Chapter 201: Surprise Attack

If Jason started an attack on the main nest of the Skyking, then the hunters that had gone out would hear the commotion and they would come around to help the colony defeat the enemy. That meant that Jason had to divide his subordinates into two main groups. One of them would be in charge of attacking the nest to kill the warriors and the Skyking, while the other group would circle the nest and wait for any returning hunter so that they could kill them.

The group handling the returning hunters would have it easier, so Jason would make Riyala go with them. Since Riyala wanted more experience with battle, she could start with that. Jason would also put Raya in charge of handling the hunters, and she would take control of that group. Jason and Ragnar would go after the Skyking himself as well as his warriors. Jason wanted to end this entire battle as quickly as possible so that they could get back to Earth, so he was going to go in full force and kill the Skyking before anyone could react!

Jason sent a mental command over to the Legion and told them the plan that they would be adopting. Raya let out a screech in agreement as she started to skitter around to get the other subordinates to follow her, and Jason turned and told Riyala what her role in the plan would be.

"You’ll be with Raya and the other Adamantine Ants. They’ll be handling any Hunter that comes to help the main colony, so make sure you support them with fire whenever you can. They’re immortal, so there’s no need to waste your mana trying to heal them. Instead, focus on healing yourself if you get any injuries. Do you understand?"

Riyal nodded seriously to Jason’s orders, and she watched as Jason moved to get on Ragnar’s back. The large dragon rose its head and let out a loud roar in excitement, and Riyala couldn’t stop the blush that spread on her cheek as she watched Jason handling the dragon so effortlessly. As a Dragonborn, one of the most attractive things to any female was seeing a male who had complete and utter control over their dragon familiar! And after being around Jason for so long, Riyala was slowly starting to realize just how desirable Jason was as a partner.

"Riyala."

Jason’s voice cut into Riyala’s thought and she shook slightly as she came back to reality! She blushed when she saw Jason giving her an intense look! He nodded his head towards where Raya was waiting for her, and she quickly went to get on Raya’s back while telling herself to focus! She had to stop zoning out so much! Raya let out a loud screech once Riyala climbed on, and Jason patted Ragnar on the side before giving the order to move out, and they all took off from the platform together!

The main nest of the [Iron Bladed Falcon] was a floating fortress that stood high in the dimension’s skyscape. The falcons had chosen this region as their nesting ground after they realized that it was a prime area for hunting and adventure. The vast open space allowed them to spread their wings and fly around without having to worry about limitations, and the various weaker magical creatures that lived there ensured that they didn’t have to travel too far for food.

Below the floating forest, far down on the world’s surface, was a large ocean that was filled with hundreds of aquatic beasts. These beasts were the falcons’ main source of food, and the hunters would hunt for no less than two hundred small fish or a hundred large fish every single day. And if that was not enough to satisfy the falcons, then the rocky land that was located at the shore of the ocean was another area where they could hunt for food.

These two hunting grounds were far enough from the falcon’s nest that the hunters normally needed to travel for almost half the day before they could make the round trip to and from their hunts. This meant that most of the falcons were absent from the nest for most of the day! But that didn’t mean that the nest was defenseless during that time! All around the main nest, on many smaller floating platforms, large warrior falcons with dark red eyes and sharp talons, feathers, and beaks gazed around intensely. These sharp eyes took in everything around them for miles in every direction, and they waited patiently for any sign of danger to approach.

Along the eastern part of the nest, a large falcon warrior idly trimmed its feathers while occasionally looking out to see if there was any danger around. It leaned its head into its wing and took out a few overgrown feathers before it raised its head again to look into the horizon. At first, there were no signs of danger, but the falcon suddenly narrowed its eyes as it saw something strange! There was a large dot that appeared in the distance, and as the falcon watched, the dot began to grow larger the closer it got. The falcon got to its feet and shook its feathers roughly as it spread its wings! It released a low cry towards its brothers that were sitting on the platforms around it, and they also looked up to see what was coming.

The dot in the distance continued to grow larger until it had grown into the shape of a large dragon that was heading straight for them! The falcons all released cries of urgency once they saw the dragon and the warriors began to take off from their platforms to go and apprehend it!

In the distance, Jason watched as a flock of falcons took off towards him! The warriors were all larger than the hunters! They had sharper talons and their feathers were larger and stronger, so Jason knew that this was not going to be an easy fight. But Jason wasn’t worried about whatever the falcons would do because he had the advantage both in numbers and in the strength of his subordinates. Jason had left Raya and Riyala with fifty Pawn Rank III Adamantine Ants as well as all the Iron Bladed Falcons that he had already resurrected, and he took all the other Adamantine Ants that could fly along with him!

The Adamantine Ants with Jason were either Pawn Rank II Scouts or Pawn Rank III soldiers, and many of them had gained massive boosts in their defenses from being Rook Subordinates, and since Jason knew that the Iron Bladed Falcon Hunters were around the same level as Pawn Rank II subordinates, he could accurately guess that the Warriors would be somewhere around Pawn Rank III. That meant that as long as Jason didn’t allow the falcons to overwhelm any of the Adamantine Ants, then he would be able to eradicate all of them easily!

Jason tightened his hold on Ragnar while telling it to get ready for the first volley of fire, and Ragnar released a plume of smoke from its mouth in response! The falcons were getting closer, and Jason watched as they slowly began to fly up into the air above them! They were going to try to perform the sky dive that the hunters had done to increase their attack power! Jason immediately told the Adamantine Ants around him to attack, and the ants all took off into the sky as well! The Adamantine Ants reached the falcons before they could gain enough elevation, and they immediately slammed into them and began tearing their formation apart!
