the residence. Next to it stood another spacious hall that appeared designed for multiple technical crafts.

When Han Yu entered briefly, he found workbenches equipped with formation carving tools, puppet crafting instruments, and various assembly platforms that could be used for several different disciplines.

It was a multipurpose chamber intended for formation creation, puppet construction, artifact repair, or any other craft that required a controlled workspace.

The inner courtyard, which lay beyond a smaller decorative gate deeper inside the residence, served as the primary living area. At its center stood a large mansion-like building that was far grander than anything Han Yu had previously called home.

The structure rose two stories tall and was built from pale stone veined with frost-like patterns that constantly radiated faint Ice Qi. Wide steps led to the entrance hall, and several side corridors connected to private rooms within.

Adjacent to the mansion stood another reinforced building, which Han Yu quickly realized was the main cultivation chamber of the residence. Rising directly above that chamber was the distinctive blue tower that had caught his attention from outside the courtyard.

Upon closer inspection, Han Yu realized that the tower was not merely decorative architecture. It functioned as a central node within the mountain’s Ice Qi circulation system, channeling and stabilizing energy flowing through the surrounding formations.

In other words, his residence had been built upon one of the peak’s secondary Ice Qi convergence points. That meant the cultivation chamber beneath the tower would naturally receive a steady supply of purified Ice Qi.

After briefly surveying the entire residence layout, Han Yu assigned one of the outer courtyard buildings to Meng Jueyan and Xuan Qing as their living quarters. The building itself had multiple rooms, far more than the two women needed, but the extra space did not matter.

The residence had clearly been designed to house a personal disciple who might own many servants or attendants. In comparison, having only two slaves occupy the building made the place feel almost empty.

Nevertheless, the rooms were clean, furnished with basic bedding and storage cabinets, and already equipped with simple heating formations to maintain a comfortable temperature even with the peak’s harsh cold.

Meng Jueyan quietly accepted the arrangement and began organizing their belongings, while Xuan Qing moved about with her usual efficient, almost mechanical precision, placing items exactly where they needed to go.

Chitterfang, meanwhile, had already taken possession of Han Yu’s personal room inside the inner courtyard mansion. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

SQUEAK

The rat scampered across the polished wooden floor, sniffed around the furniture, and soon discovered a particularly soft pillow resting near the side of Han Yu’s bed.

With obvious satisfaction, the small creature curled up atop it and began kneading the fabric with his tiny paws before settling down as if he had lived there his entire life. Han Yu shook his head slightly but allowed the rat to keep its newfound bed.

Once the basic settling process had begun, Han Yu continued inspecting the residence more carefully.

He first entered the cultivation chamber beneath the blue tower. Inside, he immediately felt the presence of two distinct energy streams circulating through the formation arrays embedded in the floor and walls.
