Chapter 747: Finding A Great Wife

Gina looked back at the snake and watched as it burst into a spray of light blue particles. The particles came together to form a small blue ball that quickly zipped away from the battlefield and back into the forest. What the hell was that?

"That is the spirit’s true form. Spirits are creatures that cannot die, so whenever their mortal body is killed, they return to their true form until they can form a new mortal body for themselves. It should take a few decades before we see the giant snake again."

Farlow spoke up as he walked towards Gina from the other side of the battlefield, and Gina hummed in understanding as she accepted the explanation! Gina had been afraid that the snake would be able to come back immediately, so she felt relieved when she heard Farlow’s words! Gina couldn’t even imagine how difficult this mission would be if every single spirit in this forest turned out to be immortal and they could return immediately after they were killed! Gina shivered before she quickly shook those thoughts off! Gina didn’t even want to think about it!

Gina and Farlow continued their journey across the forest, and they ran into a few more spirit beasts as they went, but it was easy for them to handle the beasts using the same strategy that they used against the snake. Farlow would act as the frontline fighter, and he would draw the attention of the beast, and then Gina would sneak up on the beast from behind and deliver the killing blow! There were many different types of spirit beasts in the forest! There were bears, lions, giant falcons, and even one spirit that had taken on the shape of a tree and attacked them using its branches and roots! By the time they were getting close to the center of the forest, the sun had already fallen from the sky, and it was impossible for them to see anything in the forest at all, so Farlow suggested that they find a place to rest for the night so that they would be well rested for their fight the next day. Gina agreed to this, and they found a small clearing in the middle of a circle of trees where they could put up a tent.

Since the forest was filled with spirits, both Farlow and Gina knew that they would have to constantly keep watch to avoid being snuck up on, but right now both of them were just sitting beside a fire as they enjoyed the peaceful night. The large canopy of trees above prevented them from seeing the stars in the sky, but Gina didn’t care about that as she felt her mind traveling towards Jason once again. There was only one more day before Jason’s isolation was over, and Gina couldn’t help but feel a wave of excitement filling her heart! Gina couldn’t remember the last time she was away from Jason for this long, and she realised recently that she had become a bit too dependent on Jason. If Gina and Jason weren’t talking face to face, then they were talking through their mental link, and this meant that they were always together, no matter what. And even though a lot of people would complain about this sort of dependence, Gina didn’t care at all. In fact, Gina liked how much her life revolved around Jason. It gave her purpose, and it allowed her to always see what was most important to her. This short week of separation almost made Gina feel like she was going to lose her fucking mind! Gina was going to do everything in her power to kill that forest spirit as quickly as possible tomorrow so she could go meet Jason sooner!

"I can feel your excitement bleeding out from you. You must really miss your beloved." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Gina looked towards Farlow on the other side of the fire, and she blushed slightly when she saw the knowing look on his face. Farlow just smiled at Gina’s reaction, and he stared down into the fire with a faraway look on his face while speaking.

"I understand how you feel, actually. In truth, all of this still feels very unreal. I had already given up hope on ever getting my wife back, but now I feel like I have her at my fingertips. All I need to do is stretch out my hands and get through tomorrow, then my greatest wish will be fulfilled. I don’t know if I can thank you enough."

Farlow let out a small sigh as his smile widened. Farlow knew that the main reason why he had taken Gina into this world and nurtured her this much was because of the favours he owed to the Marc family. Jason’s father, Richard, had saved Arandelle a long time ago when they truly needed his help, and Farlow had sworn his loyalty to the Marcs for that reason. But after knowing her personally, Farlow couldn’t see Gina as just another guest anymore. Gina had become something like his own daughter, and Farlow couldn’t be prouder of what she had accomplished in her time here. Gina gave Farlow a kind smile as she spoke.

"It’s alright, your Majesty. You did a lot for me, too, so let’s just say that we’re even."

Farlow scoffed in amusement when he heard what Gina said. If Gina thought saving his wife was the same as him giving her shelter, then she had to rethink her definition of ’even’. But Farlow knew that Gina was just being kind, so he didn’t comment on it. But all of a sudden, Gina raised a brow as she heard Farlow chuckle, and she asked him what was so funny. Farlow poked the fire with a stick as he said.

"I’m just a little awed by the Marc family. In truth, I have met three generations of Marcs. Jason’s grandfather was my father’s best friend, and he took my aunt as one of his wives. Then Richard Marc, Jason’s father, was someone I would consider a friend and benefactor. And then there is Jason himself. They are all great men, but they all had a roguishness to them that I just could never understand. Like they were born to live in caves, and instead they were forced to live in houses. I apologise if you find that offensive."

Farlow turned to Gina with a small smile since he thought that she would be offended by his joke, but Gina didn’t find anything wrong with what Farlow said at all, and she couldn’t help but laugh in amusement as she saw the truth in it! Jason definitely looked like someone who didn’t belong in the modern era! Gina was sure that he would have enjoyed himself a lot more if he lived in the stone ages!

Gina’s laughter finally started to die down, and Farlow finally completed what he had been saying.

"Yes, so the Marc men have always been roguish, and yet for some reason, they manage to find the most extraordinary women to take as their wives. Women with hearts of gold who fit the title of Queen better than anyone else. I am truly happy that you and Jason found each other, Gina. I know you love Jason with all your heart, and I encourage you to hold tight to that love. I can tell you from experience that no woman chosen by a Marc has ever regretted loving them."

Gina’s cheeks reddened, and she ducked her head shyly as Farlow poured compliments on her! Gina wouldn’t deny that there were times when she felt slightly overwhelmed as she learned more about Jason’s true family line.
