Strongest Demigod System-Chapter 63: Remembrance
In time, Azrael would get better at keeping his awareness of his surroundings, but until then, he was going to be lost in his own mind whenever he went to meditate.
Azrael turned to his system and checked to see how far he had gone in the Litany, and he frowned at what he saw there.
…
Lithany of Ascension]
Progress in the Mantra: 0.4%
Progress Required to Rank Up: 2%
…
This was going to take longer than Azrael thought.
Azrael thought that it would be easy to finish off the Hymn and reach two percent by the time night fell today, but at this rate, it was going to take him a whole week before he could finish it.
How hard could it be to understand yourself?
Azrael was not a narcissist, but that didn't mean he didn't have introspective thoughts every now and then.
He thought he would at least have a basic understanding of himself and who he was.
Having that much of an understanding should've allowed him to progress faster through the Litany, but apparently, it did not.
The more you know.
"Hey, boss, the Matron says it's time for dinner. Come on, or we're going to finish all of it."
Thomas called out from the door as most of the body started to file out of the room, and Azrael heard his stomach grumble once more at the thought of food.
Azrael decided that he had practiced enough for that day and he left the room to join the rest of the children for dinner.

During dinner that night, Azrael tested out the [Hear No Evil] God Aspect on Thomas at the table.
"Thomas, I lost five dollars from my bag yesterday. Do you know where it is?"
"Cough! Cough! What? Five dollars? I have no idea about that. M-Maybe someone took it by accident."
Thomas made an effort not to meet Azrael's eyes, and Azrael just scoffed while turning to the side to view his system tab.
[Hear No Evil] has been activated.
A bright red light appeared around Thomas, highlighting him in Azrael's eyes and Azrael looked on as a single line appeared in smokey text above Thomas' head.
[Lie]
Azrael was a little disappointed that there wasn't more information on the lie, but that was expected since the God Aspect was only a D Rank. Azrael was going to have to work harder to improve his God Aspect.
That way, he would unlock more conditions and get more access to the Artificial God Aspects.
Azrael reached out and smacked Thomas on the back of the head.
"Don't take money that isn't yours, idiot."
"OW!"
Azrael shook his head as Thomas cried out in pain.
Azrael was already thinking of moving out of the dorm soon since he had some money for rent.
Staying in the dorm was going to prevent him from being able to do things the way he wanted. Going out at night and sneaking into the dorm before everyone woke up was going to get harder now that school was kicking off.
The students all had more homework and exams, so they were going to be staying up late more often.
If Azrael was staying alone, then he wouldn't have to worry about sneaking around them.
For that, Azrael needed to ask for permission from the Matron.
And since the Matron liked Azrael so much, Azrael just had to prove that he could take care of himself and he was sure that she would let him go.
…
The next day at school, the entire student body was buzzing with conversation about the 'Black Mask' that had appeared the previous day. Topics like these were not usually popular with students, but the fact that the criminal was both a demigod, as well as a possible child of Poseidon, made all the demigods in Divine Academy know about it.
"I heard he's like seven feet tall and he's a child of Poseidon. He even uses a wall of water to block bullets."
"Did you hear how he jumped out from the hotel? He fell from the fifth floor and landed on his feet. It was crazy."
"A friend of mine that was in the hotel said he killed like ten people and the police are only telling us about three so we don't get scared."
"He's like Jack the Ripper. I saw a picture of his mask and it was all black with red streaks of blood from his victims!"
Things like this floated around constantly as the children exaggerated and made assumptions about what the Black Mask killer was like.
Azrael walked into the school that morning with a pair of AirPods to block out the sound of the students talking.
For some reason, Azrael was not able to turn off the [Hear No Evil] skill, so that meant that no matter where he was, every single lie spoken around him was displayed as a notification on his system. It became annoying after Azrael heard some woman lying about taking her bath that morning on the bus, so he put in the AirPods.
Azrael already scoured the news channels yesterday for any form of information, and he was surprised by how inaccurate the descriptions given about him were. Some of the news channels said that he was a fully grown man, while others said that he was part of a secret organization of demigods led by a man blessed by a god of darkness.
It was beneficial to Azrael that they were so inaccurate, so Azrael decided not to let it bother him at all.
Last night, Azrael had dreamt about what happened in the hotel.
It wasn't a nightmare since it didn't stop Azrael from sleeping properly, but it was annoying to see the faces of those he killed even when he was closing his eyes.
Tap~!
Someone touched Azrael's shoulder from behind.
Azrael quickly turned around and his hands balled into fists! There was an intense look in his eyes, like he was a moment away from throwing a punch, and the person behind him took a step back in mild surprise at the intensity.
Azrael sighed and dropped his hand when he saw that it was only Maddison, and Maddison spoke up in worry.
"Hey, is everything okay?"
Azrael nodded as he turned and started to walk away. Maddison fell into step beside him, and the both of them were quiet for a few seconds before Maddison spoke up.
"You saw the news? About the killing at Prince Oak."
Azrael hummed while moving out of the way of some middle school students.
Maddison bit her bottom lip curiously and turned to glance at Azrael for a moment before she spoke up in an even quieter tone.
"Uhm… I don't want to presume or anything, but I just want to know if—"
Azrael suddenly stopped walking, and Maddison turned to him fully to see him give her a hard glare.
Azrael spoke in a final tone.
"Maddison, whatever it is you're about to ask, I have no idea about it. And if you keep trying to talk about it, then maybe it'll be best if we go our separate ways. Do you understand?"
Maddison swallowed her questions back down before she nodded to say she understood.
Azrael started to walk again and Maddison followed behind him with her head bowed sadly.
